    Setup and Light Advice Please

AJ -- I gotta concur with Sober on this one -- a solid HPS light will do wonders over a CFL light. You might also consider just a plain HPS light rather than the MH/HPS light. I started with MH on the veg and HPS on the flower like most people. Over time, I've moved towards HPS on both sides...

    Humidity Promblem/Question(s) PLEASE HELP!

JuiceMC -- You are right to be concerned about the humidity level. Jonas has a good question though -- are you still moving air through / around your operation when the lights are off? Moving some fresh air in for about an hour after the lights are off should help to clear out that air. Some...

hydroponic system or old school dirt

Joe -- I'm going to agree with GanjaMan on this one. I've just joined this board and have put up quite a few responses so far today :-) and I don't want to sound preachy or adamantly pro dirt etc so I'll give it a go -- I started with hydro myself a little over four years ago. It was an...

Hello, first post and first indoor project :)

Driver -- I see a few issues with your setup: 1) You will probably never need a small heater to warm the space up - period. I thought that as well when I first started growing, but in the entire time I've never once worried about temps getting too cool. The problem you're going to have is...

    Light Mover?

Herb -- The room that you are growing in ... are you using Mylar on the walls? If not, perhaps you should give that a try. It definitely helps to reflect light back towards your plants, even better that plain white walls.

    How do i start growing

Joe -- I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest to you that you definitely do not start growing with hydro. I know, I know, everyone says that its the best. And I didn't forget how many hit singles Snoop Dogg had all about the 'hydro indo'. Personally, I'm a very smart person and love...

    gettin rid of the smell?

B3an -- I think I've got a handle on what your asking .... OK Growing potent herb can and does generate some very satisfying aromas that can give you away to neighbors. However, they are not going to seep through the wall to your neighbors house though. If you had a can fan or something that...

    Clones

Enterprise -- I would also say yes to your question. Younglings like the bright diffuse light from fluorescent lights and you can get the lighting right up on top of the leaves. Heck, I had to mommas that got to be about 3 or 4 feet tall under a bank of 8 fluorescent tubes.

    can you re-use soil?

I've heard of operations that had large trough's of dirt (Sunshine #4) that they would just plug a small plant into and use the dirt for two or three cycles. At harvest, they would just pull the plant right up out of this trough by the trunk and then plug another plant into its slot...

    question about foliage

trollmage -- I regularly get a yellowing and a die off of the large main fan leaves that hang off the center trunk late into flower. You have to remember that flowering is a very stressful time in the life of the plant. Nutrients are being turned from growing leaves, stems, etc and being...

    Help with lighting heat

I would also add to keep your ballast out of the closet and just hang the light in there. I'm running a 400w HPS in a 3'x7' closet for vegging and can keep the door closed without the temps or humidity going crazy (~~82F & 30% humidity).

    buying equipment

ShagMan -- I've purchased quite a bit of equipment from eBay, online supply stores and locally. All using my bank debit card. I used to think about this when I first started several years ago but .... there comes a point when you are spending more time inventing crazy '24' scenarios...

    Do nutes go bad?

I grow in soil and use Age Old Organics nutrients exclusively. Last spring I took a short break and left half a jug of nute sitting around. It was flower nute so I didn't use it again for a while. When I opened the jug up, there was an inch thick mat of mold growing on top of the solution. I...

    Oh No burnt tips

I tend to see brown tips when I've gone just a wee bit too long between waterings. I also grow in soil (Sunshine #4) and use air conditioners to help control the temp and the humidity. Because the air is so dry and my plants get so large, the buckets I grow in can be almost parched less than a...
