There are guys that just screw straight to the aluminium. If the smd boards are in direct contact with the aluminium then the heat will dissipate, I just use computer heat sink compound as extra security.
that's the stuff, i might try without first

Shouldn’t be an issue then. In the future I’d recommend aluminium rhs or can channel if you plan on running them harder. More surface area than flat plate to dissipate the heat.
works fine m8. Im sure aluminium does indeed dissipate heat better but these thick long gal strips connected to the aluminium frame work fine. Tent is only a couple degrees above ambient.

Got a link to the strips on eBay I can’t find the link I had saved. I’ll do some math for gigs.

I can drive them at full power and its fine. I don't because I don't need to in the space they are in.
Yeah fair enough. how long did you drive them at max for. My frame takes an easy 2-3 hours before it even starts feeling warm to the touch. Another 1-2 before I call it hot. Need to get a ir thermometer so I can measure frame and board temps

about 3 months on 18/6 last summer. Only turned them down before they went back into the tent two weeks ago (cause it was winter)

Wood won’t dissipate heat. At the very least mount them to metal of some kind. Aluminium being the best cheapest option (copper would be better but fucking hella expensive)

animals can't turn themselves to both sex as a last ditch effort to repopulate itself and the other aspects of its existence ..it seems much like reptiles and sea creatures how they adapt to survive and thrive.. we only think of ourselfs ..well some of us any.'cough'cough'
What about salmon?
