2nd attempt at 1st grow...problems again :-(

can't ya tell that amber glare? I finally got the hps out of the box.., yes both are hooked up now, eikes..
so now before their bedtime I need to throw up a section of panda film to sep the 2 halfs of the room..have to have that uninterrupted dark for 12 hrs.
I know they are pretty small, but I have seen people budding twigs, imo..I wanted them a foot and a half at least, and bushy..will try that this next batch I have coming, maybe even 2 ft depending on how much the stretch in flowering...getting excited to start seeing flowers form, this is the part I have most looked forward to, yet most feared LOL.
The plants arent looking great to me..but I'm sure they will give a little something, hopefully make it worth it.
That is all I can hope for, take what I have learned, next time will be better, and the one after, even better...and if it gets to the point the power bills etc/amount I harvest doesn't cut even or even get ahead, it may be worth looking into a caregiver who can grow my 15 for me, at least until my health is better and can handle this a bit more...
If that ends up the outcome, I'll try again, after my surgeries and I am healed and doing better..and I will keep trying :-)
In the meantime I will keep reading my books, and googling articles and soaking in everything I can..and trying to raise this next batch up on a more normal schedule, even printed out some records to fill in all the pertinent info on for each feed, I got this program called "grow assistant" you keep your records in and it maps out your exact costs, I like it! I forgot I bought it before I ever had a plant, just started entering plant info into it..keeps track of clones, all the strains, diff feeding schedules you may find you need for diff strains you enter all that data....when I water, keeps measurements/pics of each plant, it breaks down what each res change costs in nutes, pretty awesome.
So just inputing data in that thing from my book of notes may take a few days, lol..as I can't sit very long at one time.
I like orderly, and that will certainly keep me on a good schedule, it pops up reminders, say to start flushing, things like that based on how many flowering days you enter.
It should help me a lot, then I wont have post it notes all over the calendar in there lol.
So out of those 20 seeds I planted last week or so..I have 1 big bud that is looking good, hope it's a she! Theres another but it got nute burnt from the soil too like the rest, they just fizzled out and quit growing, probably toasted the roots..but I have actually 11 germing, and the 5 of them are up since yesterday, the other 6 I just put in rockwool after reading that soaking good seeds in water could mess them up...see..always different info depending on source, lol..oh it also said NOT to use a dome on seedlings, only for clones..I thought ya domed them until 2 sets of leafs, my bad..another pricey lesson learned.
But it did say that old seeds that have hardened and dried out embryos it can help with, and I am pretty certain these aren't the best seeds, even nirvanas seeds LOOK nicer, healthier, mottled brownish striations on them..a LOT of these are small and solid brown, and strangely enough, you know most get a pretty straight taproot, maybe little curves, but these the root almost twists around the seed, sure hope they do ok!
Happy it's almost TGIF!
and happy growing!!

Good Day Doggies

So sorry that I have been unable these past few days to post. I have been really busy with something that I would like to share with you ...

For the past month, a friend of mine (25 years younger than I) had his niece abducted from their home in the middle of the night. At first LEO's were stating that it was a missing child, and for the past two weeks, changed it to, possible foul play. The little girl's name is Ayla, and from Maine. My friend and I are tight, as he always turned to me for guidance when things where going south for him. When I learned of this happening a month ago, I put my hand out, and he grabbed it. I did not want him to be alone on Christmas, so my family invited him over, just so that he could get away from it all, at least for a few hours. We have remained tight throughout, but they have had very little to say, or help out, especially with the media.

Behind the scenes, but with his knowledge, I have been working with NBC and the Today Show. I, as well as many others across this State, Country and even Canada, are doing what we can do bring Ayla home, safe and sound. We have never, nor will we, give up hope that she be safely returned home to her Mom and Dad, even though they are not together any longer (prior to this event). Tonight, at 11:30 PM, despite my usual bedtime of 9:00 pm, I was interviewed by NBC and the Today show, for an update that will air in the morning at 7:30 EST. It was something that I needed to do, for I need to keep Ayla's name in the forefront of all media.

All day long, I reached out to my friend, and he never returned a call nor any of my countless texts. They were in essence, that now was the prime opportunity of placing a cry for help. I take it as they are scared to talk to the media, for they feel that every time they do, it gets twisted around. I repeatedly told him, as well as Ayla's father, that this was not the case, and that if they were uncomfortable to answer a specific question, all they had to say was that they did not want to answer it. Simple enough. They have not been asking for any coverage nationally, but stay local and only with newsprint. (Circulation appx 20,000). Here I am, not even affiliated other than a friend, and I just did an interview that will be reached out to over 8 Million viewers. I know if I was in their shoes, I think I would have grabbed hold and gone with it, despite any fear about myself, but to have my child returned home, safe and sound.

I think I may have lost a friend, whose friendship I cherished and loved. But it is not about a friendship to me. It is about finding a Lost and Missing Child. Period.

I thank you so very much for allowing me the opportunity to share, and also vent my frustration on this matter that has plagued me for over a month. If you wish, you may post here, or PM me. I love all my friends here on Doggie Nuts, for I feel at home, and a part of Community and Friendship with all that enter this great thread.

God Bless ~ And Let's Get Ayla Home

My prayers for Ayla's safe & quick return, and sometimes part of being a great friend is knowing when that friend cannot cope with what they are going through, all you can do is be a hand to reach for should he need it...and he will.
I know from first hand not many know what to do..or to say when there is a tradgedy, when my 21 yr old was killed after his bday party by a drunk driver, well..in all honesty AI shut down, but people also stayed away, for they didn't know if what they had to say would make matters worse, the worst thing a person can do in this situation is nothing.. BE A FRIEND...weather it's taking a call at 4 am or just wiping tears in silence.
I pray they find little Ayla, that NO HARM has come to her, and that her family receive swift closure,
Our children are our greatest resource, they are treasures, and the next generation, we need to treat them all with respect and dignity we have.
God Bless~ AND HANG IN THERE, from one Yankee 2 another :-)

I'm noticing something since switching to the hps bulb, I am getting a LOT more vegetative growth than I did with the MH conversion bulb, am almost convinced it was a bad bulb now.., in fact they are doing so well after "making it rain", getting them off the cold ass floor onto wood platforms (increasing root temp by at LEAST 10-12 degrees!), that I am going to continue to veg them, since I DID want big bushes, after all :-)
My 2 1 week old big buds are flourishing, the one had nute burn out of the gate so has some strange growth, but all the new growth is nice and pretty green.
The seeds just sown so far I have 2 northern lights up over the soil, just cotys still after 3 days, and 4 of them have 1st true leafs coming on...so all over, things are going well :-) man these ice seeds from the "other" company, they're magic I swear, they disappear once planted, its crazy!! guessing more duds, out of 3 planted to 1 pot I could only find 1 of them..(these also didnt crack after many days in wet paper filter..) so seed quality I think may be a big issue.

And as if I don't have enough going on, remember me saying I took some cuttings off the bubbles and 3 off the romulan grapefruit...Now I have never had any luck with cloning, maybe 1/10 tried actually took...I have I think 8 or 9 clones, several put in party cups cause they were rooting already (for me, a week is a miracle, my rom GF took almost 3 weeks to root!) but zI have a heating pad on and 24 hr fluro...b4 I let them have dark and think they were just way too cold to root.
So this got me to thinking, no matter what spots or holes I may see in a leaf or two, the plants must be at least pretty healthy to have clones root nicely so quick?!
Ive been hands off for 2 days since I "made it rain" crazy how after overwatering they dry up in 2 days when normal watering they seem to stay wet for a week! So I gave them a dose of about 950 ppm food (mostly organic) after they'd wicked up most of the water, and they are really looking good! The foliage is a deeper green, but not toxic N dark...they look pretty damn good..will do some pics tomorry if I am feeling better, been bedrest 2 days 4 me..
Happy growing all...Keep Ayla in all your prayers, for those who pray, for those who don't please think hard on her getting returned to her family!!!

HMMM, I see you have begun simplifying. don't you love it when a plan comes together? LOL!

PICS!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!

Oh, and I know you have health issues and whatever it is keeping you on bed rest for days at a time, I hope it heals quickly. And of course, my condolences for the loss of a child. You seem to be an incredibly strong person. You and all the lost children of the world are in my thoughts and prayers.

SHES BACK HOME!!!!!!YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! See what the power of prayer can achieve! Oh thank you God above!
And I do also pray that this ordeal has left her unharmed in ANY way, children have to suffer enough scars just growing up!

oh and it was 10 clones I took, 7 bubblegum and 3 romulan grapefruit, and as of this morning, a week or a bit over later, all have rooted!!!!
That's 10/10!
the heat factor..leaving my heating pad under the dome thing, and also putting them in 1" rockwool..I had tried rapid rooters and different pucks, nothing gave me this kind of success..so is it the lower ph, along with consistent heat and nonstop light..
I even had a friend make me a bubble cloner, all I ever got was slimy crap on the stem ends, and after 15 days!
These I knew were rooted when the 2 cut fan leaves both started yellowing, then and only then did I peek, instead of daily like I used to, lol.
heres to "Just lettin em be"! \ /

ok..I think we have problems again, just checked all the pots PH, and they used to be always at 7 or 6.8 lowest, some read as low as 6.3 and most were 6.4-6.6...why would I have this sudden change in PH?
And what kind of info do you get from testing your runoff, always have been curious, does it show how much the plant is using, because I checked the PH of their water/nutes, PH'd it to 6.8, ppms were around 1000 last feed, and in the runoff it was only like 200-300 ppm, is that a good sign that the nutes are being used..or what?
2 of the bubbles dont look that good, lots a nibble marks it seems but still no bugs to be seen..,.

any clues as to why my PH dropped suddenly? I always suspected my digital PH meter was wrong, it always read 7.0 even when the non dig one read like 6.8, today I let it sit awhile longer than normal and it kept going down....what can I use to raise it and is it at lockout range for soil, be damned if I can find that soil/hydro PH lockout chart I have saved somewhere..
and for shits n giggles, here that romulan grapefruit like 5 weeks ago when I thought it would never grow, have to say it's been slow, but it's getting there!

depends on what your suding for medium, i wouldnt worry about PH lockout right now.

if your using a soiless pro mix then the PH will go down, watering is supposed to raise it as it has lime already in it to raise the PH back to normal when you water.

6.6 is fine for PH but you cant get a accurate measurment from runoof water as there are too many variables and the soil has not had the time to buffer the waters PH enough to get a accurate measurement.

your plants all look the right color green, i wouldnt do anything but watch them grow!!!

alright, until I hear back from someone I am going to TRY and dig out at least 1 of my cars, this snow is crazy and a friend said 10-12 more inches tonight, I have to have a car out from under the 2 feet already here...this should b fun since we had frozen rain last night, I am going to need to make a trip out, Ive got cabin fever bad after 5 days of this!! Wish me luck...don't even own a snow shovel, but will try to drive my truck back n forth to compact it so my lil front wheel drive can get out, handles great on snow/ice, just can't get over 2 feet of snow in it, has a low bottom!

they are still in 50/50 wizard soil w/ perlite, it has amendments, can't recall all of them off hand, I posted it somewhere...so dont worry it's not too low? I thought soil should be 6.8-7

so I shouldnt try raising it...good to know! Dont feel like messing with them...now I DID do that "make it rain" thing, where I almost flushed them a couple-few days ago, could that have lowered the PH?
And the nutes seem to be very PH lowering, both GH and foxfarms, and the free ones I just got..cutting edge, which I used a slight amount of Ca and Mg from
