I’ll stay in-ground with no cover for the third year in a row and see what happens. Last year I had relatively little rot on the eight big Tirah despite the extra wet fall, and got nearly 100% of the crop in. I credit that to the plants being stretchy airy things and also that I had no problems with caterpillars on them whatsoever.
My much denser Hawaiian Hashbud x Balkh female OTOH was a pain in the ass. I fought rot on her for a month before chopping on October 11, would have liked to let her go a couple more weeks but it wasn’t in the cards.
Will be running some combo of Afghan strains this year, all of which look dense in the pics so wish me luck in my continued defiance of Mother Nature lol
Strain selection is important, and I think you're on to something with the landrace strains ... if the strain has been grown for generations in a similar climate it'll stand a much better chance ... too many of us are trying to grow strains that've been exclusively grown indoors under controlled conditions and have never seen the actual sun, or actual weather
