not sure when too hot is too hot,
but i get temps over 120 for the better part of summer,and they have full sun all day.
and they seem to thrive in this climate.
a simple chicken wire fence will stop that.
rabbits will only eat them when they are young,when they get bigger they leave them alone,(that is my observations anyway and i live in bunnyville as we call it 1 rabbit per square foot :hump:).
yep a bit of manure,some perlite and the soil that is there will be fine(you might want to take a cheap ph tester with you to test the ph)

Ground coffee is high in nitrogen,
making it a very good mulch for fast-growing vegetables.
Many organic growers swear by coffee grounds as mulches for tomato plants.:hump:

mix up a series of small batches with varying amounts of the ingredients till you get a mix you are happy with then check its ph and adjust accordingly
