BEST mix of sugar/yeast/water to get most co2?

its a pretty easy test. use a meter and measure how much more is put into the room.

then get back to us.

My meter only tests water. It shows that DIY CO2 works just as well as tanked CO2 in water... doesn't really help with testing MJ though.

Yes, my room is a sealed closet, pretty much 30"x30"x 8' high.
Doesn't really get much "fresh air" in there. I don't see how adding co2 doesn't boost the co2 level? I'm no scientist, but seems like simple stuff.
so your grow room is sealed , no fresh air getting in at all , what condition are your plants in ? with no air they would die, now , fermentation will produce a minute amount of co2 , (yeast sugar method), but comparable to what's already in the atmosphere, it aint worth producing, understand im not a hater , my information is correct , nearly done my shift here, then i shall reveal.

I've heard from many people that have done this that it attracts lots of bugs. Just invenst ina lil co2 tank, don't think its worth the bug troubles.

What you say makes no sense because first off you say it crests less c02 than I the air ok but add the two together and what do you have hmmm a higher count of you guessed it c02 wow isn't that so easy lol but really dude I and others would probably like to a more in depth look into the science of it than 1 person saying it doesn't work cause it didn't work for you also if it is in a closet that is well sealed the c02 builds up at the lower part of the pots since c02 is heavier than sir and you put a little fan down there and it will move it to the plants for you but in my experience using this co2 method no doesn't compare to filled co2 bottles but I will say your the only person I have ever heard of saying I docent do anything at all cause my plant deff seen a bigger healthier more vigerous growth and besides you forget SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING !!!
I have done trials with adding co2 this way and it was a complete waste of time , infact all it did was attract ants and other such bugs, if you do your research you will see that the amount of co2 you are actually providing your plants this way is less than the content of co2 in normal fresh air , in my trial (ask if you want the link) the plants that had co2 added this way were exactly the same as the 1's without. sorry to piss on your fire, peace ....

I don't understand this bug thing I know lots of people that use this method and don't have problems with bugs at all guess it depends where you closet is located or the people are just dirty ass people

i dont think he meant that it does nothing at all just that the results aren't worth the floor space or the headache of dealing with home made remedies when an easy one is available in the form of a tank and a C02 controlled switch/valve

I did say the amount produced is tiny and not worth the effort , so if you read it properly you would see this, it's an information forum , not here to rant, if you dont like my info , thats ok also...

Hey pal don't be afraid to try new things and tweak them cause I first came on here and so many people said I would fail because I didn't go by the so called code of growing like buying thousands of dollars worth of equipment now look at me I got most of them growers coming back now and saying they were wrong but some still stick there noses up just do what you think is best and remember it's all a learning experience and look at my 1000w closet soooany said it was impossible wouldn't work just do your thing but also do your homework most important !!!
I don't have a meter.

you forget sam that this is a world of pot heads here most of us can't afford a co2 system with valves etc .....

So, can anyone explain why 1 of the 2 hoses doesn't produce co2 from the end of it? They are both coming from the same 1 gallon jug.

I have used the sugar yeast mixed last year, and honestly, it could have been that my plants were about to explode regardless of it, but within days the leaves all over the plants got much bigger... each of my 3 plants had their own 2L bottle. I can also say that my room became ANTS city... that is what made me build a sealed room this year.

Now, as you mentioned, if you have a 400cfm fan going 24/7, it`s absolutely not worth it. What I am thinking of doing when I start flowering, is manually deal with the co2 setup in a way that my c02 will be coming out 2-3 hours before the lights go on, and put my fan on a timer so that it start 2 hours after the lights are on, so when the lights will first go on, the room will be packed with c02, the temps will rise for a couple hours, then I will start the fan and shut the c02 off. it will be like their morning breakfast  I just ordered this cheap DIY c02 kit for aquarium off of ebay, and it doesnt use yeast and sugar...http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Complete-DIY-CO2-system-Kit-planted-marine-aquarium-/250830159964?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a66a4805c#ht_4048wt_1110

Good luck :leaf:

EDIT: it is a possibility that your mix is not working because the water you are using is too hot, ... it has to be warm more like not cold but not hot!!

Fermentation can produce a substantial amount of CO2 in an enclosed area, the real question to those of you who understand zymurgy is; are you a good enough grower where everything else is dialed in to the point that you'll see a noticeable difference from your biweekly DIY fermentations? Is it worth the $$$ and effort fermenting pounds of sugar in gallons of water (because that's what it takes to produce a substantial amount of CO2)? Chances are if one is growing in a closet, the answer is no.

A simple intake and exhaust fan will supply all the CO2 necessary for healthy growth.

i do this, i use 1 liter of water, 1 cup of sugar and one tablespoon of yeast. also if you seel the container and use an air lock valve you will not get bugs, the valve can be found at any hobby brew shop for about a dollar.

Do I use one airlock valve per tube? Only 1 of the 2 tubes flows co2, but the other just sits there. I was thinking maybe it needs a check-valve or something.
