    You think you know lighting?

Hey guys, Can I throw a little curve ball in here to try to stir up some shit? I'd just like to add my view of penetration when it comes to lighting size and bud density. The phenomenon I speak of is called "light pressure". Light pressure is directly correlated to the intensity of a single...

Fluorescent bulbs just red or blue?

I understand that as far as plants are concerned, less lumens of a better spectrum can support more growth, but aren't initial lumens also how we as humans can measure and distinguish the expected penetration of a bulb? Could a bulb that produces so much less light (albeit better light) still...

Boost CO2 levels in your water

People get confused about this. I you are growing underwater plants in an aquarium, you need dissolved CO2, but we grow plants in the air, only their roots are in the water. Additionally, CO2 reactors adjust the dissolved CO2 to lower the PH of the solution. This would probably wreak havoc in a...

    6" PVC system

Actually, did you check out the SOG Grow Op? He runs PVC up in the corners of pvc fencepost, pretty much the same as the aeroflo's "laser drilled spray line", except little sprayer heads are threaded in rather than tiny holes for the sprayers. I've thought about it. I'm not sure which is more...

Fluorescent bulbs just red or blue?

hmmm... Now I realize that the spectrum effect the PAR, but the 24" blue only emits 550 lumens at 24 watts? Wouldn't that really wipe out it's effective coverage/penetration? I'll bet you could really get some super-tight internodes using these a suplementary lighting, though.

Fluorescent bulbs just red or blue?

So I wonder, then, why design the bulb around a kelvin temp vs. an exact nanometer?

    Aeroponic timing questions

The standard is 1/5. This may not be optimal for cannabis. It does ensure the roots never dry out too much and that not enough spray accumulates to cause matting. It's likely that even different strains would prefer different timings, depending on how damp of a climate they'd originated from.

    Advanced nutrients aero help

The best advice I have is to only use chemical, non-organic fertilizers in aero. This comes direct from General Hydroponics. Powdered nutes are fine if they are not organic and are mixed well in liquid before adding to the res.

my first areo grow and im loving it

The spacing on an aeroflo is tight for most plants. If you have a shitload of light and air circulation, you can veg up to 10-12" and lollypop. If your light is more of a normal coverage and your circulation isn't outrageaus, flower at 6-8". I noticed the aeroflo performs best when ran on a...

    aeroponics roots too long?

You're using a Aeroponic/DWC hybrid? Like a RainForest? Add a good airstone to the res. It greatly increased growth rate on my RainForest system. Look into the micropore air diffusers. They clog less than stones.

help me i have an areoflo2 30 site

Also, I like to aim the spray jets into the corner at the exact point that the water surface meets the wall of the tube. This seems to give the best misting/NFT oxygenation. Good luck!

    Aeroponic Fogger / Cloner

Are those the teflon coated discs? I've heard that there is supposed to be a huge difference with the amount of time it takes to clog those vs. the ceramic discs. Never tried myself.

Fluorescent bulbs just red or blue?

I don't think the technology exists. The bulbs are oriented towards 6500k or 3000k, but they can't focus down to the nanometer like they can with LEDS. Knowing only a small amount about how flourescent bulbs work, it doesn't seem feasible to me. I think that they are already "dialed in" to the...

are the t5 mentioned here sme as

I think I've seen them there, not sure. Not fixtures, just bulbs. You'd be surprised. They're making a name for themselves in commercial lighting, just a little behind the T8s, I think.

    8x8ft how many lights?

Your footprint is your challenge. I'd treat it as (4) 4x4 areas and use (4) 600w lamps.

Can't keep the humidity up on clones!!!

Heat helps water to evaporate faster, thereby increasing R.H. I use a heat mat under the tray and an open cup of water next to the plants. Because it is heated it helps. Adding a cup of water without the heat probably won't do shit.
