Time To Get Rid of Concealed Carry Bans?

Lol
piece of shit gun
you should at least do a barrel change and make it a .40 cal like it was meant to be
It was meant to be a .357 sig for defense and a .40 for affordability for shooting. The sig round carried magnum ballistics out to 1000 feet. i'll take that any day over the .40. The magazines are double stamped as .357 sig and .40 since they share the same casing. As for being a gun that will shoot 3" groups at 30 yards? Naw. It's a DAO meant for reactionary, defensive firing. Imagine that. A weapon designed purely for the moment it must be drawn and immediately employed under stress. @ 30 yards, every round is in the rings. Sufficient i'd say.

That being said, i'm saving up for a new 1911 ;)

Im not talking about the round
Im talking about the Glock and Wesson piece of shit handgun you are touting
its about 1 step above a hi point
Ill give you a tip
take out the trigger assembly and remove one spring
also polish up the sear
Your gun is still going to have a shitty trigger
But at least this way it aint gonna break your finger evertime you pull the trigger
NO
I am not attacking you
Just telling you
You need to spend a couple hundred more to get something decent

ETA
and if you want reliability and capacity
stay away from the 1911's
DAO like you got is the ticket

i gotta agree on the shitty trigger lol. It does do it's job from a safety standpoint though (as in it don't fire unless you are pulling that trigger, HARD lol). Thought about having a trigger job done on it but think i'd rather have the factory setup for safety AND save the money to go towards my 1911. i've always been a huge fan of the 1911. Granted the round itself is slow as hell (love watching them be lobbed downrange) but when it hits, it's a stopper. Capacity doesn't botther me too much. 7+1 or 8+1 is sufficient for my needs given the fact that i will have extra mags.

As for reliability/servicability, IMO, there's a reason why the 1911 has been around 100+ years and continues to be carried by LEO, military, and special forces. Granted, they have their idiosynchrasies but so do most weapons. The key is knowing your weapon.

ALL that being said, i regret to this day the trade of my well-used (probably around 20,000 rounds) S&W 5904 for this Sigma new. The Sigma carries a much more effective round than the 9mm but as for handling, performance, reliability, etc, the 5904 was an awesome gun.

I got talked into the sigma when they came out. Price was right. I got what I paid for.
1911 is just a platform comes in lots of calbers. Being around for a hundred years is meaningless
Too many parts. If you're looking for the option of SA get a SA/Dao pistol like a sig sauer

Sig DEFINITELY makes a great gun. i have the P230 that i carried as backup and talk about a comfortable, accurate and reliable firearm. The .380 caliber is the ONLY weakness in that firearm imo. i've also shot the P229 in .40. That was one of the coolest experiences i've ever had. It was so intuitive it was like you couldn't miss.

i'd be getting the 1911 in 45 to stay true to the roots of it and give me the firepower i seek. PROBABLY gonna be a GI model too. Bare-bones and servicable. Sigs are nice, but that price tag is too lol. i don't think i'd call the 100 years meaningless though. i'd call it a legacy personally :)

My personal preference is a Glock, model 22. I don't carry, so the size is not an issue with me. I think if I did carry I would probably go with a Ruger LCR.

The value of an armed citizenry

http://kitup.military.com/2012/07/regarding-an-armed-citizenry.html

"
Woodham drove his mother’s car to Pearl High School [Pearl, Mississippi]. Wearing an orange jumpsuit and a trenchcoat, he made no attempt to hide his rifle. When he entered the school, he fatally shot Lydia Kaye Dew and Christina Menefee, his former girlfriend. Pearl High School assistant band director, Jeff Cannon, was standing five feet away from Dew when she was fatally shot. Woodham went on to wound seven others before leaving, intending to drive off campus and conduct another shooting at the nearby Pearl Junior High School. However, assistant principal Joel Myrick had retrieved a .45 pistol from the glove compartment of his truck and subdued Woodham inside his mother’s car. Then Myrick demanded “Why did you shoot my kids?” to which Woodham replied, “Life has wronged me, sir”.

There would be no further victims that day, thanks to armed resistance.

James Eaves-Johnson wrote that there were “687 articles on the school shooting in Pearl, Miss. and of those, only 19 mentioned that ”Myrick had used a gun to stop Woodham“, four-and-a-half minutes before police arrived”.

This is one 1911 i went and looked at today. Good value from all i've read. Not a Kimber or a Colt, but solid, reliable, and servicable.

i personally preferred the Kimber Ultra Compact with laser sights but the $1,595 price tag is a little outta my range :(

Nice Piece of hardware
Good company
I have one tip that will save you time and money
if possible
If your local "fun" shop has a range and will let you shoot it go for it
a lot of ranges also have rental guns
And all of them have layaway
Another good tip
if possible
Is find what you want and buy it online have it shipped to your local fun store
gunbroker.com is a good site

As for gunbroker, i have been looking at them. Always a little unsure about internet purchases though.

They don't have an on-site range but there are several local ones we can go to. i got to see this model both out of the factory box and after having a trigger job, adjustable sights, a more polished ramp, a larger slide release, and custom grips(the owners personal carry weapon) and i liked the latter. He quoted me about $150 for the extras on top of the $550 for the gun so about $700 out the door. He said he would let me shoot HIS weapon but not a new one (obviously lol).

That being said, i have a good buddy who spends about $10-12k a year at this shop and gets deep discounts so i plan on taking him and cash when i go to buy. DEFINITELY going to fire at least 50 rounds through one before i buy though. My buddy said he has a couple friends with the factory model that will let me give her a test-run too :)

Gunbroker is absolutly legit
The cons are
will your local fun shop take the order without charging you major money for the transfer
unlike your local fun shop
You got problems with your firearm
You cannot just bring it back

Absolutly take up the owner on his offer to take a test drive
Make sure when you buy some reloads to flash some cash so he know's you aint just kicking the tires

Speaking of theaters

Does anyone here remember the theater hostage taking in russia a few years ago?
They pumped in some chemical agent (made of valium?) knocked everyone out (od a few as well)
Then went in a shot all the terrorists in the head before they woke up
