Hi Guys,

New to the forum, and first let me say what a wonderful place you guys have got going here. I can't wait to become an accepted member of the community.

Anyway, a little about me. I'm from the UK, and have had a love affair with the old M'J' for around the last 10 years. At the moment the scene is really bad locally and I have decided to take the steps required to grow my own stash. ;-)

Unfortunately due to budget constraints I am limited as to what I can do but here's where I have got to so far, admittedly - nowhere really!

I have an old wooden cabinet which is about to be thrown out. It is approximately 6.2ft in height, 2.4ft in length and 1.3ft in depth. I have decided to convert this into a grow cabinet. Due to budget restraints I have decided to go the CFL route.

I am trying to read up as much as possible and so far believe I need the following:

Bulbs (lights) - What type of CFLS? Tubes? Best configuration in Cabinet?
Soil - local hydro store - looking at Biobizz Light Mix - Any good?
Reflective material - to line the whole cupboard - Mylar - local hydro store
ph meter-both soil and water & ppm meter - local hydro store
fertiliser - separate products for both vegging and flowering or would the standard soil composition of the Biobizz be sufficient for vegging?
- for flowering looking at Biobizz Bloom -Any good?

Below pic of closet for idea of dimensions.

I'm looking at running 6 Gro-Lux 40W T12 4ft fluorescent tubes in the cabinet - 2 rear 1 on each door ( so 2 front) and 1 on each side of the cuboard suplimented with 2 mounted Gro-Lux 20W T12 2ft fluorescent tubes at the top of the cabinet with the ability to lower and raise them away from the plants.

Would these lights be sufficient for vegitation and flowering?

Attached pic of cabinet for idea of space available.

Have no knowledge of these lights or any type of lights. Is this overkill for such a small space? Would they create a lot of heat?
How many plants should I be looking at getting in the cupboard? ( I have 9 bagseeds waiting to germinate plus another 5 feminised seeds from the local seed bank.)

Any advice appreciated. I know I have missed something!

welcome fellow uk grower!

you can never have to much light. if you lollipop them you could get six in there. otherwise probably only a couple.

i would keep money aside for ventilation. the meters aren't 100% necessary. the ventilation is.

best o luck.

lollipopping is where you trim 1/3 of the lower branches to create one big cola instead of many smaller ones :blsmoke:

check the faq link at the top of the page for all your questions. mucho useful info.

lollipoping is basically just growing the main cola by chopping of the lower 1/3 of branches.

i wouldn't know what contaminated weed looks like. if i saw some tho i probably would. given what they do to hash in the uk nothing surprises me. you will not be disappointed growing your own.
