Those big salmon certainly are fun to fight. Just when you think they have had enough off they go again! Looks like you got some yummy supper though, nice.......
Thanks AST, lost a few nice ones today. Only using 4lb test. The river is about 5ft deep and crystal clear. They see everything! Not catching anything like you guys do up there. But, a 6lb salmon up this way get's bragging rights for a day on a fly rod. Though, I didn't get him in. Had him rolling on his side till he bumped a rock! SEE YA! Oh well it was fun.

Pike we use leaders, I lost one on 15 lb test last year. got em to the boat and he went on a dead run and took all the line. Only nice thing about this area is the good fishing, but ya need to be a billy goat to get to the spots that no one fish's.

It's getting to be that way around here too. I use a float tube, beers, weed, going where most fisherman haven't been before. Though, not yet this year the water is still around 50. And I got sick of losing 8 dollar rapalas on pike so went with wire leaders. Though, they do fuck up the action when working lures. But, they are as aggressive as they are hungry. I'll be going for them in another month. Will hopefully post some pics.

Its not about the size of your catch...its how you wiggle your worm to draw the fat ones in! You got outdoors and enjoyed nature. Thats all anyone could ask for. The rest is just a bonus........

Finally went fishing last weekend at Casistas Lake. Weather was awesome and I caught 3 Large that weighed in the 3 lb range. My buddy caught 1 and lost two.

We've been crushing the walleyes in the Detroit River, but the spawn is over, the nasty silver bass are in for their spawn. Now it's time to start trolling crawlers harnesses and hot-n-tots on the flats in Lake Erie hunting down the exhausted fish that are in a feeding frenzy to gain back the weight lost in the spawn.

I broke another damn jigging rod the last trip.....another $100.....damn snags.

The rest of the walleye season is sweet though. Get up at 4am, be on the lake fishing at 6am, and troll till we get a limit, or run out of beer. I love this time of year.

They are starting to do the spawning thing up here. Nice and close to shore, and will attack anything that comes near their nest! The fun awaits. Good luck!

Bummer about your rod. I have snapped many in trunks and car doors. What are silver bass? Good luck slaying the walleye.

They're in the river by the millions right now. It's a great thing to do with kids, since they'll catch so many they can't move their arms by the end of the day, and it's never related to weather, locations, or anything, they're everywhere.

They push the walleye out eating up all the bait fish. Walleye guys hate them, but a lot of guys will keep buckets of them and give them to the many poor people that hang out by the river in the D. The brothers love to smoke them, say it's the best ever, I've never eaten one. I'm snobby about walleye and perch from the Great Lakes lol.
