Automated Bud Curing Setup

Yes, the only intent for this is to have some air exchange while I'm travelling. My harvest is only about a week into curing and I have to leave for 2 weeks. since it's still pretty fresh, it still needs some oxygen on occasion to keep it from going anaerobic.

I connect the air pump to a smart outlet and stick a boveda butler in there to monitor the humidity. If the boveda butler sends me an alert that the humidity is getting high, I can switch on the air pump from my phone and reduce it so I don't come back to 4 jars of mold.

That's all neat and I love automation and remote wifi setups, but the buds don't need air exchange and the point of a Boveda pack is to steer and maintain a proper humidity level to keep it fresh and prevent mold. They work more efficiently by adding moisture than taking it away, but if you use enough packs it should be fine indefinitely.

Very net and tidy , I would get rid of boveda packs .In the process of setting up buckets at the moment for curing 4-5 x 10 gallon buckets food grade with oven bags(turkey bags for the northerners) , screw lids arrive next 2-3 days(I hope), will add hygrometers to each bucket with burping grommets- will be a manual system . I dont do jars as to much hassle for the way I do things.

When my air pump and stones were new, I was using them near the kitchen sink and dropping a line into bottles of my tap water to dechlorinate it before drinking. If I left it too long, I noticed the water has a rubbery pump taste. Something to think about.

I just got some Grove bags and can't wait to try them.

just a note. bovedas are for storage not cureing
You aren't wrong, it's just some insurance if I don't get my RH perfect when drying, or if I forget to burp one day. It shortens the life of the packs, but it's better than losing the harvest to mold or having it dry out too much and ending the cure.

I believe it is correct to dry first and then store with boost or boveda, but to cure it does require air exchange. It can be stored without air exchange but the curing slows and stops eventually. And imo it doesnt matter all that much, cured is necessary for some strains but not all.

If travelling dont start curing the day you leave lol but burp before and after and it will work as long as you dried it first.

This is too expensive imo for the such small capacity but . you have the money..
I think my dealer had something like that and his " personal" stash was always super dank

Could probably diy something similar looking with rh controllers fans and timers and an old fridge or freezer make a hole use an inline tent fan
Something like this program it to desired rh and plug a tent fan with one way flapper thingy idk im highhttps://www.amazon.ca/Humidistat-Hygrostat-Humidity-Controller-updating/dp/B01J1E5LWM/ref=asc_df_B01J1E5LWM/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=293034556291&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12122274886035805550&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1002604&hvtargid=pla-314644480949&psc=1Front-Open-Wet-with-display-H_720x.jpg

Yeah no one is sticking a freshly cut plant into a bin with Boveda packs.

"Drying" is evaporating the bulk of water from the bud. "Curing" is distributing the ideal moisture level equally throughout the bud. "Aging" is oxidizing the cured bud over a period of time.

That will leave you with stupid looking flattened buds that are hard to trim.

I have 2 of these units and they are AMAZING!

Let's hear some reviews it looks to me like it would work great. From the picture they use wire racks to keep the bud shape.

No faster than a normal dry cycle so it looks most useful to someone in an extreme environment. Locking in more terpenes...eh again someone give us a review in detail that sounds like marketing to me.

This is nothing l like a wine fridge! Not even close.

I have 2 brand new ones with a 3rd on the way. I can get a perfect dry in as little as 4-DAYS and a 90-day cure in another 4 DAYS. So . . . a 90-day dry/cure in 8-days from chop.

When finished the outside of the bud is 'crunchy' and has just a very slight hint of a grass smell while still being spongy. The aroma will fill the room when you squeeze the buds and/or grind them up.

I don't know about trimming AFTER drying in the Cannatrol. I trim BEFORE putting it into the Cannatrol. It's expected that the buds may flatten on one side. But, once ground up you can't tell !!!

Cannatrol takes the guesswork out of drying/curing and is a set-it-and-forget-it type of system. I can't believe the stress I no longer have trying to hang dry or dry in paper bags. I KNOW it will dry/cure properly in the Cannatrol. No more worrying!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review. It sounds like it dries it just like a good hang dry, slightly crisp then smooths out and balances in a jar or container. .the curing in just a few more days is interesting.

It would be amazing having a set it and forget it dry cycle!

Every part of growing is becoming automated! Soon a robot will do it all.

I trim and then lay the flower out to dry on a mesh drying rack for 24 hours and then into the Cannatrol and I forget about it for the next 8 days!
