light is now vented separately, pulling air in from outside then venting it back outside. glad i was am up late. took a peek in there and the intake duct was dripping condensation like rain. didn't even think of that. will pick up some duct insulation tomorrow. even taping a towel or three around it would do the trick, anything to insulate it.

ran CO2 tubing around the top of the tent and patched it in to the CO2 system on the nearby cabinet. it will get the CO2 drip basically 5 minutes on, 5 off. once a few issues are worked out it will be more like 8 - 10 minutes on/off.

need a fan/filter to vent the tent asap. surprisingly so far, with no vent fan whatsoever, tent is hanging out at around 81f, room +10f or so. humidity es no bueno however without regular venting.

Alright who's the smart guy who will immediately find what is going to go wrong with the above vent plan?

...

.....

times up.

Air coming in to the light vents from the outside is TOO cold! This formed huge amounts of condensation when the cold air passed through the warm grow areas, dripping off the ducting like rain. The cooltube in the cabinet (next in line from the 4x4 light) was fogged up really well, and opening the doors was like stepping into a cloud bank. Really cool effect if my plants there weren't in week 9. 4x4 no problems, it dripped quite a bit they will be fine.

So undoing the vent system. It must draw in room temp air, then exhaust out, which means today we spend some time destroying potential odor, 'cause these SFV smell gooooooood.

Tent now draws room air through a 20"x16" charcoal filter, into the light, then eventually exhausts it directly outside (outdoors). Much better now.
Added a 4" C.A.P. econo inline fan with a 6"x24" active air filter. Works fine so far. Should eat through the tent air in less than a minute.

3 total air filters working the room now. Completely odorless. Nada. Nothing. Bong rips stink for a few minutes but, leave to take a piss and come back, gone like your little sister's bike.

Loud in here now though! These CAP fans work great but I will upgrade to something much quieter at some point. Especially the 6" CAP econo powering the big charcoal filter.

So we've got CO2 hitting the tent now with a cycle of 9 minutes on, 5 minutes venting. This is based on the EVC-1 in the adjoining grow cabinet. Both cabinet and tent share the same CO2 system, from tank to reg to cycle control. Tent vents when cabinet does, but tent surely doesn't need it. No temp problem whatsoever in there. Could run the 1000w with CO2 level good and never need to vent for high temp. It really likes to hang out at around 81f.

humidity has been 40-50%.

I have a back up reservoir that I use to distill water while waiting for my next batch of nutes.. BUT I DONT KNOW if this is right. im a first timer, but i was told that leaving water out for a couple of days distilled it. is this correct? also.. instead of ph downer solution.. i was told lime juice and lemon juice would work.. is this harmful to my plants? doubtful but what the F do i know? thanks for yalls help

Great news. All res temp estimates have been very high. Res temp has actually been under 75f the entire time. Excellent!

no flush, add back 5 gallons tap
100ml protekt
70ml cal/mag
75ml sensizyme
45ml liquid karma
100ml each sensi bloom a & b
and two scoops of great white.

ph 5.8, 1600 ppm, 73f res

Man ive been trying to figuar this out of a while now how did you connect the hose to that 5 gallon bucket ????????????????????

I can see a bit of stress on the tops of the SFV. I would recommend raising the light another inch or so and bringing down res temps. The floppy leaves at the top look like it could be a pH issue (are you still having pH issues in this system?), but if not it is definitely the temps, any luck finding a chiller?

I was thinking about using a over powered system like you suggested, but I'm afraid higher water pressures could damage or inhibit root growth. But other than a little stress at the top the plants look great, I probably wouldn't hit 1600ppms again, my SFV seems to have a limit of 1400, at least as far as I've seen. But Great White sure is expensive to be using with tap water, why not buy a dechlorinator? Fuck R/O, wastes way to much water, and has no benefit over a dechlorinator, besides lower PPM's to start off with. Dechlorinators are cheap, waste no water, and run much faster than R/O systems.

bulkheads make it possible to connect hoses to whatever with a hole in it. any hydro shop sells them in a variety of sizes.

i just happen to have a shitload of greatwhite so i throw it in there. i do (usually) let the tap water air out at least a couple of hours which should help the chloro but yeah would be better to use something else.

chiller at a good price on CL right now but my budget for the month is exhausted on the new fans and filters, which passed the awesome test today. couple of cops standing around not 15 feet from my new outside vent, talking to neighbors about some other shit. all the while, huffing my pot plant exhaust .. muahaha. res temp though shouldn't be too bad at 73, maybe even a little under today. room temp is now pretty much stable at 75f, so res shouldn't be more than 73 from now on. AC hasn't even been turned on once. new vent system for teh win.

was going to ask you about those floppy leaves. ive noticed them as well, the new growth flops out on these. was thinking it was a strain thing but i'll pull lights up now knowing otherwise. they are a bit yellow on the top which made me think micronutrient issue, hence some of my adjustments yesterday. if it gets worse i'll probably flush and reformulate. we are week 3 into the same sauce in the res.

light going up a couple of inches right now. temp has been steady at about 80 at the tops, 78 a bit below. should be about perfect. humidity is 55-60% but not much I can do about it. should be alright, but not great.

edit: went ahead and moved light up, but plants look alot less floopy today. much more pointing up toward the light. swear its the liquid karma that i dosed heavy last night. 5 hour energy for your plants.

also more good news. pulled out one of the clones that i didn't like the looks of. dissected it. zero bugs, zero signs of anything. so i rummaged through some of the tent pots. all the spots where i saw mystery bugs before .. nada. im sure they are still around, but i think these things really preferred coco. more research is needed, but no signs of any bugs this week.

Added a GH dual diaphragm 20l /min air pump, couple of little manifold valve thingies, and 6" micro tiny bubble air stones. 4 of the 6 pots done. Ready to finish the others. Need more air stones.
the tiny bubble ones are awesome. way better than the cheaper ones i'm using in the cabinet. between these and the force of the sauce flowing into the buckets, it's beautiful. Looking forward to seeing if it makes a difference in the coming days.
The pump is silent. Mounted on a rubber plate sort of thing. Next time will have to see if they make a more powerful version of the same thing. Get mah bubbles blastin off.

finished off the bubbles in the pots. these fine bubble air stones are awesome. between the incoming sauce and bubbles, it looks like a fucking volcano going off in these buckets.
also noticed ive been using 4", not 6" airstones.

trimmed off a load of fan leaves today. aiming to make sure viable bud sites are not shaded out. wish i could post some damn pics but everything i take under the light comes out with lines through it. i'll catch it before lights on one of these days.

still zero sign of any bugs. roots look fantastic. i dont see the addition of bubble stones making a whole lot of difference at this point but it sure has made a nice root zone.

Nooooo!!!! Never ever ever ever trim off perfectly good fan leaves during flower! I swear to god, if you leave them on you will get the exact same sized buds, if not bigger, with the same density if not more, but with much more flavor, and it will help maintain over all plant health. The leaf's job is to transport sugars to your buds, you just shut down your main sugar factories feeding bud production at those sites. The little leaves still do it, but not to the same degree. That is why branches during veg with fan leaves are easier to turn into main stocks during LST and topping, the leaf is doing all the foot work.

No more of that stuff. My friend knocked 2 leaves off my freshly flowering Strawberry Cough while spraying down for mildew, and I nearly got an ulcer over it.

Also: the dual diaphragm air pump by GH kicks fucking ass. I have another friend who has had his for 20-some-odd years.

no worries on those leaves. i did not get all slaugherhouse in there. you ought to hang out with me when i go ranforest clearing under a scrog screen sometime.

look into defoliation. while i dont want to go that drastic, 2 cycles of overgrown scrog has shown me what happens to buds that are decent size enough but shaded out. just a little light getting on to the buds themselves is enough to convince the plant that they are worth the effort. 24 hours later, these girls look better than ever. top leaves reaching up and everything.

i really like this pump so far. it's quieter than any air pump ive ever used. i'd love more power but it's doing fine for this.

more shitty pics from camera phone.

im using a combination of vermiT, great white, and companion to pretty much cover all the same bases as voodoo juice/tarantula/etc from AN at a fraction of the price. I'm sure the more expensive AN stuff has additional benefits, but for what it's worth, i noticed significantly different root development after starting this cocktail of benes.
