Look just try not signing the W-4 and see how fast you don't have a job.
Look just try not paying taxes and see how fast you don't have a strong nation.

benefits come with a cost. and as you pointed out in the rest of your post, agreeing to foot those costs is voluntary.

plenty of unexplored, unmonitored wilderness to abscond to.

Yes the minute we sign the form we agree to it.

you have to voluntarily sign a W4 to suffer the brutal indignity of income taxes.
Not true!
If one of my employees fail to sign their W4, I have to deduct a set amount whether they like it or not.

Besides, what would you know about signing a W4 anyway? LOL

You trying to change the argument LOL Your claim above was that you have to voluntarily sign a W4 to suffer the indignity of paying taxes and once again, you're wrong, you still have to pay!

So what we don't have the freedom to work for ourselves now?
you sure do. start a farm, grow your own food, dig your own wells, generate your own electric, burn your own trash, whole nine yards. that's good honest work right there, and you don't have to foot any of the costs of society nor enjoy any of the benefits of it, save property tax (which can be exceedingly low depending on where you set up shop).

I had 12 acres in the country, property tax was $14 for the year. Yielded about $3000 worth of hay depending on rainfall. I sold it too, big pain in the ass. I'm no farmer. Bought it to build a home on. I like my lifelong career as a builder. I get to do a lot of different things and use it to help people. It's good honest work too.

holy crap, $14?

i grew up in NJ where it was $3k a year for a quarter acre in the boondocks, and that was 20 years ago. i can only imagine how much property taxes are now, but the trade off is GREAT SCHOOLS.

seriously, $14? wow. awesome.

incorrect buck, a w-4 is the withholding agreement. no business will hire you without one, but if you do get a job without a w-4 then you are expected to pay the total demanded tax upon the filing of your year end return, those who are self-employed do pay the taxes, and most pay their taxes quarterly. employees who do not have a withholding agreement are expected to shell out at the end of the year when they file.

not signing a w-4 does not protect you from taxes it just means you get to keep your dough untill the filing date is due when you gotta write that check.

if one of your employees does not sign a w-4 you have been TOLD you must collect the taxes for the government. this is untrue. speak to a tax attorney and they will explain the bizarre machinations that cause this lie to be propagated.

the w-4 is a voluntary agreement to allow the federal government to withhold monies as a surety to force the schlubs to file their taxes. without it the entire system falls apart. the IRS has been crafting lies and imposing their will on employers to force the employer to become the tax man, so they dont have to audit every person in the country. only federal state and local employees are required to file a w-4 agreement, everybody else is just strongarmed into it (one employer forged mine)

perhaps you missed my "go dig your own well, mill your own wood, generate your own electric, and burn your own trash for $14 in property taxes per year" rebuttal.

The claim that a W4 is voluntary is true, however, paying federal and state income tax is not.
We went through this about four years ago when we rehired a past employee, he would not fill out a W4 because he owed back child support, even though it's reported to EDD. Our accountant told us to get in touch with the IRS and CA. State Franchise Tax Board. We were told we had to withhold taxes at a default rate given by them, which we did.

This is straight from the irs.gov website.

When you get an invalid Form W-4, do not use it to figure federal income tax withholding. Tell the employee that it is invalid and ask for another one. If the employee does not give you a valid one, withhold taxes as if the employee was single and claiming no withholding allowances. However, if you have an earlier Form W-4 for this worker that is valid, withhold as you did before.

so someone put a gun to your head and forced you to start a business?

you're so fucking dumb that my ducks laugh at you.

you have to voluntarily sign a W4 to suffer the brutal indignity of income taxes.
What the he does starting a business have to do with your argument, you claimed that because signing a W4 was voluntary, if an employee did not sign the W4 he was not subject to withholdings.

Nice try Bucky but your attempt to change the argument FAILED!

Perhaps it was your chickens you heard laughing, at you.
