That grandaddy purp looks delicious, grow overall looks like its coming along great, Im very interested to see these led grows, the only negative thing Ive heard is that there not great for flowering as far as yield or weight put on, what your opinion. Have any of you seen any grows with the cool plasma, supposed to have 4 times the amount of useable lumens compared to HID or led lights, they sound great but Id like to see them in action. Ive been subscribed for months now, things continue to look great, keep up the good work. Peace!
Hey dude, I think the LEDs - the higher wattage ones - are able to match some finished product weight that HPS can do. However the LEDs have to be right up against the plant essentially and don't expect buds a bit of a distance away from the light to really yield that much. Thats my opinion, or observation, so far. Thanks for the comment, glad your enjoying! bongsmilie

Still looking good King! Not that humid...here in SD it has been 60%ish last few days but we got some low pressure rollin in. I think after seeing how your grow has been progressing I should have went with the LED's vs MH/HPS would have saved me $375 I just paid for my AC and the $100+ for the cooltube! lol. Next grow probably try it out! Keep this sick pics comin!
Cool man! just make sure with those LEDs that you can keep it close to your plant and you'll get good buds. Note my main Morning Daze bud is looking great - because it's like 2-3 inches away from the light. The closer the better as far as LEDs are concerned.

Hey king great pics, but it looks like you need to back off on the nutes a bit, your getting some major burn on your leaves bro. THey look yummy though.
Dually noted. I changed my recipe mix this last res change so we'll see how they do....the nute burn could also be from a few weeks ago - I've been experimenting with different mixes.

Plants look nice and frosty! Thanks for being the guinea pig and showing us all what the new LEDs can do. I'm in agreement that once the LEDs can produce the correct spectrum and intensity, combined with the heat and energy savings, we'll all be growing with LED. Looking forward to seeing how everything ends up!
Thanks for thanking me for it dude! It's much appreciated. and thanks for the compliment on my girls - they love all the compliments people can give them :)

those buds are super iced out, thats gonna be some tasty smoke:)
As always, thanks man! I'm certainly looking forward to tokin on it bongsmilie

Hey all,
here are some pics from earlier today. I propped a lot of branches up and did a lot of maintenance work to the garden. I got Botanicare's Sweet to add to my recipe - which will help the buds get fatter and denser - though it is pretty late in the grow to be adding it....at least I'll have it for the next cycle.
That Grand Daddy Purple is the stickiest and smelliest plant I've grown - it's beautiful! However one of the GDP's is not doing well at all - it hasn't for some time now so we've kinda just given up on it. Its the last pic under the GDP section...
Morning Daze's buds are looking great as well - none of her hairs have turned so she's still got a good amount of time to grow, and she's got the most and fattest buds of them all...and she's got a lotta good trichs on her.
Chocolope is looking dandy - very fruity danky smell. If I can work with her height I'd love to have a garden of just Chocolope and GDP...at least for a few cycles.
Bubblegum is really hairy, and none of the hairs have really turned colors. The buds aren't that big and not super drenched in trichs like Chocolope or GDP. And it smells really nutey, so it can't take the same amount of nutes that the others can.
Purple Hawaiian looks good although her buds are fluffier that I'd prefer - they're not as dense as the GDP, which I guess is fine...the Sweet I added today should/could help with that.

Five days ago I topped the Monster Bud plant I've got vegging and it has responded well - the clone I took from the topping is looking healthy and the mother I topped is working on filling out its lower growth and getting wider. That one I planted from seed so I'm not 100% sure it's female, though I have always had pretty good luck with the girls;)

No Res change today, just added tap water and the Sweet nutrient, as well as a bit of pH down to rest it easy at 5.8
EC meter is at 2.4 in flowering, 2.0 in vegging

Thats good enough for an update - here are the pics:

Those are looking very good and those LEDs are performing better than any that I've ever seen before, well done! I think your nute burn looks perfect, that means you're giving your plants everything they can use, plus a little more. That's the way I like to do it anyways.

Thanks Homebrewer, I'm definitely satisfied with the lights - I'm going to use the 600watt HPS next cycle as well. But at least I know that if the LED light is close enough it will produce a substantial amount - BUT it must be really close to the buds, distance will only make fluffy buds.

Damn King! Seriously, this journal's the best LED ad I've ever seen. I'm getting kinda curious about these... Where'd you say you got yours again?

Best LED grow I have seen so far, plants look great, what wavelengths are your led lights?
Because you can sometimes get the sellers of led lights to change the wavelengths for specific plants to increase all round growth.
Good job man!

Thanks dude, much appreciated. I'm pretty happy with how they've performed.
Sorry, I don't know the wavelengths specifically. I just know that they're red and blue spectrum only.

Looking Awesome King! Keep up the good work. Definately going with LED's next round...think I'm still going to keep my 400w but get a bigger tent 4x4 next time and add few 90w LED's. Got my electric bill from last month usually $60...$200 cuz of the AC/lights/fans basically runnin 24/7! LOL. Got my shit all dialed in now so should have journal up soon...hopefully.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Buddha! I hope you get a journal going, I'd be interested in seeing your setup. Thats cools your thinking about getting some LEDs for your next grow, I'm gonna keep the LEDs in the room and add my 600watt HPS light, so the combination of all three lights should blow my current grow outta the water

Res change yesterday.
I'm planning on picking the GDP this week sometime (depending on how much more trichs get filled with resin from now until then) and possibly Purple Hawaiian but she looks like she might be best in another week, so I switched over to a combination of a ripening mixture and a regular strength bloom mixture.
3/5 of the girls aren't as pungent as they should be - they smell more like nute than herb - so a decrease/change in nutrient solution should be good for them.
I'll get some pics up maybe Sunday. and of course also right before I pick whichever ones I do I'll take pics of them.
Bubblegum still has a ton of white pistils and their trichs aren't really showing signs of being done.
Chocolope's hairs have almost all turned color, though her flowering period is supposed to be done either this week or within two weeks from now...if it fills out a lot in the last few weeks then I'm not trying to pick it just yet...I'll watch the trichs closely...
Morning Daze is loving it - not really much sign of maturity yet, just great looking crystally buds! most hairs are still white.

Alright, thats all I've got

Okay so after seeing your grow along with others I also am planning on mixing HID with LED, basicly scaling back some amount of hid lighting and adding a good amount of led's, I just really want the hps going along with the led's during flowering. I usually run about 8wks veg, little longer than some, I use 1400w MH then 2000w HPS for flower, just for a baseline what would you recommend if I wanted to totally replace all that wattage with led's, how many watts would you suggest? Ive also started hearing about these cool plasma I believe there called that are kinda the best of both worlds kinda thing, or atleast thats how it was explained to me. I have a little time for a new set up cause I just had to abandon my indoor after I lost a vicious battle with spider mites, I was 5wks into flower before I finally threw in the towel, basicly a total loss, so Im in the midst of a complete cleaning and remodel, after this years outdoor harvest I will have the funds to get all the fire power I will need, so Im asking anyone with actual led experience their personal opinions on what kinda wattage is needed to equal or exceed the performance of hid lighting, I also would like a lower power bill as this has become an issue at different points for varying reasons. My only concern really with led's is during flowering, thats really the only thing Ive heard is people saying that led's wont get the same yield, even with wattage that is equal in useable lumens. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated, it was just a few months ago I was saying I would never consider led's, now its quite possible they will be my central feature lights, unless I end up going with the cool plasma but thats a whole nother issue. Take care my man, great job on the grow, its been a pleasure following your progress, thanks and peace...

I too have an LED grow going, I'm using a single 350w fixture, It's a six band with a combination of 1 & 3w diodes. I'm at the same place in my grow as the King is in his grow which I'm been watching on and off. Very Nice Results I might add. Here's my thoughts on the LED to HID comparison. I don't believe that a 350 fixture is the equal of a 1000w HPS. I think it will take closer to 7 to 8 hundred watts of LED to get close. That being said, the highest temp I had all summer in the room was 84 degrees with no cooling assist. And even with florescent side panels I'm using less than 1/2 the watts of an 1000w HPS. If I get a return of 75 to 80% of the HPS yield then I'll consider it a winning setup. For the next grow I'd like to add a 2nd fixture but I'll have to convince the wife the need for another $800 light.

Yeah thats about the ratio I was thinking, about 1400w led to relatively compare to 2000w hps, I know they advertise for less but thats advertising for ya. I like the idea of a mixed set-up, cover more of the spectrum while keeping the amount of useable lumens, wish these darn led's werent so damn expensive, Im gonna have to wait till outdoor harvest is done before I can make the investment. Any thoughts on the cool plasma lights? They certainly sound pretty high tech, just what I need is another thing I dont understand, Im not the most tech savvy guy if that wasnt already obvious, thats why I love outdoor growing so much, all I have to worry about is the plants. Thanks wattsaver for the info and anyone else who has any helpful guidance for what will be my new setup here soon. Just so you know what your working with, I was out taking pictures of the outdoor garden the other day with my sisters camera and I couldnt even figure out how to control the darn glare with the digital camera, eventually getting the pictures loaded up here oughta be fun, but you guys gotta check out the one thing I can do reasonably well. Peace every1!
