2nd Coming Article Offers Clear Proof

If something someone says makes you second guess yourself about a belief, isn't that a good thing?

Isn't the idea to try to get to the closest approximation of the truth?

I disagree with this and you still haven't explained why it's disrespectful. If a person felt this way, why would they continue to post about their beliefs if they didn't want them to be disrespected?

Because organized religions don't just "leave it at that". If they did, I'd have to find another hobby.

Questioning peoples spiritual beliefs is his hobby lol What a douche.

Studying religion, science and otherwise bettering myself as an individual, dumbass.

Your hobby is trolling internet forums with ignorant claims and arguing with known facts.

Someone needs to do some introspection, figure out why they're such an angry individual that they lose control of their emotions when their beliefs get questioned.

For someone who plays the "poor me" card so much in this forum, you sure throw around alot of harsh words.

I have to respect your right to have beliefs, as a fellow human being. I have no requirement to respect whatever beliefs you may hold though.

...quietly? ...to your person? ...if (all who fall under the spectrum of non-belief) hate the fact that some 'christians' are vocal about what they believe, why do you do the same back? If the idea is common sense, intelligence, adulthood... wouldn't you want to be 'the bigger man'?

I can't imagine a person like you would have many friends in real life, so at least my being antisocial is a personal choice. I wouldn't want to interact with people like you in the real world on a regular basis, it's happened many times, so I choose to avoid them and I don't really see anything wrong with that. Telling me "you don't have any friends!" doesn't offend me. Try harder.

Seriously? Dude stop insulting everybody that just asks you questions.

Just paints a picture of the person behind the keyboard. Consider all his projections towards everybody else.. I actually feel bad for him. (I'm serious)

If you feel someone has said something incorrect, it is fully within your rights to question that person. If that person wishes to no longer be questioned, he should stop speaking his mind. I personally don't wish all christians would be less vocal. I just wish they would stop getting defensive when they voice their beliefs, and get questioned. I don't expect only positive feedback and support on my grow journals here. Why should my postings in SSP get a special exemption from questioning and dissenting opinion? In the end, if you don't want someone to exercise their right to disagree, don't exercise your right to speak either. Naturally, the street runs both ways.

Spoken like a true brat thats angry at the world.

...they are his to have. He is human / deserves respect and equal treatment.

I agree, but why should anybodies beliefs automatically deserve respect? The example I brought up was Hitler, he had 'beliefs' too, we're all pretty familiar with what those were, why should we respect them just because he had them? That doesn't make any sense, anybody can believe anything and every belief deserves equal respect? No, beliefs should be given respect just like anything else, by earning it on a case by case basis. Doesn't that make more sense?

As I mentioned to Kaendar, it's the religions that can't keep it to themselves. If they could, you wouldn't even notice us. Have you ever seen an atheist run into a church and scream at the people "STOP BELIEVING IN GOD YOU IDIOTS!!"? Me either.. How many Sunday's have you been woken up by someone knocking on your door wondering if you've found Jesus?

Perspective matters.

...it's the words we're using. The tones we're using. That's my opinion.
