so i stopped by the neighborhood mom and pops comuter repair shop today and inquired about some used cpu fans, the guy had 2 and only charged me $0.00 pretty sweet price. old cell phone or router charger and presto new upgrade, now i have some air circulation on the plants themselvs this will help with CO2 distribution and hopefully the temps in the cab. i may take out the carbon filter as this is creating resistance and not doing really anything.

one fan is kicking ass and the other fan is not even wiping ass so i may just go down to 1 fan as i think the one thats sucking is taking potential from the other one.

ok so called radio shack and he "confirmed" your hypothesis but im still not sold.
confirmed my hypothesis? Keep voltage the same and add mA? I feel the fans are all so variable that it really doesn't matter - I've run them on 5v-16v 300mA-1600mA and it all seems to work, just at different speeds. Not to say they are all just as good, but they all still worked. If it powers both of them it powers both of them. One good test so see differences in cfm is attach a long ribbon to the fans.

i run 4 80mm fans off a computer power supply i got off ebay for $12. its real easy to make it work. you just cut the green wire coming from the unit and hook it to a black wire from the the other side of the 24 pin plug, this gives the unit consant power, mine runs 24 7 and has lasted like 5 grows now.
thanks for the tip :) i could probally run all my fans off my motherboard in my PC but i find it easier to use a old cell phone charger or router chgarger in this case

Are you running in series or parallel? That might be the difference between both fans working equally and one working well with the other not working well.

yes the guy at radio shack said the voltage will always be 12v but the mA will be shared. he also said that the mA is what makes the fan go faster. when im feeling spunky ill get a power supply and hook it up and fix all the fans in the cab so they are better positioned. till then i guess this will have to do, i have 4 small fans in there 2 of wich are pulling air through a carbon filter and other 2 are just circulating air.

nothing new today, im waiting on e mail confirmation on my worms, the guy said they will be shipped today. kinda irritated with this dude as i ordered them last monday, he should toss in a free 1/2 lb for the retarded long wait.

he said the weather got cold and the ground froze.....i totally understand weather issues but dam over a week to get shipped is still redicules, especially without offering some form of supliment for the wait.

That would be parallel - should equally split the load. I assume you just have a bad fan in that case.

Congrats on getting your fan and tools in. I would love a 52 piece kit for just computer repair.
was only 30 bucks on tigerdirect.com i have gone through them for everything i need as far as computer parts and they are the best out there in my opinion.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=171942&CatId=1801 <----heres the kit i just got. its a cheap one but has the soldering iron and mini screwdrivers. and a few other pieces that dont get used as often but may come in handy sometime.

im actually kinda axcited about the soldering iron as i want to try my hand at it soon.

I'm kind of curious - what does the tool kit include? I use to do basic computer repair and all I can think of is a hex wrench set, two larger screw drivers, a small screw driver kit, needle nose pliers, snips, and a soldering iron. Super curious as to what the pros use.

/e nice. what is the thing all the way on the left bottom? the flash light or is it a butane soldering iron? I fing love butane soldering irons.

this is by no means a professional kit. just one for the class i am taking right now. it has all the basics as you mentioned
