The oil companies as free market industries is really a stretch. They are a monopoly that control the price of oil accross the planet. They tell tall tales of shortages, lack of refineries, OPEC gouging etc., but in reality they are the ones that set prices and the speculators fuel the rise in prices. If The oil industry is the model for free market systems, we're fucked.

A quick tutorial. "Free market".........based on supply and demand determined by individuals, for the most part. So, last time you filled up your gas tank, ate out, did business in general, you supported the existing way of doing things. Or, generally speaking, you bribed big oil into continuing to do business, for you, and all these other closet supporters of oil and the enterprises engaged in finding, processing, and supplying oil and its derivatives to you so you can continue living your greedy lifestyles.

lmao, i think the majority of the population would rather fill up on tap water for pennies and keep our environment free of polution..

the energy industry has monopolized their market so we have no choice but to "bribe big oil into continuing to do business" "so we can continue living our greedy lifestyles"

we have safe FREE alternatives(water) but we will never be able to exploit this new technology because of the latter posts, i.e. they purchase the patent or kill the inventor. take your pick

not to offend anyone just my opinion on the matter:peace:

edit- the energy industry/banksters has monopolized LOTS OF MARKETS

Let me think................last time I set oil prices.........................., Never............... I was fine with the .29 cents I was paying in the 50s, now if it dips below 3.00, everyone thinks it's cheap. The oil "industry" (Cartel) has raised the price to suit their investors, not in any competition. They are a giant monopoly that fix prices and agree to keep them high, against every anti-trust law on the books, with impunity. Such arrogance, as they know we're hooked. It's like if Heroin dealers all got together and raised the price of heroin, would the addicts say no, hell no, they'd just steal more to afford it.

I have to disagree, Med. No suprise there, right?

The price of gasoline at the pump is determined by supply and demand just like any other commodity. Want to see gas prices decline? Just have the majority of consumers begin to drive hybrid cars that get 50 mph. In addition to hybrid cars, have the majority of consumers move closer to work so they can ride bicycles to and from. As long as Americans are hooked on 300+ horsepower behemoths and commute 40 miles one-way to work, gas prices will be high. The only other alternative would be to increase the supply by building refineries here in the U.S., increasing off-shore drilling and exploring other areas like Alaska.

Good luck with that fantasy Redd. might as well have them try and grow wings so they can fly to work,~LOL~ what a rediculous reply, like that is ever going to happen. People are hooked and they know it. That may happen within the next hundred years, but meanwhile, back at the pump, bend the fuck over.

and kiss the concrete ground your car sits on, beside the pump that spews fuel at your beckoning, at the station on the road in the greatest country on Earth.

JFYI, I used to own a gas station, a Unocal in Glendora Ca. The only ones making money on gas were the oil companies. I was lucky to cover my expenses with fuel margins, sometimes it was a negative. If I wouldn't have been a decent mechanic and made a few bucks fixing cars, I'd of gone belly up in that business

Should have had your wife set up shop at the gas station. Get your car fixed and get your taxes done, same day, while you wait. Throw in a hot-dog machine, a carbonated soda dispenser, some candy, you could've retired with 10 of 'em.

There were certain restrictions with a Unocal franchise. We were allowed a couple of vending machines, that's it, Their Image you know. We made a few bucks off the condom machines in the bathrooms,~LOL~, especially on Saturday night.

Hey Med ...

I used to work in a gas station as a second job. I was already broken in as a salesman at the time. Let me tell you ... between me and my buddy who went to work at the station, we turned the business around for the owner. We had TBA flying out of the place like hookers in a bar in Vegas. We checked the oil and the tire pressure of every car that came in to the place. The owner just wasn't getting the picture that he was in the sales business. The lug actually thought he was in the gas station business. We changed his mind on that point. ~lol~

^^^ That was a great post, FF. Not only a great post, but proof positive that a lack of spelling skills has nothing to do with intelligence. (That's a compliment, by the way) :)

Nitrogen bombs. ~lol~

I agree with med on the gas station bit just thru experience. In an area of small towns every gas station doubles as a garage or convenience store, if the mechanic quits or is no good the gas station closes. happens over and over and over agian.
There is a guy from near here who invented a carburetor 20-30 years ago that got about triple the mileage than any factory vehicle but the same happened. It got bought up with big promises and was never seen agian, he tells his story all the time and has even quietly built a few for friends but it's scary!these ppl wouldnever come forward and loose there carbs.

There is also another story of a guy who was a auto dealer in a huge ford or GM dealership one of the two big ones. He got a new company truck, he was amazed at the fuel mileage this thing had so he looked into the history of the truck and it was a 1 year old test model that was being used buy his boss, an upper at the company. It only took a few months of bragging about his awesome truck that he woke to find a 2 guys under the hood of his truck. They vanished and his fuel mileage was back to "standard". He believes there is a chip let alone a carb that can nowadays be responsible for setting "standard" fuel mileage.

I know this stuff sounds like a conspiracy but it is also the nature of the beast on this issue.

First off, no.

That is an urban legend that your hydrogen powered vehicle will detonate and and be a miniature nuclear explosion if you run into a mailbox.

And I kind of skimmed through your wall of words there (the enter key is your friend) and for your last statement, I know, I've already stated that. That is whats wrong with greed.

i have to admit zen, i have been liking you more and more lately. at first i thought you were an ass when you were debating about how different races(blacks, hispanics, etc.) are the leaches of society.

so ya, i have to agree with you on this and and concur that hydrogen powered vehichles would/are not explosive. from what i recall, hydrogen is flammable but not explosive unless compressed(?).......

i think the reason behind this is because if we had a pressurized hydrogen "fuel" tank, the hydrogen will not react unless it comes into contact with oxygen. thus, if there was a spark(s) in the pressurized fuel tank, there would be no oxygen for the chemical reaction to take plant and therefor no explosion, or anything for that matter.

the same does not apply in an engine where the hydrogen and air/oxygen is deliberately mixed to an optimal ratio, compressed, then ignited.

i would rather be driving around in a hydrogen powered car because if there was a leak, the hydrogen would just rise and dissipate into the air and would not collect. hydrogen is the first element in the periodic table and is therefor lighter than air and helium(balloons) for that matter.

sorry for the science class fella's, but i just wanted to school FF on why it would actually be safer to drive in comparison to driving around with a GAS tank.

You misunderstood me then on my debate, I was merely arguing that when a democrat gets in office, they tend to raise taxes, and focus more of that money toward social programs, which include welfare. Which I disagree because those systems can and have been exploited.

Race got somehow pulled in because I was throwing out statistics of how alot of individuals do not leave welfare.

Wasn't trying to offend anyone, hope we can move on
