Just as you guys are pushing the led lighting envelope, I am pushing the growing side as well. Hope you come by to see my 21st Century Drip/Spray and Drain set up. It blows my mind that it has been available fro 2 years, and not a single grow thread- until now
Pet ,something's wrong with your SIG link ....
Iwanna see that drip system ..Fix your sig ...

A revision ....
During the 11 days under GD-SDS light ......

.P5066535.JPG<=====It took two weeks to reach here (6/5/13 ) ,
with the ..aid ..guh-guh..of 24x CW 6000-7000 K ....( @320 mA )
At that day full GD-SDS system was set to work ...24x CW 6000-7000 K panel was removed .....

...It's pretty fine vegging -up till now- for my standards....

Next (' coming ' ) Wednesday -Thursday ,plants will be "turned" in flowering ...

Those Oslons ....

I just Love them ...

Trully Amazing leds !

I only hope that Osram ,will not reduce their size even more ....
To reflow them is already a pain in the ....well ...wherever ...
But for sure is above well worth it ...
1000% ...

Amazing tech ,amazing spectras to choose from and amazing efficiencies ...
80° or 150° lens for any situation and (realllyyyy -trulllyyyy ) compact size ...

From World's biggest led manufacturer ...

And so I have the first order for a GD-SDS system ....

A friend came by my house yesterday ...
He saw the progression of plants and ...was petrified .....

So he asked me to build 2 of these boxes for his wooden grow cabinet ..

So I asked him which of the two types ..." one from that and one from the other ? "

'No' ,he said ,'I want the complete system in two panels' ....

Common ,how's that possible ? ,responded to him ....

'Easy ...What you have made in panels ,you'll go one ' babushka ' deeper and apply it in the led arrays ...See ? Easy .... '

Now ,it was my turn to be petrified .....

....
So ...
We discussed further the details ....

Two boxes / panels ....

Each box will have a center mcpcb with 4x LCW CQ7P.CC 4000K and 8 x LCW CR7P.EC 3000K .

(The "cool " array .Mainly 'providing' a blue-cyan-green-yellow-shifted white light ..... )

The other two pcbs (one to the left -one to the right ) will be the "warms" with 4x LH CP7P T3 hyper reds & 8x LCW CQ7P.CC 2700 K ...

(*Providing ,mainly ,a heavily shifted -white/pink- light ,
towards amber-red-deep red-far red ...)

Each box/panel will have two small digital*( yes ..) 4-digit amperemeters ( 0-1000 mA range ,powered @ 48 V ).
One with blue digits/light for the cool array and one with red digits/light for the warm array .

2 current adjusting pots of course ...." Warm / Cool "...Like the water taps .....

And a new designed driver's card ,with 3x Recom bucks still used ,but now with two separate analog dimming circuits on board .
( Range ~140 mA min - 700 mA max... )
And extra "outputs/inputs " :for one extra amperemeter and
an extra power output for powering the two digital amperemeters .
( Can find them at 5 -9-12-24-48 V DC powering/operating Voltage "editions " ) ...

So,now these panels/boxes are more of "individuals " ,as they are a complete
" SSA** spectrum GD-SDS system " ,each by it's own ....

Friend gave a great idea ....

When time comes ,a full up-to-the-smallest-detail thread ,showing the whole building procedure from scratch ,will be made ....

Edit:

-*two analog amperemeters ,due to their size ,will cause "fitting " issues ....
So two digital ones where chosen ,as they take a whole lot less space inside the ' guts' of the box/panel ....

-** SSA : Overall system's Spectrum designation ..At this case : Spring-Summer-Autumn ,a spectrum choice
for annual or perennial plants that veg at spring & flower / fruit during summer/autumn . aka Short Day Flowering .
Overall " Warm " / " red " biased white light spectrum range ,as is the sunlight during those three seasons .

......

At the moment there is not a " AWS " spectrum researched ...(autumn-winter-spring...Blue/cyan/green biased )
Maybe by time ...Who knows ....

most digital ammeters modules works only correct if there is a second power-supply which has to be completely isolated from the testing circuit.

could be a tough job to do that.

Guod, please go a bit into detail on this ...
Why's that happening ?

there are a lot of side effects if you drive digtal ammeters on the same power-supply.
let me show up one in this special konfiguration...

leds on the recom driver are not connected to the ground(-) of the power-supply.
if you now put an digital Ammeter in series to the leds you connected one Output to Ground.
Don´t know what will happend, never try it.
ammeter.jpg
it depends on drivers and ammeter in which Problem you will run and there are many!

Aha!
In other words ,in case that the powering circuit of the digital amperemeter "interferes" with the led circuit on measure ,
then might things start to get "unpredictable ".....

...
@#$%$&% ....

Haven't thought about that ....

Thanx,Guod !

Isnt it great...you can actually see what the plants are doing...unlike these all red/blue panels....Booo! :D

Looking lovely Stardust. :)

What do you think is causing that slight wrinkle texture is on the bottom and side fan leaves? Seems like it would be a certain wavelength doing that, but maybe nute?

Could you please tell me what LEDs are used on the MIDDLE panel? Please speak in English, because I do not understand the C3P0 talk or whatever that is. As in Luxeon NW 3000k or whatever they are. Looks to be a mixture of warms and neutrals, but I don't understand exactly what you typed as to what LEDs were used on the MIDDLE panel.

What LEDs are used on the SIDE panels? Same English if you don't mind. Want to get an idea of the type of spectrum you are running.

And a question for whomever can answer: I run all my LEDs in series on a constant current driver. Can I also run the PC cooling fan in series with the LEDs? Is it possible? I use a 12v cooling fan that runs around 700mA. Typically I power them on a separate ac/dc adapter that is constant voltage. I don't quite understand what requirements a dc fan has for instance, in order to dim LEDs you can change the current(yes I already know about PWM) which can effect the peak wavelength, but it does work for dimming.

As for the cooling fan, what controls fan speed, Amps or Volts? If the fan requirements are lower than 700mA(my LEDs driver) will the fan speed increase? Something I haven't figured out yet.
