You do realize that salt water is pretty difficult to turn into drinking water or to water plants with?
I have friends with off shore tuna boats that have on board water makers that work pretty good..You can get a very good one for under 5k.. I thought about getting one for my house because I live on the edge of the ocean, but I haven't done it yet..

That wasnt his assertion.

Turning salt water into drinking water is relative. We can do it easily, it is the cost involved that is the barrier.

Ignorance is the greatest threat, closely followed by fear.

"It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it.

The North Korean leader’s recently executed uncle’s close aides – first deputy Ri Ryong-ha and deputy Jang Su-gil - questioned an order from Kim Jong-Un to transfer control of a business to the military. The young leader was reportedly angered as the aides did not respond immediately to his request. According to the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper, Kim Jong-Un was “very drunk” when he ordered the executions as part of the power purge.

BTW, Bottled Courage is what they called strong drink in the Civil War.

Global warming and over population are "maybe" threats to mankind. The coming ice age is inevitable. But even that will not destroy the Earth, just some of the life on it. We were already struck by a planetoid (the one that created our moon) and it didn't destroy the Earth, it made life possible. The Earth will ultimately be destroyed by the sun expanding as it dies, turning it into a lifeless cinder. There is plenty of time before that happens, enough time to be stuck by another large body, destroying all life, and then totally new forms evolving all over again.

And that is why I wish i could have found a relevant link. They had satellite photos; no irrigation. Hard to lie to a satellite.

Nonetheless i am sensitive to your argument. An awful lot gets fabricated and then passed off as first 'reasonable extrapolation' and then canon.
See, my dyslexia read that as cannon. I thought, what a delicious pun!

IAC, I have trained my self over the years to be quite disbelieving of all Popular wisdom of, this and that. And it began for me, with Saganism. It was what I cottoned to first, as they say. Then when I looked at Scientology, I realized, yes, it is possible to just make stuff up. Then the Cold Fusion joke. Then I caught onto lying for a living in sales and that lead me to see that Lying is a high art indeed. And I realized it is the stock in trade for Lawyers and Politicos, and, yes, Astronomer Sell Outs.

Lately there has been real breakthroughs in Brain wave decoding, the first thought controlled devices, etc. And what is the premise, the bedrock of this research?

We all lie constantly. (finally science gets the obvious)

IAC, I was trying to find that Sahara Goat experiment. It sounds like rich fodder for my point. But, I found something better. Another goat experiment, in another desert. A desertification in Poland? Really? Yes, something about mining in the 1300, called the Bledow.

IAC, they have been dealing with it and thought in 50s it was just about recovered. But, now they want to save the Desert of Poland. It was never a natural desert and was re-claiming itself, but now they want it back as sand. Go figure.

So, Saganism says goats create desert by eating all the plants. And if you bring in goats you get your desert back...hey, they are Polish.

But, that idea is as WRONG as Cold Fusion. See? Goats don't create desert, quite the opposite. They create the FIM induced wild growth from close cropping.

So, just more Saganism.

The first attempt involved goats. In 2010, Silesia district authorities hired 100 goats for the job of expanding and enhancing the desert. The project’s initial managers found goats terrifically successful at chomping down the scrub and grasses that bloomed across the desert floor.

Too soon they also discovered that although the animals proved adept at destroying leaves and stalks, they were less skilled at consuming root systems. An area of goat-cleared land, briefly and beautifully a desert once more, sprouted fresh shrubs and saplings as soon as the goats relocated to fresh pasture.

Verdict: disaster.

What are you talking about? Saltwater that has been turned into freshwater falls from the sky. No effort required.
Oh, I forgot we can just make it rain where ever we want to and at any time that it is convenient.

Red, what does everyone forget about Rain Control?

So you are denying that freshwater falls from the sky because it doesn't happen on the schedule you want it to?

Ah, someone denying rain happens at all, since it doesn't happen when they say it should?

So, you are giant among logicians with that construct, I guess.

Not a construct, a question. You made a stupid comment. I asked about it. Don't get all butthurt.

Don't start with that. You can't hurt me, silly boy. Your are just deflecting now. You threw stupidity in.

We are talking about the real problem with fresh water resources and you took a shit on that with, a very sophomoric comment.

I pointed out the supply of drinking water is infinite, but you keep insisting we will run out. Chicken Little cries of doom are deserving of derision.

Here is an interesting history of the Environment. Seems widely acceptable enough to make Wikipedia. Here is just an excerpt. Of note, the rapid increase in temps in the Antarctic foresaw, the sea level min and glacier max in only 1000 years. A tiny warm up like we see today, could mean we are crashing back to Ice.

But, then only 6000 years later, a 20 meter sea rise. And we think We have anything to do with it? Nonsense.

That is interesting. I accepted as true that goats root out the living reservoirs of the plants.
i still have a fallback argument. Perhaps increasingly desperate goatherders kept the goats on the land until the starving buggers rooted out every last living calorie. It's plausible, but it takes more than "plausible" to float such a big argument. Nuclear winter is a similar thing ... it's built on a pyramid of the plausible, but i suspect there are some serious errors of extrapolation underlying it. I for one don't believe nuclear winter would have been a real issue, not as much as, say, large-scale fallout. Ad that, while a hardship, would have been survivable in my estimation as well.

Yes, heavy industrialization in 13,000 BC caused a rise in sea levels. Derp Der

I am not insisting anything, but I do suggest you are being an idiot troll, again.

No one has said a word about running out of drinking water, but you. But, you suggest mankind doesn't have to worry, since there is rain. And you create this straw dog to argue with yourself, I guess, And you act like rain is a reliable source for everyone but it is not. And everyone knows that except you, somehow.

You are rolling square on troll tires, yet again.
