Hey Doc. Can you make a guess at how long these need to go? They should be close I think.

If you send me pics of the trichomes I can tell you down to the hour---Hard to tell without looking at trichomes.
Grow looks very nice---You're within--week/weeks of harvest.

hey doc and howard! so i just got my new veg room set up and it's completly sealed. i got co2 going in the room and it's steady around 1400-1500ppm temp around 77-79f, humidity 45%. is the ppm too high for veg? also do i need to draw any fresh air in? cuz i don't want that to cancel my co2 out. my friend keeps telling me i need to draw fresh air in. also i got 6in carbon scrubber in the room and do you recommend me just recycling the air in the room or should i draw the air out? i'm just trying to be efficient with my gas as possilbe. Co2 has limited benefits in the vegetative growth stage--it does help a little with growth but the cost of bottled co2 outweighs the benefits. You don't need to vent or bring fresh air in when using co2 in flowering. Vent during the lights-off and co2-off period.

so I'm pretty new to foliar spray and i just picked up dutch masters gold. do you think that's a good product? and it didn't say to apply it everyday or every 3-5 days. what do you recommend as far as applying it and different types of foliar sprays!! thanks agian..
Start with half the recommended dose---use it with liquid dish soap(IVORY works well and a few drops per liter works well) PH your spray--Never spray with lights on spray after lights out or a couple hours before lights on(you can use green light in your rooms without effecting the plants photo-period. Test the spray on one plant and wait a couple days make sure no burn. You can foilier feed through all of the veg stage and 3 weeks into flowering.

hello doc.i have a ? about a plant it was sick from early age,and came away again when it was turned to flower and then turned sick again i think it had calcium deficiency .but anyway i pulled it out and it had self seeded itself with no males or any sign of any male on itself.would this be because it was a sick plant or because of bad genes from the seed? Two things could have happened----1. pollinated by wind carrying pollen from another male(pollen can travel miles this way)---2. You just missed the male flower and it pollinated itself--easy to do.

the seed was dutch passion #1 fem

Well Doc, here they are, and thanks to your good advice they are looking good. It is day 11 and buds are starting to form.

This strain branches a lot, and I hate to see the girls waste their energy. Can I trim the branches now, or do I need to wait till the third week? If so, when in the third week? The first day of the week, the last, or am I worrying about it to much and whenever I have time is OK? Trim at day 22

Thanks again for all your advice here and on the grow school thread.
trim at day 22---thanks

hey doc i put 5 WW fem seeds in jiffy pots on monday 1/12 along with 1 pure gold fem. the pg sprouted on the 4th day but i am still waiting on the 5 WW. is this normal? i keep the dome sprayed with spring water and have them under a light in a warm room. i did not soak the seeds like say cause i didnt see the grow school thread until after they were in the soil. any thoughts
Straight germination of seeds in soil can take up to two weeks.

Much appreciated thank you very much, Ill search for the dolmomitein the U.K. as for the "chealeted form of micro's" what is this? Its proving difficult to locate in U.K.
allows the micro nutes to be available at any PH range.

I'm working with four plants within a sqaure metre.....So if i understand you right because the 600w would need to be raised slightly higher than the 400w the extra lumens would be lost so i would have no benefit to upgrade then?
you should go with the 600 to cover that area.

its good:clap:. Wood ash is used as a soil additive to de-acidifiey or raise soil PH. Smoking in your room is fine in light quantities. Being in your room alot without smoking is great for both you and your plants----thet get co2-----you get o2:-o.

-------lol---they look great but I meant you need to get a cheap 30x to 100x scope to look at the tricomes(radio shack)----are they clear/milky/golden amber-----when they hit half milky white and half amber----pull-em.:weed:

if my growth has been stunted at 1 and a half months, will it ever grow at the rate that it did before? Or will that slow the growth permanently?

hey Dr., I have a grow room 4' wide, 9'long and 7' tall. Ive recently acomplished my first grow with cfls and im now wanting to go hps. problem is theres really nowhere to run a vent for outake of the heat. I just leave the door cracked for ventilation. Question is would a 400 watt hps put off to much heat for this small of an area with just an oscilating fan running constant and the door cracked? If a 400 watt would be ok, how about a 600 watt? the room is in the basement so its cooler than upstairs to begin with. thanks in advance....

Hey, Doc...

You truly are kind and generous... I learn so much from these threads, including a lot of things that I didn't know I needed to ask, but really did!

I have an LST question: Is it useful to begin LST training when you're just starting flowering? I'm new to growing MJ, and have gotten the impression that LST is something you do during veg stage. But, then I've also learned that MJ grows quite a bit taller during flowering so I thought.."hey, maybe you can still do it?"

I also have a bubblelicious showing a male preflower (while I'm new to growing MJ, I'm a professional botanist and avid gardener of all things in my daily life, so you can trust what I'm seeing). I've heard in a place or two that you can't always be 100% sure of sex just on preflowers, so don't pull "males" just on pre-flower. What's your take?

I have 8 bubblelicious plants at 3-4 weeks of age, 11-15" tall, 400W HPS, 18/6, MG potting soil (no added nutes yet.. just bought Foxfarm GroBig and Tiger), temp 76-80F. The plants are still quite supple and amenable to bending.

Thanks!

What caused the the problem to begin with?

You will have to test it out---you could built a cardboard insert with an intake-vent on the bottom and exhaust on the top to move cool air in and warm air out. The insert could be stored behind the door when it has to be closed if discretion is a problem. You could use small-low wattage fans for the intake/exit. Just an idea to get your brain juices going...

The plants are still quite supple and amenable to bending. 1. You can LST train at anytime of growth. 2. I'm not a professional botanist but I can tell you---"pull the flower"---99.9% it will self-pollinate the plant if you don't. For your next grow pick up some Dutch master reverse and apply it the first week of flowering if you choose grow this strain again-also keep-an-eye out for more male flowers. The above advise is for male-preflowers showing on female plants in the flowering cycle. If you are just sexing the plant and are concerned about pulling a male because it may or may not be sexed correctly then there are a couple things you can do----1. watch it Daile to see if male pollen sacs develops/as well as look for pistil hairs to signify a female. 2. Put the male in a separate area just in case away from the other female plants. 3. put all the plants into flower if ready and watch very closely-check a couple time a day--pull males when pollen sacs appear. MG soil has timed release fertilisers in them so it is a little harder to control and know when to feed with nutrients. If your MG label tells you that the soil will give you 6 to 8 weeks of nutrient then I would start checking the soil run-off now and see where your PPMs are at. You could also add the nutrients at a very small 1/6 dose and be safe. If your plants are healthy and green and showing no signs of nutrient def/burn I would wait to add anything. Hope this info has helped you. Thanks for the kind comments.

Thanks!

Different strains like different concentrations or PPMS of nutrients---although the product you listed are very mild and beneficial some strains may be sensitive to the first dose at the 2 week period. What was the ppm reading of the first feed?---I keep my first feed at or below 250ppms. That one plant could just be week or has not developed a strong root system able to handle the nutrients at this point.

i am 5 weeks into veg and a brown spot appeared on one of the fan leaves i cut it off and was wondering wat it cud be
By the looks of the pics your plants are very healthy so It was probably that some nutrients spill got on that part of the leaf and caused a burn. Keep an eye on the plants but they look good---send me a PM if you have any other problems arise.

thanks dr thats a very logical solution that i should have thought of...but thanks a lot i was wonderin why none of the other leaves were affected so makes sense.

thanks doc i thought this would be the case so i flushed it yesterday today it seemed abit healthier and as if it was picking up abit too!! as an organic grower and since i only use natural fertilizers as guanos and castings in my soil grows i dont posses a ppm/ec meter!! i water with spa mineral water http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spa_(mineral_water) so i believe it has a slight ppm. this was the first feeding as i had only watered up till the time i introduced them to the tea!! as i said i grow AF strains and they are supposed to need little feeding!! when making my soil i used cellmax compost in which i placed an additional 10% perlite a kilo of high p bat guano and a kilo of zeolite in the 50L compost mixture. i used this soil as the bottom 3/5 of the pot and then i used a low nute seedling soil in which i added 15% perlite, 10% worm castings and 5% high N pelecan guano which i placed on the top 2/5 of the pot. when placing the low nute soil mixture in the pot i mixed abit of the compost with it creating a layer of the compost and the low nute soil!! i placed my popped seeds in the soil and have watered up till the time i gave them the tea!! anyways i will now only water next time in any case and after that try the tea again and maybe only water the burned seedling or give it an even slighter dose! what do you think doc?? this is my first grow by the way!!

just wanted to drop in and show it off...lol...thanks for the advise...this is day 24 of flower!!
Looking very nice!!!-----If that is all black walls then your plant could benefit from some white walls/mylar/reflective film/panda film or anything white. Black does not reflect well and holds heat. Also---back your ppms down 100 with each of the rest of your feeds.
