Wish I'd seen your journal thread sooner. You started not too long after I started my 5 Easy Ryder/1 Onyx grow. I was pretty obsessive about taking pics for the first 2-3 weeks, so take a look at my journal for a good comparison of how my CFL growth compares against your LED growth. I too grew in FFOF soil, and I didn't add any nutes whatsoever until they started to flower at around 19 days, and then I only added Liquid Bloom from Dyn-gro, although I've cut back on that and started adding molasses at least once a week. I did use a couple additives pretty much from day 1: An enzyme product called Hygrozyme, and a Silicon solution called Pro-Tekt from Dyna-Gro.

Don't even try to compare our Onyx grows though, at least not past day 10 or so. I severely stunted my Onyx accidentally at around day 12-14 from seed, when she was exposed to 100+ degree temps for over 48 hours, along with one of my Easy Ryders. Both suffered to be sure, but the Onyx suffered the worst because of her age and size, and really didn't grow at all for a week or more after that. That pretty much was the end of her Veg phase, so although she's flowering she's barely grown any larger and is only around 5" tall at day 30 :(. The Easy Ryder that was exposed with her also stopped development for about a week, and suffered some burning. On top of that I dropped a light right on her cola not once but twice, slicing off one of her top two main branches. She's rebounded fairly well though and is now the largest of all my Easy Ryders, although her flowers are clearly about a week behind the others in development not surprisingly.

Anyway, take a look, and I'm very much interested to follow your grow, so please post more pics. I know others are just as interested as I am to see how well you do with that LED since most are very skeptical of LED grows. I definitely would have told you to put your LED WAAAAY closer to your plants (like 1-2"), but if the manufacturer says the ideal distance is around 22-24" I guess you can try it their way this time. I keep my CFLs no more than 2" away at all times to maximize the lumens that my girls receive. It can be tasky, especially when they go through their stretch phase and are growing about an inch a day, but it's the most efficient.

Here's the link to my Easy Ryder/Onyx grow

Good luck!

Oh and be REALLY careful when you repot. I put all of my girls in the final pots when I planted them, or so I thought. I had to repot my problem child today because it turned out her pot was smaller than I thought it was. I cut off the bottom of the pot, and cut the side of the put, allowing her to just slide down into the new pot where I had already put some FFOF soil on the bottom, and then I just filled in the sides. She was pretty dry so 99% of her soil stayed together and didn't fall away from the roots. Glad I transplanted her, her roots completely circled the bottom of the pot when I cut it off, she was definitely ready for something larger.

Thanks a lot for your reply and all the info! I was actually checking out your grow saturday night before you posted. At first I did have the light a lot closer, which I thought might be better but the manufacturer suggested 18"-24" above. We'll see, maybe next time i'll try it closer. Do a little experimenting. Thanks for checking it out, new pics coming!

HigH people. Finally able to take some pics and sit down and relax. Had a pretty good weekend watching some UFC and NFL. Also had to send off my info to renew my MMJ authorization which is exempt in a few weeks. Well saturday night I transplanted them, and I also have them on the timer. 20/4 light schedule now. I was asking a few questions about switching the light schedule for autos. Thanks for all the replies and info everyone! One good piece of info I did read was the joint dr's grow guide for autos. I read that awhile back and forgot about it like a stoner. That has some good info for growing autos. Anyway they seem to be doing fine after the transplant. At least this rookie cant see any signs that they are shocked. Anything special I should be looking for? Pretty sure tomorrow after work I will be giving them their first feeding. They should be pretty thirsty by then. Gonna go with a qrtr strength on all nutes, and see what happens.I took a bunch of new pics tonight and a few I was able to get some close-ups of the pistils. I did that by putting a magnifying glass in front of the lens. Worked out alright in a few pics. Enjoy, thanks for following, and let me know what you think!View attachment 1181904View attachment 1181905View attachment 1181906View attachment 1181907P9270113.jpgView attachment 1181909View attachment 1181910View attachment 1181911P9270135.jpgView attachment 1181913

The only thing I've ever heard as the major type of transplant shock is a bit of stunted growth for a day or two. Unless of course you rip our roots or drop it in transplant, that might have a bit of further complications.

HigH everyone. Well I have been really busy haven't been able to make any updates lately. I will post some pics hopefully later today or tomorrow for sure! Well all three young ladies are just about a month old. The 6th will be one month. I gave them their first feeding four days ago. I fed them at half the recommended strength. Have not noticed anything wrong they look really healthy. Today when I get home from work I will be watering with some molasses. Pretty sure it is 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. They should be really thirsty by the time I get home. Like I said they look really healthy one of the onyx has come from behind and is now the tallest of the three plants at about 9" tall. Who knows that could change by the time I get home from work. There are lots of pistils on all the plants. Well time to get back to work. I will make another post today or tomorrow with some good pics! Thanks for following.

I gave them some water today and molasses for the first time. I was told in an earlier post to water every other watering with molasses. Does that include adding molasses on the day I feed them nutes also? So today I watered with molasses next time will be with plain ph'd water then the next time will be with nutes. They are looking really good to me and smell great. I was wondering if it is alright to move some of those bigger leaves out of the way and let some light to some underneath foliage. Hope so because I did in a couple spots where they were totally covering some pistils. Well wednesday will be a month since they were germinated. Gotta go for now time for dinner enjoy the pics and thanks for checking out my first grow!View attachment 1190298View attachment 1190300View attachment 1190302View attachment 1190303View attachment 1190305View attachment 1190306View attachment 1190307View attachment 1190309View attachment 1190310View attachment 1190312

I was checking out the girls today and noticed on the easyryder that a couple leaves have turned yellow at the very tip of the leaf. These leaves are on the top of the plant coming out of what is the main cola. I tried to take a few pics hopefully someone can make out what I am talking about. I have only seen it on the one plant so far. It's something I will monitor. Thanks for any info anyone has!View attachment 1193202View attachment 1193203View attachment 1193204View attachment 1193206View attachment 1193207

Wouldn't worry much about the yellowing yet, with it just being the very tips at the top of the new growth. Keep an eye on it and see if anything changes.

BTW, most everything I've read said to just water once a week with molasses. Not sure how often you're watering, for me it was every 2 to 3 days depending on how heavily I watered, but I'm in fairly small pots. Do you use the vial and droplet test kits for PH, and if so, how are you checking the Ph of your water when you add molasses btw, since it changes the color of the water and the drops don't override it?

Oh, and please label or organize the pictures if possible so we can tell which one(s) are the Easy Ryders vs. the Onyx. so we can keep track of the progress.

Thanks for the input, and i will monitor the yellow tips closely since I am a worrier. Lol. Just want my medicine to be perfect! As far as the molasses goes I have only used it once so far. I watered yesterday with straight phd water. I am using a digital ph meter also made by Hannah. It's great. Actually when I did use the molasses I checked ph after adding molasses to the water and the ph was at 6.5. So I left it at that. Someone told me to not even bother with those other test kits, that they can be a hassle. So I bought a digital for $55.00.
I have also noticed on one of the onyx plants that the leaf stems are a purplish color. This purpelish color is on the top half of the leaf stem. The bottom halves are green and healthy looking. Anything to worry about? A friend says it's natural. Other than that they look and smell awesome! I think the next time I feed probably Friday I'll feed at full strength. Last time was half strength. Thanks for following and I'll see about organizing the pics. I actually haven't spent too much time on the site personalizing and checking out the site options.

Ah, that explains it with the PH testing. A lot of people use the vial and drops, myself included, and it was never a problem or much trouble until I started using Molasses since it dramatically changes the color of the water, and the test kit doesn't override the coloring. I got some input from others about roughly how much the Molasses was affecting their PH when they added 1 TBSP per gallon though, so I have a pretty good idea what I need to set my PH to before adding the molasses so that I'm in the right neighborhood at least. Won't be perfect, but it's the best I can do unless I want to spend more money on the digital PH tester, and I've spent too much already on this grow.

I can't really comment on the purple color of your Onyx stems since my Onyx was so severely stunted. She barely has any stems long enough to even look at lol, and what growth she does have is all covered with buds. No personal experience with stems turning purple, but from the things I've read, if the upper half of a stem is purple it's a sign of a Sulphur deficiency, whereas the entire stems are usually purple in plants that have purple stems as a natural trait. Here's an article on plant stresses and cures, which mentions that condition and illustrates it, although the picture they provide is really lousy so it's not that easy to see that the upper half of the stem is purple. Again though, wouldn't stress too much, and be careful about overreacting to possible deficiencies and making things worse.

BTW, looks to me from your most recent pictures like you probably have the larger phenotype variety of the Easy Ryders. There are two distinct Phenotypes, a smaller one that tops out at around 10-12" normally and is much more compact in every respect, and the larger one that usually tops out at around 16-20". You can tell not long after they start to flower because the larger Phenotype dramatically stretches upward and outwards, whereas the smaller one has explosive growth but doesn't really stretch upward very much. The larger Pheno also takes about 2 weeks longer to finish. Should try and post some new pics when you get a chance and perhaps measure them, it should be obvious by now which ones you have. Don't forget to name or label the pictures so we know which ones are which.

Good luck!

Right on thanks for checking it out! Well they are doing great and I'll try and post some pics in the morning. I just fed them. One of the onyx is 16" tall the other is 14 and a half. The easyryder is also 14 and a half. The 6th was one month from seed. I can't wait to see what the next couple of weeks bring!

Looking forward to seeing some new pics of your girls. Please label the filenames or label them in your post so we know which plants are which for comparison purposes. You must have the taller phenotype Easy Ryder if it's over 14", the smaller phenos don't usually get that tall, and yours will probably wind up being between 16"-20" by harvest. You can probably expect it to go 10, maybe even 11 weeks from seed to harvest if you do have that pheno, only the smaller phenos finish around 8 weeks. Dying to know the results of your grow with that LED, especially the yield, the size of the buds, and how compact they are.

Amber, my poor stunted little Onyx is still only about 6"-6.5" tall at day 42. She has some really great looking bud on her though, which is amazing considering how tiny she is and how badly she was shocked and damaged from extreme temps. She's got some nice healthy foliage now too, but she totally missed out on the explosive veg phase, so she's ultra tiny and compact. Basically she's just one long bud, with a couple small ones on either side, and I'm amazed at how mature the bud looks for only 6 weeks. It's my first grow and I don't know much about harvesting (though I've got more than 20 years as a consumer under my belt ;)), but it sure looks to me like she's only 1, no more than 2 weeks away.

For comparison purposes with your girls, here are a few pics I took last night of my midget to compare with how the buds on your Onyx are developing (obviously don't compare yield lol). I'm liking the way they're looking and I definitely want to grow a healthy Onyx down the road, but for now it'll have to wait.

And here's some pics that I took last night of my oldest Easy Ryder (Sarah) at day 51. This is the smaller pheno so after 7 weeks she should be pretty close. Looks to my untrained eye like she's going to go longer than that though. You can see some of my afflicted leaves at the bottom of both plants that I've been complaining about in my thread.

HigH everyone. Well today is day 36 for my girls since germination. They are doing awesome in my rookie opinion. They are all showing some good growth since their last feeding a day and a half ago. I gave them a full dose of the nutes and also some molasses. I swear the EasyRyder has grown 2" in the last 12 hrs. She does still have some curling and a little yellowing on the tips of some of the small leaves near the top. I'm not sure what the problem is. I do believe they look a little better since the last feeding. Here are some new pics of the EasyRyder:PA100069.jpgPA100070.jpgPA100075.jpgPA100077.jpgPA100072.jpgPA100074.jpg

Both of the Onyx are doing killa also! I dont really see anything wrong with them. The only difference between the 2 is that one is 19" tall and the other is 15 and a half" tall. These pics are of the 15 and a half inch tall ONYX:View attachment 1203696View attachment 1203692PA100078.jpgPA100082.jpgPA100103.jpgView attachment 1203690View attachment 1203688

This is my first ever grow so I may be missing some things so please feel free to give some good quality advice on what I should or shouldn't be doing. So far i am loving the 270W Enhanced Spectrum Supernova LED light. Last week I had a problem with the power supply unit. Seems the fan was crapping out. So I emailed them(HID-HUT) told them the prob and they sent out a new power supply with the quickness! The old one never crapped out completely. I did go buy a little fan that I had blowing over the power supply until I got the new one in the mail. Now I just have to return the bad one. That is the only problem I have had with this light. seems like the new power supply is an updated version that was manufactured in August. Anyway time to go medicate and watch some NFL. I'm tok'n on some Mango Redway, some Blue Diesel/Headband and some Lambs Breath/?. Thanks for following!

Looks good mang. The only thing I'd say is maybe lighten up on the nitrogen from here on out, but I didn't catch what nutrient you're using. I've been real curious about LED's for flowering, I'll be watching.

I am using a kit called the recipe for success by technaflora. I can't wait to see what the next month brings! Thanks for checking it out.
