So how do we go about buying quantum boards? Who manufacturers them? Is it a type of light system made by different manufacturers or is it just something that one company makes?

I was looking at the Veg unit NASA is growing lettuce in space with, I would hope they are using a really efficient system and their lights kind of look like a quantum board I think (not totally sure).
Check with @Stephenj37826 and @robincnn they're doing a joint venture with these from what I understand. I will be trying out one of the retro fit kits after the holidays when I get settled at my new place. They look promising. I want to see what this kit does vs my 1K HPS............

Bro you are just wrong on this and we will not see eye to eye ever on this.
I even tried digging up the original installation info on the Gen1 Green Power Modules with regard to spacing and distance to shelf height and it seems the internet has been scrubbed of that document.
I am glad you are happy with them but what I am still saying is that if that module lacks the balls to grow a lettuce seedling without becoming a long neck goose the way I used it (which a T5 will) then it has no place in my grow room
Readers can take this to mean what they want but it is what it is :peace:

how long should I leave the lights on when your seeds first sprout? I have my seeds germinating under a 8 bulb, 4 foot t5 fixture. Its about 12 inches above the top of the germination tray
If you have a dedicated lamp for seed starts you can roll 24/7 otherwise just use your veg 18/6 photoperiod

If those boards are good that's really cool. I like those a lot.

What I'm trying to tell you is you're reading the installation manual but you only used one bar. If you contact Phillips and get one of their advisers to help you design a system they'll tell you that one bar just not meant to be used by itself and they will help you design a system using multiple bars which gives you overlap and They even calculate your P PFD and give you charts of how much coverage and intensity you're going to get and they make sure to give you a system that matches the intensity you need for the plants are trying to grow. So when I'm trying to say is just following what's in the instruction manual isn't enough because Philips stresses everywhere that you need a consult with their specialists to make sure ou design your system correctly.

If you were really hard set on using one bar the Phillip specialist would have calculated PP FD at all different heights and spaces so you could see exactly how far you would need it from your plants to get the intensity you require for your crop. The fact that you didn't do any of that stuff and you're not even willing to except or understand what I'm trying to tell you to me is just like throwing away useful information so I don't really respect to much your argument on this.

And also because you can't figure out how to use it you trash on other people that have success with them it seems pretty pathetic

is it me or is this crazy cheap for this? I don't know that i could build this myself for that price.

Can you build the same light as his for that price, as in the housing and everything I don't know. Remember he has spent money as a business for certifying lights to standards and what not, so my answer to that question worded like that is no.

Now, can you build a DIY 6 COB light for less using pin heat sinks and cree COB's or other. To this I say yes. Especially if you don't have to have Cree and are willing to look at other brands such as the Citizen or Vero's.

Just my $0.02 :peace:

Everybody keep calm, this is not an argument but rather a discussion and I have not trashed on anyone or their success
All I have stated is that to me a Gen1 Green Power Module is not a 1:1 Replacement for a HO T5

I hope you continue to post your veggie growing here so we all can see how your gear is delivering for you. That is how the rest of us say - damn so and so is killing it with those and maybe I do need to take a look at those for the first time or again.

Would love to see some nice close ups of plants grown under Red/blue with the lights off also so we can really see the color :peace:

Hey are we all supposed to be running a particular light period; or is my 12:1 going to disqualify me from winning the Cadillac?
I don't think there are rules, just that we are trying to use cobs. Also, if no one told you yet.

1st place - Cadillac
2nd place - Set of Steak Knives
3rd place - You're Fired

Instead of sending gift baskets to me, just make a donation to your favorite charity in my name "MuleFace". I have graduated from "Member" to "Active Member" There was a lovey cap and gown ceremony, followed by appetizers and drinks. Many attended

R and B work without white or green. I know there are different "shades" of red and blue, I'm not sure which nm mine are but they work good. They don't have white or green.
