Sup folks.

Me and my friend have recently been looking into growing our first plant, however because of the crappy UK weather conditions we have concluded growing it outdoors is far too risky. Likewise because we don't yet have our own house we can't really risk growing indoors with artificial light. So we decided to try a seed on our window sill, we're still waiting for it in the post but do you guys think this is viable? We've purchased a feminised diesel LowRyder seed because it is autoflowering so will produce at least something regardless of our poor sunlight conditions??

Any other tips or comments are also appreciated, thanks in advance.

aww bless. hahaha welcome to RIU!

buy yourself an envirolite or a small hps like a 250w with just natural light the final yield will be pretty poor but it will at least give you something smokable

sack the dealer & happy growing!

Uhh. You dont want to grow outdoors because of the bad weather. You dont want to grow indoors with lights because you rent. So you want to grow on your windowsill.

Uhh. This makes no sense.

First off if the weather is so bad, what makes you think there will be enought natural light coming in thru a window that is indoors?
Second, you are still growing indoors and putting it in the window just asking for lookieloos and fluctiations in temps due to drafts and what nots.

Build a small box, or modify a closet and buy some LEDs or CFLs. You can find more information about both of these lights here at RIU plus guidlines of how to set it up and maintain. Also start with bagseed that way you arent throwing money away if you kill the plant. Also plant about 6, expect 2 to die and two to be male.

I hope you get all the information you need to help you make the right decision.

Aye, it doesnt really make sense but parents are less likely to notice a plant. More likely to notice a fluctuation in power bills :P

Saying that i'm considering building a small box, i have no idea how to go about it though so gonna look around the many info posts on here so i can get an idea of what to do.

It would only be a small scale (1-2 plants for fun/personal use) so hopefully budget shouldnt be a problem.

Oh. You live with your parents. Then no. Dont grow.
If you are old enough to grow weed, you are old enough to have your own place.
I am assuming you are over the age of 18 because you are here. Plus one plant grown on a window sill wont prouduce crap if it produces anything at all.

I didnt ask for advice on wether i should or not, i'm planning to regardless. I'd just like some help on a way to grow a plant that doesnt require crazy amounts of electricity/space.

And i'm 19, and here in england we usually go to university before we buy our own place, considering i could'nt afford one anyway on a part time wage: So please, don't tell me that i'm not old enough or old enough to do anything.

Back on topic, i was thinking a small grow box, we'd be putting it i the shed, could someone quickly list the key elements? I know you need a light, a carbon filter (Although i take it this isn't 100% neccessary), a fan? (What is the use for this?) Anything else?

Thanks in advance.

as i've been saying in so many posts lately:

This is what u are looking for:
http://hydroponics.eu/cat.asp?category=190-Sonfluo+Kit

Buy the watt u think u can control the heat in your box with, a tip is to get an old pc powersupply, buy 2 120cm computer fans and hook it up to the power supply, check up on google how u by a small cable jump-start a pc powersupply through the atx contact. Mount one fan at the side bottom and the other on ther oposit top side. Get that sonfluo lamp in there with a reflector, rather make the box bigger then u think is needed and if u buy the red kit buy a extra white bulb, u want white/blue light for veg and red for flowering

U won't get anything out of a window plant, at its best it will produce some fan leaves, attract attention from either your folks or outsiders and get u into trouble for something u could have bought on the street for less then the seed cost :P

Edit: remember to put either mylar or white paint inside the box to maximize your light

hey buddy i understand where you're coming from. ya just want free smoke haha well all i gotta say is that you REALLY cant grow on a window sill. Thats enough light to keep your common houseplant alive but not enough to produce the delicious buds that we all know and love. You may be able to start the seedlings there and then move them out to your shed. I'm assuming that there is power in that shed so here's what you gotta do....

You need plant containers, soil, nutrients, a small fan, appropriate grow box, and some light....the light gets a little bit trickier for you. You say your parents will notice the spike in electricity? I'm gonna assume that they won't notice any spike from two 42w compact florescents. You have to be just as anal about the lights in the house, your TV, computer, or anything else that eats up power as they are about the bills. They shouldn't notice. Those two lights will be enough light to grow one plant in a highly reflective grow box. I'm not the expert on grow boxes by any means so you may want to try other threads.

Also, make sure you monitor the temperature in that box. You're sure to run into other problems. Most people do...happy growing my friend

I just have an old dresser with a cabinet that measures 2.5hx1hx1d. For one plant just use about 4 26 watt cfls but more would be awesome, soil, and pots. Ventilation is necessary. Try to keep the temps between 65-80f.

If you want a small power bill buy an LED system, costs like best part of £100 off of ebay but 90w provides enough for a substantial grow. There is not even any point trying on a windowsill. Also for the record I live with my parents and grow, and it didn't take long for them to find out...

If the weather is so bad, how do plan on keeping the temps up in the shed??? Your gonna need a small heater too.....

If you can afford a fan, heater, lights, power for the lights, box, White Paint/Mylar, soil, nutrients, you should be good. If not, your setting yourself up for failure.

Not trying to be a dick, just being real. G/L

http://hydroponics.eu/contact_us.asp

http://hydroponics.eu/about_us.asp#warranty

Its there in small text under the sidegoing menu in the top right corner.

I bought stuff for like 1000€ from them and they where pro, a friendly guy from DHL showed up at my door within 2 weeks with nicely packed and undamaged goods. If u order enough stuff u get delivery for free.

Only one thing since u live at home u should call DHL and ask them to send your stuff to the local office so u can pick it up in person instead of having your parents signing for growlamps etc unless u talk to dhl to come on a day and at a time that your parents arent at home.

GL and happy growing =)

Oh, and dont forget: http://hydroponics.eu/product.asp?Id=1658-Mega+Pack+ATAMI+BIO

dont be cheap, u will realise u need it sooner or later and even tho u arent going for many plants u will get hooked and probably do everything in your power to be able to grow again no mather what circumstances. The diference between using pro nutrients or nothing/shit stuff is huuuge!
