I got a bit of that black fabric you use at the bottom of a planter container to keep weeds out, but I honestly think its overkill, as this isn't a DWC, so I don't expect that kind of root growth with this system. Fran: As far as I understand things, if your light has a switchable mode (ex: area51's two modes), flipping to the second mode is fine. Adding or subtracting different lights during the comp isn't. But, TKO is the official word, so will let him weigh in, all official like.

Its fine ordering beans within Canada, from my experience. Vancouver seed bank, BC Bud Depot, Crop King, Jordan of the Islands are all good west coast breeders/seedbanks. There are others. GTA SB is good out of Toronto. Pick your poison, m8.

That party cup tray I made is connected to the plumbing of the whole system. When it's ebbing, it's actually pumping less water than 5 x 16oz into that area, as the cups only get flooded about 1/3 of the way up. It's really not a lot of water being used...Dawg can't read and is blowing things...

But you still outright called me a cheater, although I think I've been quite transparent from the start, and fall within the rules. Everything is contained within the cup. I'm just automating the watering part of the process. Its no different than setting up a drip system or any other technique...

If you all green lighted DWC a number of pages back but balk at my setup, I call your bullshit, anyone that complains. If my roots explode out of my cup like Dawgs did, it's my own damn fault and I'm out...easy. I don't think attempting this gives me any legs up. Nor is it cheating. I think...

What kind of screen material do you suggest? I'm not looking to have the roots exit the cup for practical reasons, as if they did, the cups couldn't stand up in the tray, which would be a problem.

I dont mind taking a weekly picture of the bottom of the cup, for a roots check. But with this setup, its going to be hard to work with roots outside of the cup anyhow, as I've designed these to be self contained systems. Roots outside of the Party Cup would inhibit its ability to stand up...

I totally disagree, and think you're making something out of nothing. Any medium/method is allowed as long as roots are fully contained inside the Party Cup. Period. Maybe you should put more effort into innovation, instead of whining like a wee puppy. I guess its up to TKO since its his comp.

The roots will be fully contained in the party cup. There are tiny holes in the bottom of the cup, to let water in and up thru the hydroton. The holes are too small to let much of anything out. In actuality, the holes in the bottom of my party cup are exactly the same size as they were last...
