Thanks! No outside photos yet because 1- It rained all day here yesterday and 2- I pulled a muscle in my neck of all places raising the light and didnt want to chance doing any more to it lifting and twisting to get them in and out of the OP safely. It feels a lot better today and so far its clear so I will try and go for it later on.
looking very good alto ladies looking really sexy...keep up the good work bro peace
:weed:
Thanks! While inspecting them yesterday I found what I believe were some "balls" on Emily. That completely sucks as she is probably the nicest of them all. Not sure what I intend to do at this point, but certainly do not want to ruin the lot for her sake. I pulled off the offending sex parts and closely inspected the rest of her and the others to be sure no one else was turning and to be sure I didn't miss any on Emily. Thanks for the support.

Yeah the hash didn't turn out to good but it was lets say a learning experience and I will do better next outing. I actually can't wait till next grow at this point. The Grenadine plant I have going in this grow is what I will be planting and she is looking cherry. Staying nice and compact without any LST and the buds are becoming prolific.

Thanks you guys for your continued support. I promise a complete report and images later today which is day 50! Giving me about a month to go! yay!
I missed yesterdays report (the first one I missed) due to neck strain and the Stanley Cup Finals (heh) this should not happen again and I apologize for the delay in the outdoor photos.

Hehe already looked online at the stock of my hydro shop for reverse lol
They have it and will call later to see if any is in stock. If not, I will order online and have 3 day shipped. The "balls" were lower on the stalk and not near any bud site, just off the main stalk near a node that had only a leaf.
I am so very inexperienced with this it may not have been male flowers at all?
I now wish I had taken a picture, but I am sure there will be more and next opportunity I will get some photos before I castrate her again lmao
Thanks for the support GP and love your new Display Image :weed:

Ah thats good well i hop they have some in stock! Im worried now because fem seeds are supposedly prone to going Hermie.. Not sure if i can afford to get some of this reverse stuff. Hopefully they werent balls at all! Probably a good idea to get reverse anyway though! Good luck! :)

being she has only one main stalk and lots of branches and she is right up front in the jungle it will be very easy to inspect her every day.
I know it will take at least a few days for the balls to turn into pollen producing troubles so I may try and ride it out using that Reverse stuff.
Otherwise I may just have to chop her for the good of the grow.
She has so many nice bud sites tho I feel it would be such a waste!
Hopefully I can manage until she at least starts to show signs of glands on the trics and be somewhat smokable before I have to sacrifice her for the good of the many. She was stressed heavily during her earlier life (remember how burned she was with the overdoing of that foliar spray?)
and so that may have been the cause.
Later today when they come out for photos and reservoir change I will carefully (very carefully) inspect them all in daylight to be sure she is alone in her sexual preferences.
Other than that mess, its all going pretty well for a first time out.
I learned so much doing this, next grow should be better.:weed:

Ah well man good luck! I hope it doesnt come to that (removing her completely) That'd be a right shame. I dont know what i'd do. I think im going to have to get some of that reverse spray as it should come in handy anyway for future grows as well. Ill keep my fingers crossed for the inspection later and her future! Well yeah for a first grow its going incredibly well mate!

Took me some googling to find the right products then haha Came up with some REALLY obscure results....

Anyway found this which may be useful for future grows:
Accent Seed Soak, London / Surrey - UK - Greenfinger Hydroponics

Its a pre germ soak which you use on seeds to reduce the likely hood of any being males. Could be worth a go on next grow? I might get this next time rather than spend the extra on fem'd seeds.
Thats not quite the same thing
(I can imagine the "sex-change" google results) LMAO
But I am convinced that
1- Fem'd seeds are more prone to hermi (don't have anything to back that up, I just read all the time that it happens a lot)
and 2- that seed sex is determined at time of fertilization and you can't change it with a chemical. (that is from scientific research done in labs by biologists)
I think this Reverse thing just loads hormones that shunt the male genes into not producing viable flowers and is what I will try.
but soaking seeds to change them to females is snake oil in my opinion.
but who knows? They are finding out science was wrong all the time with new studies.
I will save the money from fem'd seeds and count on luck for girls
The best soak for seeds is Hydrogen Peroxide
It dissolves the hormone coating the seed has to prevent germination before its time and so helps them crack, then provides added oxygen to the tap root that forms.
I flush em out for a while after that to get rid of the H2O2 before adding my organic nutes as H2O2 would kill parts of them (the nutes)
Then add some H2O2 again during flushing to kill off any bacterias and stuff that may be lurking in the res.
now back to those search results.......OUCH!

yeah i thought it was a bit odd. Looks like i'll be buying the "Dutch Master Reverse" Seems to be the best available anyway. Not too expensive. And while i was searching i found Canna do a decent Flush as well so i think i'll get some at the same time. Yeah the search results varied quite a lot i must say haha

Here is an interesting post
Hermie solution - confirmed! - Cannabis.com Forums Message Boards - Medical Marijuana, Cannabis Club, Dispensary, News
It claims that in 24 hrs the male flowers died and fell of a plant! wow.
I already have and really like Penetrator so it looks like a trip to the Hydro shop today for me.
and even found directions!

That sounds brilliant. I think it'd be worth purchasing this as standard anyway. Does this mean you can spray it to a plant from the beginning of the 12/12 schedule and make it be female!? Or is it just for plants that hermied? Ha i was on that website a minute ago!

You know i was on about that odor neutralizing thing i removed earlier? I touched the casing for no more than ten seconds when removing it and placing it on the side. I wash my hands and my hand still stinks of chemicals and the smell... And i accidently rubbed my eye and now im in freaking agony... I hate to think what my girls have been going through the last three or four days...

yoinks:shock:
I hate when I get stuff in my eyes
Yes according to the directions....You use it on first day of flower and again on day 10
It wont make a male into a female (nothing will do that) but they guarantee that it will not allow hermi.
Wonderful news for Fem'd seed growers like yourself.
I may even try fem'd seeds now that I know this.
also looked online at the hydro shops price list and a liter of reverse is only $17
so if its in stock I am saved!
or overnight delivery would work too...but for a LOT more money.
here is the directions from Dutch Master:
Usage Details
You’ve heard the rumors……… A foliar spray that can stop hermaphrodites from producing male flowers. Well it’s true! Experience for yourself what “those in the know” have been talking about. REVERSE is a ready to use (no dilution required) foliar spray that quickly and efficiently eliminates a grower’s worst nightmare…. awful seed problems! Fix it simply and quickly with REVERSE’S unique formulation of specialty amino acids and proteins.
Using REVERSE is easy and effortless. Simply follow these easy guidelines!

  1. Pour the amount of REVERSE you need into a spray bottle. Typically 500mls is enough for one application for the average sized garden.
  2. Add PENETRATOR at the rate of 10ml per litre only! A 500ml/ ½ quart spray bottle will require 5ml/1 teaspoon of PENETRATOR and a 250ml/ ¼ quart spray bottle will require only 2.5ml/ ½ teaspoon of PENETRATOR.
  3. Shake the spray bottle with the solution to make sure it is well mixed.
  4. ** Important you must spray the solution within 15 minutes of adding PENETRATOR**!
  5. Make sure your lights are a minimum of 24 inches from the tops of your plants then spray your plants until the leaves are evenly coated with the spray solution and a small runoff occurs. You only need to spray the top surface of the leaf because PENETRATOR will deliver absolutely everything inside the leaf using the top surface only.
  6. Spray your plants once, then once again 10 days later making sure you spray any male flowers you see.
Dont even have to do it with lights off and my buds are still too small to worry about mold so I am good to go.
Just have to wait till the hydro shop is open now to see if they have any.
If not, there is another shop (not open Sunday) where I am sure I can get some after work Monday.
This other shop is huge and carry the complete Dutch Master line, so looks like I am golden.
noticed a funny thing...
They recommend this for watermelons to create "seedless" ones.
but the directions are for indoor (Make sure your lights are a minimum of 24 inches from the tops of your plants)
who the hell grows watermelons indoors?

Yeah just had to wash my eyes out majorly lol anyway i had to remove one of Janes lower leaves as it was practically dead. Gave it a smell and it smelt just like that the odor neutralizer. So im pretty much 100% that it was the cause.

The directions seem simple enough :) even for me lol The cheapest i have found it online is £10, and obviously there is postage to add to that. However the same site doesnt have the penetrator meaning if i wanna save postage charges i may have to pay a little more. Its going to set me back around £30 altogether :( But im sure it'll be worth it for piece of mind. Haha if you wanted to grow watermelons in the UK you would probably have to do it indoors lol
