A/C vs. IceBox & Water Chiller

Maybe they are more efficient than mini-splits. I wanted to do a mod and either have water dripping on the outside coils of a mini-split (that could be tricky to do though right) or using a pool or hot tub for the heat sink. You can't argue with earth/water cooling being more efficient than just...

    Heaths Flooded Tube Vertical

I'm going to try these out on my Phantom digital 600 watt ballasts. I heard about a Sylvania Grolux bulb trick to break in with digital ballasts from a bghydro dealer: "The problems with the 400W version of the Grolux were happening on both magnetic and electronic ballasts (I believe). But, I...

I heard putting them through a dark period (24-36 hours) will get them to flower earlier by several days.

Yeah my Easyshare uses AA batteries as well. The newer better lithium batteries also come in AA & AAA sizes. I'm just so pissed at my other vtech home phone that uses expensive proprietary batteries I swear I'd never get another device w/one (well besides a notebook or ipad). If I took apart my...

I have a Kodak Easyshare from 2002 and it's not too shabby, but takes forever to flash once you take a picture. Now my Olympus a few years old REALLY sucks, just about any camera phone will blow it away. I heard Canon and Nikon are much better cameras (what the pros use). Doesn't have to cost an...

Super cool tree king! If your growing shrubs or trees with aero, it's recommended you use at least 8" PVC or similar diameter material. Unless your doing SOG or similar. For now I'm sticking w/buckets and Igloos in rdwc (big shrubs). Let me know when you hit 1-2+ gpw. ;)

whats your avg weight per plant using dwc/undercurrent/bubble buckets/ebbngrow ?

Twilight zone?! Doubleds pulls 4 lb plants indoors, and in no means is he alone in that regard. I have a ton of links w/pics and proof. There's a difference in numbers between grams/watt and zips per plant btw. For one thing these growers are using MASSIVE watts per plant, like 1-3,000. Doubleds...

whats your avg weight per plant using dwc/undercurrent/bubble buckets/ebbngrow ?

I'm going for (6 plants vertical donut under 1,200 watts) X 2. So that's 12 plants under 2,400 watts. I may expand to 3,600 watts w/my 2 donuts next year. Going for big shrubs or small trees, 5 gallon buckets & 8 weeks veg. Also next year might swap out 5 gallon buckets for 12 gallon Igloo...

The best quality for the buck 600w hps electronic ballast out there?

I like the Phantom @ Greentrees Hydroponics (hydroponics.net) or other hydro stores online, maybe ebay. Greentrees also has package deales w/bulb, ballast & reflector of your choice (ballast would be $160.46). IMO a bargain!

    big cfl question

Thanks too c3llblock. I just found my "bare bulb" cfl and they are more efficient too. Called PL-L, basically are T5 fluorescent lights (high efficiency) folded. Efficiency is 87 lumens/watt. Found this link for DIY (so I can custom hang vertical bare bulb I believe): 6 x 55 watt Bright Kit...

Well GC has been down all day. Been doing Google searches and their link just doesn't load. Fine, I'll find my info on PL-L bare fixtures and bulbs (DIY?) somewhere else (like here)!

    big cfl question

Pretty much goes by lumens/sq ft (or better yet PAR). Depending of the efficiency of your 68 watt cfl (which I'm guessing typically is 60-85 lumens/watt) you are getting about 4,080-5,440 lumens. That's just about enough for 1 sq ft coverage per light. 3,000 lumens/sq ft is minimum, 5,000/sq ft...

    600w dimmable ballast run a 400w bulb?

I've been reading up on this and I don't think so. You're never supposed to run a lower wattage bulb on a ballast. You can run a 600 watt bulb and dim it to 50% or 75%. I'm not sure if you still get the right PAR or lumen output proportionately but if you search: "no unfortunately, the ballast...

DWC Undercurrent closet grow design coming to life

I don't know why nobody replied, that's gorgeous including results! Found you on Google search looking for inline pumps for my 12 plant 3,600 watt vertical tree grow. Might choose the Danner Mag-Drive inline 1,200 GPH Pump that UC uses. Darn, the UC Pro model uses 35 gallon growth...
