well for me it was because I am a girl and not a handy one.... I cant cut a hole in my ceiling to extract the heat if I use HPS. also cant build some kind of fancy box. so CFL dont produce a lot of heat and it is very easy for me to have a little set up in my closet. pretty much thats why I do it.

why do you do it that way? I do the opposit. I lower the PH in my water and then I add my nutes

usually the cfls dry my dirt out really fast (I plant my seeds in a solo cup) I notice the dirt dries out fairly quickly and I end up watering more often in the beginning. I always wait till the dirt is dry before I water. I know thats not the answer youre looking for. sorry.

when I just stick the seeds right in the dirt, it can take anywhere from 3-5 days to sprout. keep the dirt moist.
