Aussie Growers Thread

Hi Steve, welcome aboard - feel free to ask any questions you want - if you ask them in this thread you will most likely get answers from Aussies and not get told to buy shit from Walmart or Lowes.
 
G'day folks, just joined. Im living in the uk at the mo but originally from far north queensland, it was all about guerilla grows then (new guinea gold mostly) but i have been growing indoors for the last five years- Due to the massive population in this country!
The set up here is... well i gutted a fridge and use that for mums, clones and veg. It has intake and a 20watt cfl in the bottom freezer then vents leading through to the fridge which has exhaust and 2 40watt cfl's. Simple but works well.
I built the flower room from scratch- 1.5x1.8x2m tall, layered with black and white and duct tape for those cold winters. 100mm ruk extractor with home made carbon filter and a 400watt hps. Got armageddon, blueberry, roadrunner and crimea blue and i'll stick some pics on when i can source a camera lead. Left it in mauritius last month-faaarrrk!
 
Ok i have my first question

I got a few seeds of a mate but they don't pop very well Painfully slow
My last lot of seeds took about 12 hours to split and another 36-48 hours and they were ready to plant
It normally takes about 2 weeks to get about 50 cm tall

This lot is 2 weeks old and hasn't got its first set of sun leaves yet
My system is sound been using the same setup for about 12 years with no problems

Should i buy seeds online i found a good strain Aurora Indica looks like it would be really good

I have had good dealings with Seedsman.com - great stealth packaging if you pay for the "signed for international" mail ... and they replace seeds if they don't get through to you.

I don't think that customs cares too much about doing anything except consficating the seeds.

I get them sent to my home address in my name and I sign for the package.

Probably not good to order from Amsterdam or columbia as the postmark is a giveaway.
 
I use a home made aeroponics system

Only fits one plant in a closet most people don't believe how much i get and how quick it grows but once they see it in action they soon become believers

From a space 150 x 75 i usually pull about 10-12 ounces

The only thing i do is fill the water up every 2 days about 20 liters tip it twice while on grow and support the branches from above when it heads

Everyone i know that grow Hydro has tiny little stunted yellow plants mine look better than they would outdoors

When i get some seeds to pop right ill take pictures as i go it will surely impress the pickiest grower


Anyone that wants the plans let me know ill draw a quick picture and list the parts
if you already have a light and electric water pump its about $50 of parts once you have grown one you will never go back less mess less everything

One tip i would like to share if you use an Aero setup you don't need normal media to grow in i use pure white quartz pebbles the type you get for the garden path
They don't hold any water so they don't build up nutrient you don't have problems with damp or insects
Just soak them in 100 to 1 bleach mix over night then rinse them and soak them again in clean fresh water

Just remembered something i should mention i broke my food meter about 5 years ago and haven't needed one to this day
I just put 3 caps of part a and b Canna in a 10L watering can as my measure

50cm is average in 2 weeks for good seeds it grow so fast you would swear you can see it move

I found this on the lounge room floor after my last pull
I don't know if it going to look right but you can tell just by this little bud that its very healthy
