No, roots organic already has a good ratio of perlite....adding more will only dilute the nutritional value of the soil......I use roots, both mixes the regular and 707 mix.....some pineapple kush in roots and a broccoflower in roots....you can see how much perlite it has already in it

hey man i was wondering are u starting that broccoli inside and finishing inside or out , i did some this summer outside in a raised garden i built but they sucked sites were small and quick to flower on me, so... my ? is are you ganna flower them outside this fall/winter in the cold ? or inside, if so how, and on what lighting schedule? sometimes i feel mj is easier than some veggies, but i'll get them all down to someday:wall:...lol

Thanx.......adding perlite used to be more common in older horticultural practices in earlier times since a lot of soil didn't have any perlite.....it became very common practice....so many growers used to recommend adding perlite to your soil mixes but now a days most potting soil has a decent ratio of perlite already added...I actually wish it didn't have any for the same price.....that way I can add my own and have more soil.... perlite is cheap : )

Do you mind me asking if you use nutrients? Your plants look VERY healthy. I was going to do roots organic soil and buddah grow/bloom, do you think that is an ok option for a beginner? Thank you

I just keep them indoors.....I put them in the flowering room, this broccoflower plant is actually a cauliflower, the name is a little misleading lol.......your suppose to start broccoli from seed a month or two before fall and finish by or right before spring....you can grow in Phoenix but summer is rough for some plants that fruit and flower in summer.....have to have good shade.....even fans with mister for some plants....here is a planting guide for maricopa county if you are interested, it is a nice little guide http://cals.arizona.edu/pubs/garden/az1005.pdf

I only use nutrients if I don't transplant in time or just to lazy too transplant in veg as long as your growing container is big enough roots is enough in the vegetative stage for most strains/in flowering I will give them nutrients if I am growing in straight roots....but only if and when the plants start showing signs of deficiencies....I have never used any of those nutrients but I am sure they will work...you should be fine with straight water for a while.....those plants in the pics have not had any nutrients except some cal/mag plus because I use RO water........
