I haven't been doing a good job of updating the solo cup grow. Sorry about that! Here's my little NL auto from Nirvana. I planted her in the cup on 7/30/2013. It's tough to keep em fed correctly in such a small container, but she's been a lil trooper and is still marchin' along.

I'm seriously thinking about going ahead and taking the AK-49 (auto) down sometime this week. She was in all honesty ready to be harvested a few days ago, according to her trichs. They all are cloudy, with I would say around 50 to 60% amber. Believe I am going to go ahead and start her flush to leach out any nutrient buildup so any tatse won't be in the end product. Will start that in the morning. I will take pictures of the chop process when I do decide to do it this weekend, amybe the start of this coming up week 10-15 or so. I really don't think she is going to pack anymore weight on, I think I've pushed her to her max.. idk, will see. ;) Just thought I would share my thoughts on it..

I think I'm letting my lil lady go at least 2 more weeks. I have a seed from the same pack in a bigger pot that I took some of a few weeks ago, due to a branch break, and while it smoked good, it was really fluffy, the rest of the same plant has really ripened up and the remaining buds are a lot denser. Still on my first go around, so I didn't realize how much they could swell up, after they seem ready. lol

I hear that.. I don't know if you've been follosing my little lady (AK-49) auto. But she is actually past her harvest time. Couldn't take her any sooner because of her trichs not being ready. But as of 10-11 I do believe she is ready to be took. She sure is stinking SO good!! Haha

I hear ya on the good smell! This is my first time ever growing and I have a PE auto and a NL auto in 2 gallon pots and the NL auto in the Solo cup and my whole house smells. Luckily, I'm out in the sticks, so I'm not worried about the smell. No one is close enough to smell it unless they open my front door lol

Hello all my friendly growers and stoners. Hope everyone is having a wonderful time with their grows so far this year. I have had one of the most successful grows in many years. I’ll keep the details of all my indoor and outdoors grows off this thread, but please visit my “Your Opinion” thread if you want to see them. Indoor is Auto Northern Lights x Big Bud. Outdoor was Auto Samango.

I want to thank aknight3 for taking the time and devoting his resources to this auto grow contest. Being able to grow a decent plant in a solo cup is not an easy feat, as many have found out by now (lol). I have seen some beautiful autos on this thread and all of you should feel proud to be able to grow in a solo cup and actually get something. Regardless of who wins the contest, I feel that all of you are winners. I also like seeing the nice comments that you folks have written on all of the replies.

I visited this thread the other day to enjoy new events here and I was very surprised at some of the replies I read. I’m not going to mention any names, but you (and I hope everyone else) know who you are! First I read where a member indirectly accused dankster of cutting out the bottoms of his cups, among other accusations. In addition, a member found it necessary to start picking on me. Comments ranging from “how can his roots be going out of the cup”, or “how can anyone have an auto solo that is three foot tall plus”, “he’s not showing any pictures”, and several more mean statements. I don’t even remember what ak has for prizes and, quite honestly, I don’t really care. This is supposed to be a fun thing for all.

Well, it’s no longer fun for me. At first, I was very very upset that someone would say those things. But then after smoking a bowl (lol) and calming down, I realized that this or these person(s) must either be cheaters themselves or are living a sad life. In either case, these members need our love and respect too! As I had noted before, I have not put any pictures up here throughout my auto grow, but I did put pictures of my auto start. In fact, I had sent a msg to ak asking if it was ok for me to save all of my auto growing pictures for the end of my grow and display them then. So, I figured it was no big deal.

Sorry for rambling on here. The main reason for this post to let aknight3, the judges, and all participants that I am WITHDRAWING my indoor and outdoor auto contest entries. So, I wish everyone involved luck. I have enjoyed nurturing my auto’s to the fullness they have granted me throughout this grow and will continue to watch with a smile on my face. I hope everyone has learned something new in this endeavor and that we continue to get and keep good innovative members like aknight3.

Below are a few pictures for those few members that like seeing the results of hard work. I got tired of going out to tend the flower tent and finding my auto laying on its side. So, the indoor auto had to be braced from the top of the center cola to the frame at the top of the tent. This beautiful girl has 7 colas and the center cola is as thick as my arm and heavy. I cut off the root sections that were growing out of the cup making the plant look ugly, so I hope it doesn’t kill her (there were quite a few and some were already dried up). I harvested my outdoor solo yesterday and she is hanging upside down in juicy thick pieces (lol).

BTW…I still think it was a good idea for one to wait with their pictures and show the entire grow at the end, which would have made life much easier for ak and the judges. I was also putting together a linked list table that users could just click on item by item and never loose where exactly they are in the link. So, you would click on an item (i.e., veg week 2) and a new window would generate all the details and pictures associated with that stage. I did this several years ago in another contest and everyone loved it. In fact, I was tasked to lead the technical side of a contest they had a year later.

Again, sorry for the lengthy reply here, but I feel much better now with that off my back. I want to wish everyone the best of luck and please remember just one thing if nothing else…be kind, courteous, and respectful to all here and have a fun time doing it! I will still be admiring the auto grows here to the end. Ak, my offer still stands that if you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask me. Sorry for all the repetative pictures, but my tent lights were on and I could'nt get the right picture of the indoor.

Love and respect,

Bird Dog

Well hell guys! I said what the hell and went ahead and took the AK-49 tonight. Took pictures of the rootball and all, even trimmed/not trimmed. Again I will post 1 last post on this, and that will be the end product weight. *Just wanted to say over these pasts months I've seen a lot of good looking autos out there! We have some super good growers in our little community. Makes me proud to be part of RIU.

*Again, thanks everyone for following. I wish everyone that's entered into this contest all the luck in the world!

She (AK-49) is now hanging/drying from her roots. I turned her upside down and hung from 1 of my many deer racks..

You guys take er easy..

Glad to hear that you have more beans going bro...looking forward to hearing more. I'm toking Blue Mistic right now. Peace

hey just say my name bro. i made a post telling dank i wasnt calling him out. i was just curious on how roots could contiune to grow outside a cup with light. stop making me out to be a super bully. your using passive aggresive statements towards me that are not merited. im not going to sit here and be belittled by some dick when i was just asking questions. i dont give a care if i win anything or not but it is called a competition whether friendly or not I was just asking if rules where being followed because there hasnt been much input on judges.

friendly question how big where the roots you cut off that may kill the plant?

if you got a problem with me come at me in messages bro not on the forums. im not going to be sit here and have someone put their nose up at me im just a competitive person and if you dont like that well thats your problem dont go blasting me in public when i cleared the statements i said later on in the forums.

why cut off the part that everyone was requesting to see
i dont see how you had that many roots growing out of the cup that they needed to be cut off
must of been a massive root system hanging out if youre worried about it dying
