    AK47 OUTDOOR

Check out Septoria as a cause of your yellow spots. The photo is not close enough to tell. I have Septoria on my lower leaves of my plant and my tomatoes and I usually do. I have never seen it get out of hand.

    Solis Maximus Rapidly Approaching

Here we go... the days are getting shorter. Thermal summer will peak last week of July around here. Maximum potential wildfire smoke sometime in late August.

Did I plant in 30 gallon containers too soon?

I had mine in a peat pot for 2 or 3 days before I stuck it into planet earth in May. Less hassle watering than peat pots. I remove the plastic mesh before I planted in the ground. Anyway the plant is healthy despite a few mornings around 40 degrees.

No air for me either. One of these years I shall get a mini split or something but until then I take the heat as it comes.

Into the frying pan for the south valley. That should get the Sierra snowmelt going good.

I suppose these hotspots are being closely monitored. How are they shaping up so far?

    Dechlorinate city water?

I too am leary of these claims of no harm chlorine. I suspect chloride salts are the result of the "filtering" process in the top inch of soil. I get no rain from now until September or October so there is nothing to flush out the salts but more chlorinated water.

One of the things I do in summer is help clear blowdown from trails in wilderness areas. We use crosscut saws and yes we curse the big 3 footers but it is a good workout and it is satisfying to walk back to the vehicles without having to climb over blowdown. Our blowdown happens in fierce...

What becomes of all the blowndown trees? Are all salvaged or do they leave some for animal habitat? I'm assuming that it is mostly if not all private property around there?

    Dechlorinate city water?

I thought I 'd give it a try, my instincts are to duplicate natural water and thus my experiment here. If chlorinated water was a significant detriment to plants we probably would have heard about it by now. The consensus so far is that chlorine only affects the upper inch or two or three, but...

    Dechlorinate city water?

Boy, do I feel dumb. I just wasted $21 on two filters. I haven't been suckered this bad since I sent away for the All Star Cha Cha record set from KTEL. It was awful.

I see you are in the yellow zone on the US drought map. Yellow is abnormally dry so not a true drought designation yet. My area is in a normal stage for the first time in a while.

Weather drama is a "thing" on the news these days. And the beauty of it is that there is always somewhere in distress.

    Dechlorinate city water?

Yes to all of the above. I use the set it out in the pail method as well. I'm trying these filters in line so I can dechlorinate my drip system delivery while I'm sitting in a hammock on the Rogue River or escaping the heat at the coast, a hands off approach. I don't think it can hurt, I've...

    Dechlorinate city water?

Any other city slickers dechlorinate their water? I just picked up some inline filters that provide good flow and claim to reduce chlorine greatly. Since I'm in the summer arid west and I rely on irrigation I thought it might be worth a try to eliminate the chlorine and stop killing the top...

Fresno flooding on Memorial Day weekend, what are the odds? Every time I've driven through the valley it seems that there hasn't been rain for months.
