heyo, thought i'd get some experienced advise as i just picked up a nice glass extraction tube.. :D

the tube is about 16 inches or so in length, and an inch or so i.d.

how much tane should i run through for each pull??
thank you kindly..

the amount does not so much depend on the size of the tube as it does the amount of weed you use.

see how much you can put into it when youre going to do a run. top it off. maybe pack it down just a tiny bit, and top it off one more. then pour that amount onto your scale and figure out how much it holds.

generally use 1-2 cans per oz depending on how potent, how much there is in there, how fine its packed, filters, how much you want back, etc...

I normally use 2 cans for an oz. sometimes a 3rd when I do my 30 gram runs.

sounds like your tube would hold approx 1.5-2 oz... so I would run maybe 2-3 cans through that and go from there.

very cool vac.. i've been reading a few of your posts and saw your thread the other day.. been trying to do some research om me own, but i'm pretty new to this and thought it wouldn't hurt to ask some more experienced peps their opinions.. :D

i need to start working on getting a purge system setup.. pump, and the rest of it and i'll be ready to roll.. :D thanks again for the info, uch appreciated..

anytime man. its actually all very simple shit. anyone can get the stuff required to make some very potent BHO. the most important thing is to be doing it outside, in a well ventilated area with ZERO sparks or sources of ignition nearby when making it. it can be very dangerous. use the proper butane and simple oil tools found at walmart, take your time, purge (cook it off) properly and enjoy your final product!

it may not even leak out of the bottom until ur on can 3 then i go to can 4 and it really starts to pour. i call it at 4 cans

exactly. thats why I always use a little more than a little less. I find it can take up to 1 can before you see any results coming outta the extractor... you gotta really be packin at that point though. I think its only taken 1 can once and that was on a 100g run. I coudnt imagine it taking 3 cans to pour out.. if so, I would be running more than 4 cans personally if there was that much and it was that thick! that 4th can probably barely presses out the first 2.

its handy to have a second dish near to test into. youll see right when the first can comes out, its super golden, thick, foggy almost. after 1 or 2 cans, it begins to die down from that thick, dark, golden color very quickly. it will still come out with a little yellow for a long time. at that point, its pretty much 90% rinsed. you can either:

1. stop now, take what ya got, and worry about quality over quantity. call it done, dont worry about the last 10% or so.
2. rinse the hell out of it into a 2nd dish until you know its all washed.

from there you can:

3. either combine them into 1 batch and sacrifice quality over quantity and just do 1 big batch, or
4. cook them off separate and have 2 batches.. the first might not be much but it will be amazing. the second there will be lots more, it wont be quite as tasty or potent, but will probably still be damn good.

thanks vac.. i started to ask about color earlier in my first reply, but i thought i sounded stupid and edited it, lol...

so, yeah, i was thinking if the color of the tane would change the more cans i ran through the tube or not.. like you said, the first can will come out more amber and it will get clearer as it runs.. that's what i was wondering earlier, thanks for the info...

yeah the color does change.

I use to run it till it came out clear, which was way too much.

at first it will come out like a nice gold sludge, cloudy and foggy looking. real nice looking. after that, it fades real quick. it still comes out yellow... but youre not getting much. thats the trick ive been learning.

I sprayed that yellow, 2nd can stuff into a 2nd dish and cooked it off, and there wasnt much oil at all.. and it wasnt that great either. in the dish it looked like there was... but nope.

same with my 2nd rinse a few days later... it was coming out yellow, which almost makes you think its working. but when I cooked it off, there was barely anything. and it didnt smell that great.

a light yellow in most cases means theres not much THC left/there to begin with.

a great way is to just buy a few dishes.. theyre like 5$.. run 1st can into 1 dish, 2nd can into 2nd, and 3rd into 3rd and figure something out from there. either 3 grades.. or the 2nd and 3rd might produce nothing.. now ya know for next time.

i shoot for a can a zip. you can prob use another can to pull a bit more but, but you will be pulling more plant waxes etc that you dont want. i try to keep it as clean as possible. ive got quite a few runs under my belt that now im comfortable watching it come out the bottom and when it appears to run clear its done.
