I would look to get a decent ph pen, it will give you a more accurate reading especially if you maintain it well. If you are getting a ph of 9+ out of your tap then that's going to be the reason you need so much ph down. The ph scale is logarithmic so you have to take that into consideration

That's very strange. Do you wait 30 minutes to an hour between adding whatever you use for PH down and testing? Also what is the PH of your water to when it comes out of the tap?

Gavita's prices where I am jumped up a small amount in January and that was Gavita raising their prices but it was negligible. I think because SS do a lot of business between Canada and the US they've been hit a bit by the currency fluctuations and that's probably caused the price changes

Thanks for the feedback. I like the lineup but soil grows and coco grows are really difficult for us. The quality of both is so poor here that as soon as you open up the sealed bags and leave them for a couple of days you get a ton of insects which you just can't bring into your garden...

I think with smaller grows it's easier because you can control every part of your environment that little bit better but for a bigger grow it's just more difficult because of size. it's possible but you really have to get it all dialed in right and be on the ball at every stage of the game.

GPW is too vague a number. The reason I say that is if grower A get 0.9gpw has a big commercial grow where he grows a lot of plants at a time with short veg times but grower B gets 1.5gpw with a small plant count and very long veg times how do you compare all the other factors? Something like...

You can test your soil that's fine but just remember that soil tends to buffer ph so you may water and test, find it's where you want it to be but after it dries out a bit the ph will have risen back up to quite a high level. Can I ask what soil you used?
