this does not imply canadians are dumb, or unskilled, they just lack THAT PARTICULAR skillset, due to lack of those jobs, and also lacks the support infrastructure for a refinery complex which inevitably breeds slums.

the engineers and other skilled workers always live 20 or 30 miles from The Plant, but the cats who work in the lunchroom, clean the toilets and work at the carwash live right up in the shit.

I wouldn't be too quick to toot the Moose Horn without looking at the data in more detail. Higher-educated Americans are pretty well on par with Canucks. It's during the formative years where there is the noticeable gap.
And that's before looking at the geographical differences within the US or considering the population scalar.

It is an interesting study, though; definitely worth perusing. However, it is not something I would take as being conclusive evidence of cerebral heft on the surface.

Read the whole thread, I outlined that we have people who want to build refineries. I also outlined why the
Canadian gov and oil industry dont want extra refining capabilities and why they would prefer to ship crude.
