Ever been to the Middle East bro? I could not imagine being a woman here in the US just a century ago, sad but true, that was quite civil considering what women in the Middle East endure to this day.

I know it seems that way to many. I grew up on the streets of Detroit in the 70's & 80's. To hear kids talk about how "dangerous" Detroit and Flint are today seems funny to me. Although, both cities still hold top 10 positions in such US criminal stats, the stories are quite different and the numbers are quite lower on global terms. One must now consider that a majority of the populations of these cities left in the late 80's. One can assume that if information was as freely available then as it is now, people would have literally been frightened to death :o

Perhaps a media saturation phenomenon. Back then, a great deal happened undiscovered/unmentioned. It allowed many to hold onto their concept of a former gentler world, when in all probability the media microscope has inhibited more crimes than it caused.

But I must admit to a trace of curiosity: does this media saturation actually encourage a specific (if narrow) criminal segment: sensationalists like spree shooters and serial killers? I don't know. cn

I think you are right brother, the current media microscope has more power than we can even fathom. Imagine the fear within the Middle East and China, as this becomes a reality and these types of tyrannical governments try "censorship" and "propaganda" to withhold reality from their citizenry. The "Free Press" has more power today than our Forefathers could have ever imagined :bigjoint:

That said, what scares me in this country today is the success politicians and their string pullers have had manipulating our public consciousness with mere optics irrelevant to the subjects at hand. Back in my day in the field (war) we called this Psychological Operations of propaganda. Some how we have justified this now common tactic as simple Campaign of advertisement within the governance of this country. Founded in Nazi Germany, we have now accepted this fact of the matter simply based on current "Politically Correct" terminology, regardless that they are literally the exact same thing :(
 
when I was a kid, my brother and I would get out of school, get our pellet guns and jump on our bikes. We would just come home for dinner and head back out to roam the streets on our bikes. It was much safer then it is today, much safer.

some women are just as bad as men in terms of violence. alot of men dont speak out because they find it humiliating that a bird beat the shit out of them.
about 6 years ago i was in a relationship with a girl who came across as very sweet but when she had a drink she was a complete fucking idiot. i'm 6ft2 and built like a tank and she was 5ft1 and skinny lol.
sometimes she would punch me and it wouldnt leave a mark . but as time went on and she kept up her nut job bullshit it got worse , i would have to lie to people about my black eye etc etc.
then one night i was sleeping and woke up to find her standing over me with a knife against my face, i moved to get up and got slashed down my cheek in the process, i started shouting at her and she put the knife away and thought she could set about me again... at this point i thought fuck this and hooked her right on the beak , put her on her ass and bust her nose. never again did she start her shit and its safe to say i got the fuck out o there. i dont regret it and wish i did it sooner.

People abuse people in this world. It is fucked up. It would be nice if it stopped. Of course, even the do-gooders want to divide people into this group and that group. I'm sure it is not sexist to simply point out how women are the lesser sex (sarcasm).
