Ok I just killed 3 plants.
It was kinda traumatic sense this is my first grow.
Out of seven I ended up with 4 females.
I was glad to have that many females. It was just hard to except the fact that the males were indeed males.
Oh well. (sigh)
I also started germinating some "dank" seeds last night.
Now all I got to do is decide which female I want to keep for clones.
I will be posting pics in about a week or so.
I think I will go ahead and buy a webcam to take some pics.
I have been leary of posting any incriminating pics.

I am off to buy more soil and bigger pots for the 4 that I have left.

happy growing.......

Also, anyone know of a commercial bloom nute that is fairly cheap?

I have not added any nutes to these yet since the soil I started with is supposed to good for 9 mo's.

I want to start adding nutes at really low doses since the bottom leaves of the plants have turned yellow. I think the plant is redirecting its energy toward the top where the lights are.

whats ur definition of "cheap"? could use molasses or some all purpose stuff 15-30-15 for like $4..just make sure its not a time-release or slow release fert or youll be sorry.

Yep. I got a bag of perlite and a bag of miracle grow potting soil.
The soil has real low npk and of course the perlite has almost none.
I did buy some Miracle Gro Bloom plant food. (lower in N higher in P)
I also bought some 4.7L pots.

I went ahead and mixed the potting soil (40%) with the perlite (60%).
I transplanted those suckers no probs at all.
They were obviously ready for bigger pots. Rootbound..

I watered with 1/4 strength miracgle gro and water.
Oh Yeah spittin, I am using molases once a week at 1sp per gal.

I have picked the tallest of the 4 to pull out as my mother plant for clones.
I am not sure how I want to set up her lighting though.
I just put her in the window for now.

I have the other 3 back in the closet.
I went ahead and rearranged my grow space.
I had them all (7) on a shelf with wires hanging from the curtain hanger rod support.
Well I took the shelf out and put in a tuperware tub.
I placed the shelf on the tub and then re hung the lights.
This gave me about 3 1/2 ' more for vertical.

Now I have 3 42w cfl's with reflectors.
I also have 3 15w 21" fluro grow lights.
I have these lights going to a digi timer on 12/12 right now.

Any suggestions on how I should set up the 2nd closet?
My second closet is about a 1/4 of the size closet that I am currently growing in.
I feel like i could put another rubber tub in the smaller closet. That is probably the same girth as this little closet.
So my horizontal space will be that size.
I also have a shelf in this one already it is up about 7 ft so I do not like using it.
I quess not this week but next I will buy more lights for this second closet.
I want it to be the veg room for now since it will only be for the 1 mother and her clones and the new " dank" seedlings that are currently germintating.

I guess I will be starting these seedlings in the window like I did the 1st crop.
I just want to have the lights ready for them before they get more than 2" tall.

Got to pay bills this week.
Next week I hope to have pics and more lights with dank seedlings to show.

Happy growing!

Ok apparently it has been 14 ds since I switched to 12/12 on my 4 female plants.
They are looking good.
They seem to be liking the miracle gro bloom fert.
I am giving them a quarter spoon of fert per gallon of h2o every 2-3 ds. I water some in between.
I think I need to start some sort of feeding, watering, and co2 log.
In the in between waters I alternate molases.
I definitely need more lights.
I still only have the 3 42w cfl's and the 3 21" fluros.
Hopefully, I can go get more lights wed.

The seeds I germinated are about 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" tall now.
I have 4 of them that sprouted.
I still have 2 more in the germination plates.
One was sprouted the last time I looked.

I need to get some more soil and perlite when I go to get my lights.
I believe I will have to split those purchases between 2 stores for paranoia purposes.

If I can, I will get a digital camera this week.
If not this week then next week.

I will post back with further news in a few days.
happy growing..

The plants are loving the miracle gro bloom nutes along with the molasses.
I am having to move the plants around now to get them equal light.
With this little amount of light I have it is necessary.

I just measured them today.
They range from 22" to 26" tall and from 10-14" wide.
I believe that I am going to try to rearrange my lights so that the 21" fluros are on the sides instead of the top.
The buds on top of the plants are really taking off.
The ones on the sides on the main stem are slower going.
I noticed that when I started moving them around after a few days the side buds were all looking more like the tops.
I hope to enhance that with the side lighting.

I get my check tomorrow so I shall go get more lights and more soil.
If I can remember I will buy a cheap cam for pics.

Ok I went and bought some more lights.
I now have 6 42w cfl's on 4 plants.
I rearraged my lights so that they are more spread out now.
I have the lights pretty close to the tops of the plants.
I would say 2"..
Sory guys still no pics.
I had to spend the money elswhere.

The top buds are starting to get more plump
I would say they are about as bug around as a quarter and they are fairly dense.
I was not expecting to have buds like this for another week.
The side buds are still pretty small I would say they range from the size of an eraser on a pencil up to the diameter of dime.
I have moved my 21" fluros so that they are shinning from the sides.
I just fed them last night so it will be at least 3 ds before I do it again.
The next time I feed them I will go up on the nutes from 1/4 strenth to 1/2 strentgh.
I have been adding molasses now for about a week and a half. I add it usually once a week.
I have been using a little more than suggested by videoman.
They seem to luv the stuff.

Oh yeah I almost forgot.
One of my plants was accosted by a light this morning.
I woke up and my lights had been on prob an hour when I got up.
I went in to check on them as I often do as soon as I wake up.
The damn lights had fell and one was laying almost on top of one of my girls.
I pulled it back and pulled her out.
She has one top fan leaf burnt off and the second node from the tops bud was singed.
She looks like she will be ok just a little slow catching up with her sisters after that traumatic incident.
Next I secured my lights twice.
I have them hanging from the curtain rod and I taped them to it.
I then use the rod to roll the lights up when I need to move them.
The rod will unwind after awhile with the weight of the lights pulling.
I take duct tape and rap around the rod and then tape it to the shelf above.
Apparently I need to use new tape each time I roll the rod.
I guess the sticky wore out.
So now I am using more tape covering more surface area on the shelf and I can not pull the rod back easily so I believe it will be ok/
I also moved the lights to where if the do fall they will not damage the plants as much. They will kinda fall between them.
I know redneck engineering here.
I know I am not the only one out here doing this kind of stuff.
It is amazing what one can do with not too much money.
I would say even though my setup is ghetto it still cost me a good 160.00 to get to where I am now.

Believe me If I had the money I would have the best there is to get.

This is really more of a learning expeirence for me right now.
I mean I would love to get a chunk of bud.
I just will be happy with any for the 1st grow.
If I had to chop them right now I would say I think I have about a eigth of an oz on each plant.
I would like to see somewhere between a half to an o per plant but here's hopin and tokin

Happy growing

Woke up to another plant being burned
My lights fell again.
I am trying to come up with a fail safe to keep them at a constant level.
The light burned the top off of one plant down to the second node from the top.
I guess I wll be trying my bud earlier than I thought.
I do not expect much since I have not seen crystals yet.
I figure this will stunt the growth.
I hope it does not kill the 1 plant it still has other buds.

Then on one of the other females the top snapped in two.
I taped it back together with cello tape.
Not real sure how these travisties are going to affect my plants.

It seems like I am subconciuosly trying to murder my girls.

This deffinately makes me want to grow outside.
Next season I will have some outside even If I have to get a gps and start hiking.

This will not keep me from growing inside.
I think things like this are well earned serious lessons.
These lessons do not come from a book.

Hopefully in a few years I will have these process' down to a science like some of these pot guru's on this site.

In the sense that you learn from your mistakes. I been doing some serious learning.

Oh well what can you do but try harder next time.
I still got 3 1/2 females left and 2 seedlings.

I long for the day that I start clonning.
This growing from seed is rough.

My plan is to finish this grow and take a clone from the next female that grows from seed.
I am hoping one of these seedlings I have going is female..

I hope they make it thru my abuse.

Seems like I am getting real familiar with what not to do on a grow.

I didn't read all that you wrote, a lot of stuff, but I am about the same stage as you right now. I have two females, and they love the MG bloom nutes (only about $5) with the Molasses.

I have been giving them these for a few weeks now and they are growing like crazy. No need to get fancy nutes for soil plants.

I agree firsttime.
I am peacemealing my grow op together.

I ended up pulling one of my 4 females.
The top got burned.
I have put it in a window that is facing south.
I went ahead and chopped it on main stem right below burned part.

I have decided to keep it for clones.
Ironically it has several branches that are big enough to cut for clones already.

I also decided to go hydro with the clones.
I am currently researching DWC.
I may end up going with some sort of drip system instead.

Not sure yet.
I will let you all know. for sure....

happy growing..

A nice cheap solution I use is zip ties. Just make a chain of them. When your light needs to be lifted pull the ties tighter. But this is not for all considering you might need to put 2 hooks in your roof....Or you could hang the hooks from that shelf over your grow??maybe I dunno. Goodluck man!

 :-P Congrats on the 4 fem's! too bad about the one that got hurt and U had to pull. But The fact that they are all between 22"-26" really amazes me! Especially under Fluoro's! Keep up the great work. Any chance that you'll be able to get some pics up?

Keep up the great work and good growin to ya!

Nice Idea.
I must get too stoned sometimes.
I have several bags of those big black zip ties..
So it is like an adjustable zip tie link chain..

I will try that here shortly.

Thanks for the idea.
Us stoners always need help with some of the simplest things.

I have decided to try dwc. (deep water culture)

Per edsthread I am going to use the homemade hydro bucket Idea.

I have found my supplies already.
It will be Wed afternoon before I can get them though.
I like to plan when I can.

At petsmart they have
pumps for 9.99
air hose 4.99
Long air stone .99 and up.

I figure I will buy my buckets at homedepot or lowes or wherever they are at.
I do not expect them to be more than 3-5 dollars apice. (prob less)

The baskets are main concern now.
I have a hydro store kinda near me.

I was hoping to find something that I could use insted of the commercial hydro pots. (paranoia)
I like to only buy things that have multiple purposes..

I might be able to get a cam this week.

I will be back in a few days with more info.
stay tuned
Happy growing..

So I cut up some existing pots that I had.

I decided to use the 6" pots that I started my 1st grow in.
I took a utility knife and cut 1/4" x 4" slots in the side about 1 1/2" " apart.
I cut triangle shapes in the bottom.
Turned out pretty good.
Hey recycle when possible I say.

I have a grey rubbermaid tub that would fit 6 of these buckets in the lid.
I think I will just go with 3 to give the plants plenty of room.

So now I just got to do some more cutting rubber.

I am going to get rockwool, rocks, roothormone, air pump, air stones, and air hose wed afternoon.

I will take the clones thursday morning.

From there I will just have to wait on clones to root and get my hydro grow ferts.
I looked up my local hydro shop on the internet and they sell fox farm.
It is like 75.00 for the tripple pack.
I think I will see if he has anything cheaper.
I did not really want to spend more than 30.00 on ferts for this dwc grow.

I will keep looking.
I am sure there is something in my price range out there that will work.

And BTW...I got my foxfarm nutes for about 50 bucks altogether. It would have costed me around 35 bucks but I got the bat guano and earthworm castings stuff 2. For flowering you can get the tiger bloom which is only 13 bucks at the hydro store nearby. You sure he isn't trying to sell you the gallon jugs of it and not the quarts?

Not sure smoke. I just looked at the website.
I went to foxfarm and found local dealer who happens to be my local hydro shop.
I will have to go down there and see whats what.

Those prices that were on that link you pm'd were about what I was expecting to pay.
Thanks for info

Nothing has changed except for the fact that I am seeing how close I can get the lights without burning them.

I have been moving the about a half an inch to an inch a day I decided to them a little closer..
They are probally right at 2" away now (CFL'S)
The zip ties worked great. (thanks recvry)
It is much easier to adjust alittle or a lot.

Now I like to move them 2-3 times during the lights on cycle to keep the lights as close to the tops as possible...

I figure atleast another 5 weeks in flower. They have only been budding for about 3 weeks..

My mother seems to be starting new growth.
Hopefully I pulled her out of flowering soon enough for it not to be too hard to get her to switch back to veg for clones.

I am trying to decide where I can put my clones and where to put the tub for the dwc.
I think I am going with 4 planters in the tub so that they have plenty of room.

Happy growing
