i just think, at times, you guys actually love the abuse and love to abuse each other..kinda like how you say "hello"..
I am trying to learn how to be abusive so I can fit in better in this forum, but I am not a Republican so I find it very hard to achieve.

Why ban .50s? They haven't been used in even one civil crime in living memory.
I don't know you. Where is the White Bear? What have you DOOOOOOONE!?!?! :)

You can't ban a caliber. You can still get an Orliken in 20mm.

Did you see that Clint Eastwood movie where he broke into a bank vault with one?

Great movie. It was a recoil less rifle. Like 109 mm

We are both wrong. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot was loosely based on an actual robbery, and here I thought it was a bit far fetched, fiction. Silly me.

Aimo Lahti, the Thomas Edison of Finnish gun engineers, designed the L39, a 109-pound semi-automatic rifle around the largest 20mm shell then in existence. Using the Swiss 20×138mmB Solothurn Long cartridge, the gun was readily capable of piercing 20mm of armor at 100-meters and 16mm out to 500m with enough pop to put most of the Soviet tanks of the era on the menu.

It delivers 3 times, the foot pounds, of the .50. That's 35,543ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle. Safe cracking good. Now, least we think as I did, it can't be done because of the blast and shrapnel, it was done.

In 1965, Canadian criminal Joel Singer, a 22-year old member of the Montreal-based West End Gang syndicate, stole two Lahti L39s and 200 rounds of ammunition from a Plattsburg, New York gun dealer. Singer and four other gang members later used one of these guns in a dramatic late night burglary when they broke into the vault of the Brinks facility in Syracuse, New York. The Boombeast cracked open the bank vault with a shattering of 33-rounds of AP, allowing the gang to flee with nearly a half mil in cash.

our current president has spent more than the entire iraq war and our finanical recovery is the slowest in history. One thing is for certain, we need someone who has experience with economics. The last two years of Bush and all 5 years of Obama have been a financial disaster for this country.

they're made for blowing up helicopters, dude.

they have no civilian use whatsoever.
How does "what they're made for" even matter? That's like the bankrupt argument that arms should have a recognized sporting use. Camaros have absolutely no civilian use either when Priuses and minivans are so much more functional. Nonetheless i don't suggest banning Camaros; that would be priggery.

<edit> I see you've abandoned your public safety argument, which the .50s pass with flying colors. This is just guns, ewww unmasked.

The US president has constitutional authority to spend money? I thought this power was delegated to the US Congress only?

The government wouldnt have to spend a dime. It would need to reduce regulation and get the hell out of the way... Not like that will happen any time soon.

Not really. Government tinkering with the economy and the money system is what causes and perpetuates the problems. Besides Calvin Coolidge is dead.
