I run hydro and in my humble opinion, if you need PH up and PH down, you're doing something wrong. I only use PH down.

Your tap water should be a higher PH no? If so just add that. I know mine is about 6.8. Failing that, potassium silicate. I use Potsil. Use is sparingly though, it's strong stuff.

You'd be surprised how strong duct tape is. Buy the quality stuff. In the UK it's called 'Gorilla' tape. Wrap it around the joint a few times and it'll hold. You could also add that clamp if you wanted, but personally i can't see that it will achieve much more than just the tape.
