PH is your number one thing to watch. It can fluctuate pretty heavily and if it does you need to be on top of it. A few days of off ph can kill a plant. Once you learn your system and nutes you will most likely get it nice and stable.

I would suggest an autoflowering plant for the first, they are just simple and fast to see what is going to happen with your grow first hand. As a plus they are pretty tolerant to mistakes. But of those i would go for red dragon. Medium height, decent flower time(9 weeks or so), and quality...

how big are they already? keep in mind what kerovan said. a 2 foot plant could get to 6 feet. If your height is going to be a problem top it now, give it a week or so to recover and pop her into flower.

Leave the soil ones be. Hydro can be tricky, it has a way of throwing curveballs. At least if you have some nice soil grows going you have some herb in case you kill the hydro :) Then once your comfortable get those other buckets and go. for PH generally 5.8 for hydro is what you shoot for.

Looks like fun. For flower you could easily put two more t5s on the back wall. the two footers are around 2000 lumens each (the HO anyway). so just the 4 would be 8,000 lumens. I imagine that with even a little top light will give you nice flower power. what is the dimensions of grow area?

i see you can leave for up to two weeks on the res, but how often do you change the nutes if given your choice?

I agree with the fun part. Everything i look at these days turns into a mental growbox. It can get quite intrusive.

^ that's what I was going to suggest. They sell green bulbs at walmart. They are just painted cfls so not entirely sure. I do know the orange bulbs are advertised to keep away bugs(rather not attract them) and they work great.

What is the optimal (not max) coverage of these lights. (90, 180,300) I just bought a growledhydro led unit based off a few journals, one in particular was a comparison agains the hss. What made you go hss?

As for overkill, the 600 will be good, but not nearly overkill. Figure the 600 puts down 100k lumens (tad under) divide that by 16 (4x4) and you get around 6000 lumens a sq ft. Actual light will be less, but it is a good optimal conditions estimate. Have fun!

Keep in mind that hps is not the enemy. The heat is easily manageable and usually works together with your air exchange in such a tent. A 400w CMH system would put out a little less heat and produce some sweet bud on the cheap. Outputs around 40,000 lumens. T5s get hot too and are harder to...
