60 X 26 Ft outdoor roof grow

Greetings again everyone!

I am an experienced beginner grower going from hydro to soil. I sprouted April 25th and planted the seeds on May 1st and planted a few well rooted clones as well.

My strains:

- Super Lemon Haze (Seed)

- Grape Ape (Clone)

- Lavender (Clone)

- Alaskan T.F. (Clone)

- Arjan's haze #3 (Seed)

- Cheese (Seed)

- And a few other no names that came from home garden experiments. I believe they have very indica traits.

My set-up:

- Soil is a mix of coco coir, per-lite, worm castings, hydrated lime, and sub-culture beneficial micro-organisms.

- I am outdoors on a well hidden roof. The grow space is over 60 feet by 26 feet. It also has 7 foot tall walls that keep prying eyes and harsh winds from reining. I have no problems with security considering there are no lights, helicopter schedules or visitors besides me and my partner.

- I also have some ash colored nursery shading to keep the extreme summer heat from killing the babies. It is on heavy duty wire that is zip tied to it for easier access to plants by moving it like a curtain.

- I have the babies in 5 gallon buckets. They have clear plastic drain controllers they sit on and they are raised from touching the roof's surface with plastic milk crates.

- I have electricity and water on this roof as well and it is all safe proof. Electricity is off the floor and the roof floors have amazing drainage for rain and the hose.

- I also have a few PVC structures that are soon to become greenhouses for the winter time. But for now, they have shading material for more babies.

- I currently plan on feeding flora nova grow and bloom when needed, but I was told the soil i made should be enough for a few weeks.

- I foliage feed carbonated water mixed with SUPERthrive, a mild flora nova grow serving, and I soon will mix in natures nectar "ADD."

- I spray once a day for at least an hour off and on while I expose the babies to direct sunlight.

- I try to keep them in direct sunlight as much as possible, but avoid it when the roof temperatures reach above 84 degrees.

- I will begin to use the "Flora Klean" flushing solution in the beginning of June...don't want to take any chances.

- I The walls are old and chipping, which is encouraging me to use panda film for the plants close to the walls. I'll be adding it in about a week.

- Other than all of this, I also rotate the plants a quarter turn a day when I give the direct sunlight exposure.

My questions::::

-I will be adding some more babies up here soon and I couldn't help but notice a few concerns.

I believe there is a wasps nest in one of the walls and I keep seeing these fast little brown spiders roaming around...is this bad??? I plan on using "Serenade" soon and killing off all the wasps...but those spiders?? I will add lady bugs or praying mantises soon, but those spiders are killing me! Are they a threat!?!?!

Will hose water completely mess up my grow?? I completely used distilled water on everything up until 2 weeks after they've been hardened and living outside.

I am also taking care of a pigeon problem we had. I made sure to disinfect, scrub and lightly bleach the entire walls and floors...is this sufficient to keep clean outdoor conditions?

looks good just make sure to keep everything labeled and organized. you have a lot of strains going on there and some possible males to ruin it

I luckily got feminized seeds and female clones, so no worries on the sex. I do label all of them individually by the way

Here is an update from Today!

They are all more defined with their genetic phenotypes! Yay Plants!!

I also added a few babies to the group, seedlings and clones to be exact. The baby rack has Mendo Purps crossed Grape Ape (Thought it would be interesting to see these similar genetics have a baby...Thanks to my friend with seeds!). I also have Alaskan Ice from greenhouse seed co., purple power from Nirvana seeds, and biddy early from a sacramento club's local breeder.

I also picked up 5 romulan clones and 5 trainwreck clones from a patient...unfortunatly, even though they where all well rooted, they had been through so much stress and shock in their previous environment that only one romulan is hardly making it...the rest wilted.

On the brighter side, I took a few lower branches off from the bigger moms to experiment on cloning them in small numbers...basically, as the lower branches produce 1 or 2 healthy cuttings, I remove them to keep pests from living on them, and I try and root them...and it's worked so far!

I used rapid rooter plugs as a medium for the cuttings, and Olivia's cloning gel to get the horomones going and seal off the wound. I placed them in a dome with a bed of perlite and a 2-foot daylight flourecent. Misting them almost every hour (all day and night it seems), I keep the dome at a nice 79 degrees (Lowest it gets is 72, but usually around 75) with 90% humidity for them to root...plus I add a very diluted superthrive (Non-Fertilizer) solution to the mist. Sometimes I replace the distilled spray water with pierre mineral water for the extra kick of Co2 in their foliage.

Here are my questions to you master growers!:

1) I have all of my sativa dominant plants on a pH between 5.4 and 5.9...is this good?

2) As for my Indica dominant strains, I keep them between 5.2 and 5.7...is this ok as well?

3) I have been up here everyday for a while, and I am still noticing what looks like pests! To be specific, here's a list:

-Wasps and sometimes bees.

-Sometimes a few ants.

-Lot's of creepy spiders...I can't seem to tell which are the bad ones for the plant's environments. As I said before I never had to deal with outdoor pests.

-A few flying bugs that seem to stop by every other week (They look like pirate Bugs! So it might not be bad!) My question is, with wasps, ants and other possible other pests...what beneficial insects should I use? I'm tied between praying mantis and lady bugs...

That's about it for now, there are a couple of dried areas on the clones but I have a feeling it's from the heat...not to bad though, they seem to be thriving more than anything I've ever grown!

PS) The Frankenstein clone was a no name grab bag seed my friend grew out and gave me a dead clone to play with.

It took almost a month to get it rooted, but as you can see, fresh new beautiful foliage is exploding on top of those terrible almost dead older leaves. I am proud of that, so I thought I'd mention it

I'm a noob at mj but a long time gardener. personally, I think wasps and yellow jackets are good for the garden. They are predatory carnivores. I watched a yellow jacket attack and eat a catapillar in my garden today...Go yellow jacket! Most spiders are good too...just not spider mites obviously.

As for the ladybugs. Release them in the garden right after you've sprayed the plants well. I read somewhere that those ladybugs are very thirsty when they are released...so wet plants give you a better chance of them sticking around. Makes sense??!!

i dont think spiders are a threat, unless they are "spider mites". then you'll have to get rid of them. the plants are looking good. i just cant believe you're growing it all on your roof. lol

I used water from the hose on m y first two outdoor grows and never had a problem, as for the strain i would go for the lemon haze.

Thanks for the info! I really was trying to get info on some beneficial insects. Wasps seem to be working fine with me, I stay out of their way and they try to avoid me...my negative thoughts don't come into mind until I see more of them around and eventually try and sting me. I would be angry, but not dead

I made sure to put the hydrated lime just in case the water was very harsh.

I am really excited about the super lemon haze! My only complaint is how I can completely tell that it was not stabilized genetics...the plant seems a bit wimpy compared to the other seeds I've grown. But none the less, I can always keep selfing and see better results I suppose

im excited to watch this gro... u vegging them indoors and then putting them outside? and on the poll option at the top u should have an option that says "all the above" lol. i would gro all those, u dont know how lucky u are to have elite strains. in FL i have to order seeds, 3 times they have not come. 2 of the times from bcbuddepot.com the other from reservoir seeds.
