"Georgia's top election official said Wednesday the state will conduct a hand recount of all paper ballots cast in the Nov. 3 presidential election.
Uncertified results in the state show Democrat Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump by 14,000 votes out of nearly 5 million votes counted in the state. Nearly all ballots have been counted, though counties have until Friday to certify their results."

"Mathematically, you actually have to do a full hand-by-hand recount of all because the margin is so close," Georgia's Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said at a news conference. "We want to start this before the week is up." Raffensperger said he expects the recount to take until Nov. 20, which is the certification deadline.

For the hand recount, election officers will work with the paper ballots in batches, dividing them into piles for each candidate. Then they will run the piles through machines to count the number of ballots for each candidate. The scanners will not read the data on the ballots. After results from the hand recount are certified, the losing campaign can then request another recount, which will be performed by machine, Raffensperger said.

So drag it out for another nine days. Does the second recount have to be in before the 20th? Or can the challenger wait for the 20th and then ask for a recount?
in Arizona, it's so strict on margin that you have to be 200 or less votes to garner a recount.

he'll use trump as a friend and foe to that end i think.
He will use Donald like toilet paper and when he is done wiping his ass with him he will flush him. Putin has utter contempt for traitors, the KGB had a thing about it and Putin has done a few and made some glow in the dark.

Lindsey is safe for six, but might be a back bencher if the democrats can use Donald to pull two seats out of Georgia's ass! Mitch must be worried about what the democrats could do to him, in this moment when his pants are down and Donald is going ape shit about being America's biggest loser. Winning.
i lived in SC for almost 20 yrs. lindsey or the gop arent' going anywhere. there is one pocket up by greenville that is mostly transplants from other parts of the country but the rest of it is a racist, dumb shit paradise. up in the mountains, there are still church of god preachers that handle snakes. i did my check out scuba dive in the lake from Deliverance. this river don't run to Aintree, boy.

Erode public confidence in the election process? Sort of like Russia wants? They knew when they saw Trump they have a winner. But yeah, each side is playing for Georgia now.
perhaps these firms should decline trump business like Four Seasons if they feel that way? surely, they don't think they're getting paid do they? + their firms will be branded as un-american.

they'll ruin their clientele list.

If they lose the majority, Lindsey will fade into obscurity, his worst nightmare. Lindsey is a true narcissist Donald is either a sociopath or malignant narcissist, however you wanna pigeon hole the brain damaged fucker. It will be a long time before SC comes around, the heart and core of the old confederacy, but they can be made irrelevant as the democrats pick off the soft demographic states and break up the solid south.

Have you noticed the social dynamic shifting from blue state vs red state, to urban vs rural? Even in the urban area of SC you can see this trend, figure out what the grievances are and settle them if you can to chip away support. You win this war like you win the peace after most wars, if you can spend a trillion destroying and rebuilding every shithole nation on the planet, you can spare a dime for yer old Uncle Sam. ;)

I can't see how the Donald will win., Well one. Screw everything up so much that the state governments have to send in their votes rather than go by the electorate. It will be a messy win but a win is a win. They do not care about optics anymore. If they do not get rid of Trump the country turns socialist.

i dont' think FS declined Rudy. i think Rudy was drunk and googled four seasons and got the wrong one. and instead of admitting the mistake, just went with it.
It made the Trump campaign look like a bunch of broke losers meeting in the back ally next to a junkyard. Amateur hour of monkey throwing shit, a garbage truck should have driven in front of the cameras for a dumpster pick up.

"All anyone talks about these days is the pandemic. We need to stop that," said Bolsonaro during the speech.

"I regret the deaths. I really do. But we're all going to die someday."

South Carolina's the state that fired on Fort Sumter to start the Civil War. South Carolina had the practice they of nullification in the 1820s. they were convinced that President Andrew Jackson was going to lead an Army down there and kick their ass. in fact Jackson did call in the Secretary of War and tell him to send an army to South Carolina. And if the governor of Virginia came out to stop him to arrest him too

Alaska...with fewer people than the City of San Francisco, but the same Senate clout of California with over 40 million.

Apparently when they get to 270 votes the Electoral College will be abolished. And right now they are at 194 or 196

Georgia’s Runoffs Will Determine Control Of The Senate. Here’s What We Know So Far.

Election Day 2020 has come and gone, and we still don’t know which party will control the Senate next year. As of Tuesday at 10 p.m. Eastern, it looks as though Democrats will have 48 seats1 in the next Senate, while Republicans will have 50. (We don’t yet know who won Alaska, but at this point, it will be very difficult for Democrats to make up their current vote deficit there.) So that leaves the two Senate seats from Georgia to determine control of the chamber in a rare double-barreled runoff election nearly two months from now.

So how did one state with fewer than five million voters throw the entire race for control of the Senate into overtime? Georgia has an unusual requirement that candidates must receive a majority of the vote to win an election, and if no one does so, the top two finishers advance to a runoff. We were expecting this to happen in Georgia’s special election for Senate, in which 20 candidates were on the ballot. (In that race, the top two vote-getters were Democrat Raphael Warnock, who has received 32.9 percent of the vote so far, and Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who has received 25.9 percent.) But it also happened in Georgia’s regularly scheduled Senate election: Returns currently show Republican Sen. David Perdue at 49.7 percent of the vote and Democrat Jon Ossoff at 48.0 percent. (Libertarian Shane Hazel took the remaining 2.3 percent.)

So now both races will be decided in a runoff election on Jan. 5.

If Democrats win both seats, they would take control of the Senate starting on Jan. 20, as Vice President-elect Kamala Harris would have the power to break ties in the chamber. But just how likely is a double Democratic victory? Until recently, it would have looked like a pipe dream, as Georgia went into 2020 with a FiveThirtyEight partisan lean2 of R+13. But the state may be undergoing a transformation. Democrats came within 1 or 2 percentage points of winning more votes than Republicans in the first round of both elections. (In the special election, if you add up all the candidates’ vote shares by party, Republicans got 49.4 percent of the votes cast, while Democrats got 48.4 percent.) And at the top of the ticket, Joe Biden appears to have become the first Democratic presidential candidate to carry Georgia since 1992.3

It's those Georgia senate seats that are the key and Mitch's biggest weakness now with Donald losing his mind, Mitch wants those seats or one of them so bad he can taste it. Make it a choice between Georgia and Donald if you can and split the fuckers wide open any way you can by threatening Donald or provoking him to make some news. Every day they fuck with him about the transition and accepting the results is more votes they will lose in Georgia. Mitch and Donald have opposing motivations here, the democrats would be mad not to engineer a though situation for both of these desperate assholes.
All I can do is contribute to PACs, which I have already done. I'm amazed at how well Democrats have already done in this election. Georgia has changed somewhat and I have no idea what will happen there in January.

Regardless what happens in Georgia, Biden will have a hard time getting anything done in Congress because the filibuster still exists. I'm leaning toward doing something to formalize the existence of the filibuster, not get rid of it. When the country is as divided as it is now, gridlock is preferable to giving all the power to a simple majority. We have to work through our differences and that is going to take some time.

Yep, it will make the office of the president the President of the United States and not the President of smaller states. Just a couple largish states signing the pact and it's done. Until they change their mind. It's too funny when Republicans try to claim it can't happen because of "the constitutution". As usual, they are citing something they haven't read.

Just for a bit of diversion from the heavy stuff.

The only difference between Toobin and Giuliani? Toobin managed to get it out of his pants.
