opinions on guard dog for my next outdoor grow, (im going to keep it after as a pet)

like my dad used to say "only drug dealers and mexicans get them pit bulls" ugh... after he saw how incredibly easy she was to train and how smart she was he changed his mind quick.

my pit learned sit, down, stay, fetch, and basically everything by 8 WEEKS! start positively training when they're 1 month old. i recommend you check out don sullivans dog training guide.

I love pit bulls i still might get one but honestly im leaning tward the rotti for a couple reasons. But most definatly pits are a beautiful breed

If you understand, but still freely use it, it suggests something about what you think about the value of my request. I am suggesting that even though the word is in common usage, that does not rehabilitate it. It's still a very ugly word imo. cn

Not a viable course of action at all IMO.

1. You will need to leave the dog alone at the grow.
2. You will need to restrain the dog near the grow.


Both of these factors will potentially do more harm than good in achieving your goal of a successful grow. Any noise the dog makes, and they WILL make noise, may be investigated by any curious individual in the area, which will compromise your grow.

Some folks who stumble upon a grow may not recognize it for what it is, or may simply not care, however, a lone dog on site adds incentive for these kinds of folks to report the grow out of concern for the animal.

Anyone willing to rip your grow will NOT be deterred by the presence of your dog, so what you will end up with is a ripped grow, and possibly a dead / wounded / poisoned dog.

Losing a grow is bad enough as it is, don't let rippers fuck up a dog as well.

Some dogs are just naturally aggressive no matter what, while others are naturally submissive. Socializing won't really change that.

The idea behind socializing is that you want them to be exposed to different people and dogs, so the dog learns what's normal behavior verse what's threatening behavior. For example, your child kissing the puppy on the face shouldn't be seen as a threat.

In a way dogs are like people. No matter how many people you met in school or through out your life, you don't actually like everyone you encounter. In fact, a lot of people you probably hate within seconds of meeting because you can just tell what kind of person they are,

The same is true with your pup. There will be dogs that your pup will not like no matter what and that's okay. The goal is not to make them like everyone and every thing, but simply be comfortable and not scared. You also want it to learn how to approach other dogs so it doesn't get attacked.

For example you never let your dog rub faces with another dog, especially if they are on a leash. Butt sniffing is okay, but face sniffing is not. If a dog isn't socialized and makes the mistake of face sniffing, it could easily get bit. Another benefit of socializing is that the dog gets to play with other dogs. And when dogs play, they play fight. The more play fighting they do, the more confidence they have because if they ever do get into a fight, they'll know how to handle themselves. Just be sure to keep the play fighting in play mode. If your not sure or you think your dog might be over excited, simply call your dog, have it sit, then release it and let it go play again.

Last thing is that socialization doesn't have to cost you anything. Most Petco stores offers free puppy socialization. If you go regularly you'll also find out what dog parks to visit and what dog trainers really know their stuff. You can also find free puppy training videos and lessons. Dog Star Daily's website is my favorite (http://www.dogstardaily.com/). I also like the video called Sirius puppy training.

Ahh thankyou thays some real advice , ive been waiting for this, i think when i get my cash up im going to ask my dads ex where she took her dogs, she had a bad ass traind german shepamherd and a belgum malinos , i think they were like police traind , the malinos was espacially bad ass , it takes a week for it to get used to youvand if it sees you if it dosent know you, and thr owner isnt around , your done. Stright done, dead. Gone never to be seen again lol

thatnk you very much, i will not be putting any dogs anywhere near this or any grow, it would most likely attract attention and be harmful to the dog, very inhumane and poorly thought out idea, thankyou everyone for your opinions,
