Haha wow... so I think the definition of Atheism should be "Stubborn individual who believes they have the answer to everything and can never be wrong." Are you guys fuckin serious? Why dont you spend just one hour researching well documented cases of demonic possessions and exorcisms, then come and talk about shit that didnt really happen.

i will concede that things happen that cannot be explained sometimes. Doesn't mean there's an unseen force at hand but maybe we just can't understand/comprehend what we're seeing?

The interesting question is this, imo: these unexplained things, granting for a moment their reality ...

... would they eventually be reduced to understood, or ...
would they forever resist classification and a mechanistic explanation?

It's a sort of spiritually agnostic proposition. cn

You claimed there was well documented cases of demonic possession. What you have provided is cases of exorcisms. I can find plenty of documentation proving snake oil was given to people, does nothing to suggest that these people were actually in need of snake oil. This reveals a key factor to your magical thinking. In your mind exorcism = demonic possession.

i have personally seen a couple of things that i, to this day, cannot explain. Granted there is no video evidence and only one was witnessed so there could never be any REAL investigation, but i know what i saw.

As to whether these things will ever be explained? Well, each one is different and therefore some will and some won't imo.

Ok, first, thanks for thinking like a normal human being. But, what if those things are caused by spiritual shit, whether it be good or bad...

Dude, a psychiatrist said his patient levitated for 30 minutes.. what more do you want? Call it possession or really great crack.. theres more than meets the eye in this world and atheists need to learn how to accept that.

edit: And, now that I went back and read it again, youre wrong. It does say the girl was possessed.

An American woman who levitated, demonstrated paranormal psychic powers and spoke foreign languages unknown to her was clearly demon possessed, according to a board-certified psychiatrist and associate professor of clinical psychiatry at New York Medical College.

Well, i believe personally that a higher power than us or random chance created this universe. Therefore, i believe in a spiritual realm. The error many make when confronted with something not readily explainable is to attribute it to the beliefs they already hold.

HOWEVER, someone NOT inclined to believe in a higher power wouldn't ever see the spiritual explanation as a viable cause.

It is a common tactic of those without a strong logical argument to resort to insults and other personal attacks.

I want more than an argument from authority. There is nothing special about psychiatrists that set them apart from the mistakes and fallacies inherit to the human experience, or exempt them from hoax and fraud. What I want is to be careful in my thinking and accepting extraordinary claims with no evidence. I want to be consistent in my logic and conscientious about my observations, so that I may be accurate about my conclusions. You know, the same attitude that has led us to any significant discovery of knowledge ever made.

Atheists have no problem accepting anything but the claim of a deity. We need not depend on atheistic ideas to discount possession, we need only engage in proper investigation and skepticism to see that the claims are completely unsupported. We need only uphold the same standards of evidence and reason we employ in all areas which attempt to provide accurate answers, such as legal, academic and scientific endeavors. We do not need to rely on any religious position, just sophisticated and intelligent inquiry. And let's point out once again, skeptics are willing to accept anything given a convincing and supported argument, you have simply failed to provide one.

When I was young and seeking a mate, my closet was denim-infested. But I exercised my closet, and it's all sweats and synthetics now. You can't make exercise clothes out of denim. I heard a rumor that that particular dwelling was repossessed, so doubtless that closet has more denims than ever. cn

But the absence of proof is not conclusive of non-existence either. Just saying.

you do realize you are callin ppl that think more logically than you could ever dream of idiots? you do realize you believe in a book that has no validity at all in fact yet you call ppl on here that go off facts an scientific proof idiots? you do realize you're not the smartest person on the earth an you acceptin an answer as rational an fair doesnt mean jack shit right?

none of the "facts" you listed are anythin close to proof that demons exist. ive really tried to be nice to you about all the bullshit you say, but i honestly feel you're the prime example why certain humans shouldnt re-produce. im not an atheist an i never claim to know everythin, but your goofy ass claims to know all this as fact with 0 fuckin proof for any of the vomit you spew in these forums, but they're stubborn know it all idiots....hahahahahahahahahahaha

i honestly feel sorry for anyone that has to listen to you talk in real life.
