What Do You Fry?

Yeah, someone already mentioned twinkies. I think I'd actually die on the spot from the unhealthiness. But so nomful...

Om nom nom. Maybe getting some fancy low fat hotdogs and making your own batter would make it a bit more healthy ^^; *is hungry now*
The twinkie idea I stole from a restaurant in Philadelphia famous for cheese steak sandwiches. But for deep fry, nothing beats fresh shrimp:

SHRIMP'N BEER BATTER
SHRIMP MARINADE:
1/3 c. Worcestershire sauce
1 c. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Place 20 to 36 medium or jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined in above marinade for 30 minutes. Dust lightly with plain flour. Then dip in beer batter and deep fry at 365 degrees about 7 minutes or until golden brown.
BEER BATTER:
2 bottles beer
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. paprika

Have any of you guys watched the tv series "Unique Eats"? While as a brit i find the presenters just awful, they need stabbing, the places and food and such they eat, you better have a shit load of munchies in the cupboards for watching that series :D fantastic stuff.

Except (remarkably) chocolate. cn
A couple of people did say Mars chocolate, but I haven't tried it myself so I cannot say. It does sound like an odd mix of flavors...

I like pretty much everything on the Food Network :3

I see cooking and baking as an extension of visual arts. To me there's no difference between making a beautiful dish and making a beautiful sculpture, only the food has more chemistry involved and has to taste good.

hahaha this is so gluttonous it's awesome...it's such a vulgar display of power...for god's sake you can totally cook a burger in the deepfryer in like 3 mins. It's mad I tell you. It's the ultimate in fast food. Make donuts for sure...pretty much just make like 2 dozen donuts and then get a half gallon of milk to chug it down with. Then sit in complete satisfaction

I bought a home deep fryer with two baskets the other day at the Big K and looked back on this thread.

So far I've made mozzarella sticks, onion rings, wings, and pizza rolls in it.

Something I didn't find on this thread is fried dough.

Here's a recipe for a deep fryer

1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening
1/3 c. milk

Mix dry ingredients in large bowl. Blend in shortening with pastry blender. Stir in milk with a fork until soft dough is formed. On lightly floured surface, knead dough 2 or 3 times. Pat smooth to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into fourths with a floured knife.Place two at a time into the deep fat fryer, turning often once they reach the top to brown evenly. Cook for 4-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels. You may sprinkle with cinnamon, confectioners' sugar or butter. Sit and eat.
