    Noob questions regarding cob/blurples

The paradigm is shifting! The majority of the growers here run under straight 3000k without stretching issues. Give the plants the right amount of light and they won't stretch.

    Lukios Secret Garden pt II

Notice any gain from the red enhancement to the QBs? Or was one strip not enough to make much difference? IIRC, you were thinking of adding yet another red strip to that tent?

    Noob questions regarding cob/blurples

But why spend the money powering 500 watts of blurple, only to get a yield equal to 300 watts of strips? OP can return the blurples for a refund and come out ahead on all counts!

    Noob questions regarding cob/blurples

People who've seen me post this before are probably sick of hearing it, but COBs don't provide better penetration than strips/boards. Most people have the impression that penetration is an effect of intensity, but it's diffusion that penetrates. Diffuse light can be achieved with strips, boards...

Not sure what strips you were reading about, but Samsung F series strips should last a good 50,000 hours.

Cree ante up on Deep Red/ Far Red

That's great to know, thanks! The customization makes your lights that much more attractive. The wallet is on lockdown till after Christmas, but as soon as the wife gives the all-clear, I'll reach out. What would you suggest? I'm looking for a mix of 660 and 630, and I'd love to be able to run...

Cree ante up on Deep Red/ Far Red

Definitely closer to what I'm looking for, but these are a little overkill for my purposes. I want to be able to run four such strips at 10-15 watts per. Looking to add red to a 250w 3000k fixture at a ratio of 15-20% of the main light's max power. The design of my light makes it necessary that...

Well clearly we all have common ground, or we wouldn't be here. Let's focus on the good shit, guys!

    Adding vertical light

I already have the garden area enclosed in four layers of plastic drop-cloth; it helps, but it isn't nearly good enough. The basement is unheated, and averages in the mid-to-upper 40's (F) in the winter. Add to that the fact that my humidifier took a shit after the beans cracked.

    Adding vertical light

I'm counting on that myself. A perfect storm of shitty environmental conditions have transpired to fuck with the seeds I recently popped. Poor little buggers are so damn stunted, and have barely grown at all over the last week or so. It's been a mad scramble to compensate for the wretched...

    Beautiful plants, brother!

    help choosing QB kit

I would recommend the 132s over the 120s, for the extra juice (75w per board rather than 60w). My concern with that configuration would be the same as yours with the 320 in your 2.5' wide tent - getting sufficient light to the edges of the canopy. But it would still be a solid option.

    help choosing QB kit

The 320 wouldn't roast his plants at the appropriate power, but you do make a good point about the efficiency of the driver. It would be worth knowing how that trade-off turned out, overall fixture-efficiency-wise.

    help choosing QB kit

Yeah, that would be a great option, provided he can keep the boards cool. My only concern would be that in a 2' wide space, the 120s would have to be placed right next to each other, so there wouldn't be airflow between the boards. But a couple of small, well-placed fans above the fixture could...

light spread for two 3x3 tents

I do agree that you should not use reflectors.

Cree ante up on Deep Red/ Far Red

    I just want a 1' (or less) 630/660nm strip.

    help choosing QB kit

But even at a power well under its max - say 30w/sq ft - with 864 diodes, running more efficiently than your average fixture, due to being run further below the diodes' limit, the 320 will kick ass in that space. But a strip build would be cheaper, and would also kick ass in that space.
