Instead of thinking about how it can profit you - by way of a new gun or grow light - think about the roles being reversed... how would you want the guy to handle YOUR plants he finds growing on HIS land... in that question you will find the answer to this quandary.

I guess if you wanted to let the dude finish out the grow I would do like mentioned above - leave a note close to harvest time stating that you monitored his grow and have trail cam pics of him tending plants etc. Finish off by saying "you're a lucky S.O.B. that I'm so kind and understanding...

I've heard that a kiln dry = like they do good lumber... will really reduce moisture... down to like 5 or 6% but the smoke tastes like green-treated pine 2x4's... to each his own.
