If they're like the clone they can take a lot of rough treatment.
Pay attention to how the plant grows. That way you can predict how it will do it in future runs. I start with an idea for how I want to shape a plant and often start training on rooting cuttings. It's kinda like the thing Michaelangelo said about seeing the sculpture in the marble, try to see the finished plant in the seed.

some of the leaves at the bottom of my plants are beginning to yellow. could this be nute burn or nute deficiency? before they were getting like 8oz of nutes in half gallon pots then they got 30+oz of nutes in 3 gallon pots both @ 25% recommended dosage. after transplanting i watered, then watered again, then fed..so could be deficiency i'm just not sure.

also bent them waaaaay the fuck down tonight. they are practically at a 90 degree angle now. i just really want this yellow leave thing sorted out.

even went ahead and topped them. this was fucking scary but i thought it should be done. watcha guys think??

Increase the feed a little bit. I'd go to like 35% if you can measure your nutes that accurately. Make sure to keep the growth tip below the other nodes. It can often be bent don a little more than the rest of the main. Hanging a weight like a fishing sinker or a wrench socket works very well.

ok so you think deficiency? that is good to hear. i will up the nutes but just pure water for next time as i fed the time before. thanks for the quick reply.

did i top correctly??

Imo it looks like you took a bit much off the top. 35% increase in nutes sounds sufficient. I would also put some organic local honey on the wound. These sugars are immediately available to the plants and serve as a natural antibiotic. This will shorten recovery time and increase the efficiency of your cut.

In addition it looks like it COULD BE a light calmag issue, but should work itself out with time and stress reduction.

alright then i need to go ahead and find some ph meter calibration solution and start phing my water...i just wasn't bothering before because the leaves were so green so wasn't gonna fuck with it. what ph do i want it to be? using sunshine soilless #4.

and watcha mean too much off the top? i looked up a topping guide and it said to cut like that.

On closer inspection the topping looks good. In about 24-48 hours you should have two new tops if everything went as planned. Which topping technique do you use? I like uncle bens topping threads personally.

I personally do all soil and so have little experience with soilless mediums; however from my understanding the pH should float around 5.8 with an acceptable range of 5.5-6.2.

i just looked up "how to top cannabis" on my phone then chopped away lol. i'm excited to see the plant's reaction to these training techniques.

I generally take less if just topping and more if cloning the top but you chopped her top off and getting over the fear of chopping something off is a good idea.
I was unaware there was so much question about how to chop the top off. More about how much to leave.

What is your medium made of again?

For my perlite and coco mix I pretty much stay at 6.0

My DWC and ebb flow rooms vary. During rooting and early veg.. 5.5 to 5.8
All the other times 5.8-6.4 or so. Don't be obsessive about getting it exact. Let it float around a little. It also helps to dilute your PH up and down so you can add tbls instead of drops. I have a 100 gallon and 225 gallon res so I use glugs.. Glug. Glug. Glug

i didn't have too many questions on how to top just as with everything i like to be very sure i'm doing it right.

my medium is sunshine mix #4. good tip on diluting the ph up/down solution.

the plants are doing really well with their training. on one of the plants it looks like another top is growing back from where i topped. also they are exploding in growth. also a lot of roots coming out the bottom of the pots. not really sure when to transplant to 7 galls. probably should order in the near future though.

Looking good. The plant on the right seems to be forming multiple tops quite nicely
the other plant is producing tops quite nicely as well now. i think i counted 10 tops on one of them.

I was wondering the same thing but I think its lighting. Can you take a flash shot with lights off CCC?
i think it is lighting too.

here's a picture as you've requested:

and two more with lights on.

just gave them 36oz. of 35% strength nutrient water. i think they've been asking for a nute bump so i expect them to react well. maybe it will even clear up that little yellow leaf problem as well.

Your defiantly right on the razors edge of burning them. I would not up the strength of your solution for a couple weeks.

So the tips of your leaves..see how they get thinner rather quickly and some are pointing down... That is how experienced growers know it's time to back off a little. I would probably back off just a hair anyways. Plants DO NOT LIKE strong nutrient solution. It takes much more energy to uptake (active transport...from the biology class you never paid attention in). LOL

Also..you know that 35% of blah blah blah means nothing to allot of us right? Get a ppm pen and know exactly what the salinity of what your giving them is. That way you can write it down and learn (and it's good if you switch nute brands). There are like $30 or something. Maybe $50... Not that much.

I took some pics now I just have to post them. I'll show you my blue dream and some of the training I am doing.

Cheers
