Lowe's.......
But ya gotta look for them, it's like those guys hide them amongst the aisle with wall plates plugs and cord ends.
I usually look for somebody on my way into the store on the way to electrical.
They even have moved the box in a 2 week period, when I went back for more, it was in a different spot.:cuss:

that was just a quick ebay search on em but they sell them online real cheap, i was pretty pissed the first time i looked for them and walmart didn't have any, then i went to home depot and saw that $3 dollars each sign and laughed all the way to my car.

My problem is, when I get an itch, I go get bulbs, and want to put them in NOW.
No waiting, no BS.

The difference between us is I no longer have a Lowe's or Home Depot nearby. Alaska has tiny cities scattered hundreds of miles apart. Mine is 90 miles north in Fairbanks and I have no reliable transportation to get there. I am stuck ordering online and paying for shipping with most things.

hey dude, you ever get that HTG tek lamp?
Darth,

You gave awesome advise, but a couple things came into play. One money, wouldn't have been able to get all the things I did get and seeds. I also wasn't jazzed after I researched the technology of that light. It is a PLL technology which basically turns a 2ft light into a 4 ft light. That's how their claim of 20,000 lumen’s with a 4 bulb 2 ft fixture is plausible. The problem I had was twofold, one weak made in china technology, two a very proprietary connection. I ended up getting a hydrofarm 2 ft 4 bulb, because as I am learning, it isn't the lumens that are as important as the spectrum of light the plant receives at a particular time.

That said this is what I got:

LEDwholesalers GYO1001 62-Inch x 36-Inch x 20-Inch Mylar Reflective Hydroponic Grow Tent $79.53

Hydrofarm FLT24 2-Feet/4-Tube T5 Commercial System with Bulbs $89.21

iPower GLROPE Grow Light Heavy Duty Adjustable Grow Light Ratchet Rope Hanger $9.95

Luster Leaf 1612 Rapitest pH Soil Tester $6.40

AcuRite 613 Indoor Humidity Monitor $12.35

Lasko Personal Fan#2002W, 6 Inches, White $14.21

Some of these prices might have gone up or down since I bought them July 03, but I paid $211 for everything. The light fixture came with 4 6400k bulbs, so I still need to buy 2700k, 3000k, or 3400k bulbs.

Had some bank issues, so found a fine company that is paypal friendly.

Sensi Seeds Northern Lights
Reserva Privada Skywalker OG Kush feminized
Vision Seeds Auto White Widow Feminized
Sensi Seeds Northern Lights #5 X Haze Feminized

Freebies:
I think I got two

Reserva Privada Silver LA

Darth you did turn me on to a decent company, and I do plan on using them for many purchases to come. Know that you helped open my eyes to a few things as well, so thank you. I think that's my update for now.

I just need to worry about soil and red spectrum bulbs. I want to take a look at aquarium bulbs because they seem to be more spectrum specific.

Hello All,

I'm new to growing. First week in July I plan on buying a GL80 Growing tent. I can't afford HID nor it's required additional cooling equipment. The floor of the tent will be 2'7" x 2'7". I will only be starting with a few Feminized White Widows. I need some advise on how I can set up my CFL's so they just don't have a lone bulb hanging over every plant. The fact that the square footage is so small, is it possible to hang multiple CFL's from a radiator and bath all the plants? Then just raise the reflector as needed when the plant grows? What Wattage should I be looking at? I know I need 6700k and 3000k Kelvin, but for the size of the tent, what wattage would be most benificial to the plants?

:Namaste:

Jeff
In all honestly Broski I feel that 300 w of cfl is much hotter than 300 w of hps . Either way u need to be having fans and cooling equipment . Best of lucky but I believe you're gonna switch lighting after one or two cfl grow

However I like the lumatek and galaxy hydro dim able ballasts . Bought the galaxy that can be 400 600 or 1000 so all I've hat upgrade is space and fans when upgrading rather than ballast and hoods as well . Pm me if you have any specific questions . I live in one of the hottest cities in the country if not THE ive learned a thing or two about room setup on my path

Did you miss the parts where he bought a setup already?
but actually no I was implying CFls produce as much heat if not more . I'm sorry those context clues were hard to grasp . Just don't see the point of CFls what so ever . By the time you afford enough lighting to produce anything you've got more heat than an HID and just as much money spent. I'm off this post .

Regardless though doesn't matter because your setup is going to change plenty of times , any grower knows parts will get upgraded and replaced so what I was doing is telling him what worked for me for a comparable price when I started . If you're not helping to topic by addressing any of his concerns no need to comment At all

I've got a closet set up about the same size you are working with. I eventually went to a 600w 4x4x7 tent, but decided to take a crack at using my cfl set up this summer. I have a board cut just a little smaller than the closet hanging from the ceiling on pulleys . I screwed light fixtures to the board, ran wires from them, put three prong plug-ins on the wires and plugged them into a power strip. I use 42 watt (actual) bulbs of varying spectrum. All fixtures have splitters, getting the bulbs a little sideways will give you better penetration from the lights. My board is also coated in mylar. I use more 6500k during veg, and gradually switch to more 2700k into flowering, but never go all one spectrum...one advantage of cfls. It is going pretty well considering the temp outside, I have the room the closet is in air conditioned and it stays in the mid to upper 70's. You might want to grow something a little more forgiving than WW, humidity can be hard to control in the summer. I'm just about done flowering one sick meds seeds bizarre and I couldn't be more happy with the strain. Its filling out nicely, flowering quickly, low odor, trains well, resistant to mold, nice and frosty... and the fucker is totally purple... i'm not talking leaves, the buds are going to be completely purple. I'm not sure how mold resistant WW is, but growing in the summer indoors humidity/mold could be a potential problem.

I'm up here in Alaska, and truly humidity is very rare, I grew up in CT, went to war in Panama, been to the Philippines, so th, at humidity I would worry about. I don't have CFL's, I have a 2ft fixture with 4 bulbs each at 24 watts. 4 6400k and 4 3000k. Today I hit ebay and got some 4 3000k T-5 HO, dolomite in case of soil ph issues, a hydro ph tester just to be sure. It will help in troubleshooting knowing these facts, if something goes wrong, and FF trio nutrient in pints. All the shipping was free except for the bulbs and they were $8.99. I have enough pots lying around here so I am okay with that, I might go as far as to get some solo cups. I hope perlite isn't a must because I am out of money for the month now LOL! I wil be using nice rich Alaskan soil as the medium, so we'll see how that runs.

Posting the same shit in different parts three times? Upping the post count, eh? No, I wasn't trolling. All you did was ignore his posts where he said he was flat broke and made his current choices already. Then there was the part where you advised against CFL's when he had already been talked out of it. Oh, and the part where you brag to a guy in the coldest state in the Union about your heat management skills. But feel free to accuse me of trolling; the trolls around here will tell you that's not my thing. Unless you're particularly obnoxious, then maybe. You haven't nearly reached that point yet though.

By the way Corey, this is how you actually contribute meaningfully. ^^^

In a small area, in a box, either HPS, MH, or fluroscents will give you about the same result yield wise... The variance in yield comes into play with bigger plants and bigger spaces...

What I've found though, (and you will too) is that Fluros give better tasting, more potent weed in general. I've run many of the same clones between the HIDs and fluros. Fluroscent lighting always wins :) ... It's just much more difficult to get yield with them... That's why you usually always need a box, and more then one light with fluros. (I refer to this idea, as light compression)
