Bizarre Plant - Any info would be helpful

New here. My first post . been growing ~4 years - new to Autos
Started w/a supposed Granddaddy Purps Auto seed
After germ I planted in a 3 gl canvas pot 1/18 - 1/22
The sprout that came up had one leaf that looked like a small Lilly! 1/24 ( sorry I didnt take a picture)
After a few days at the bottom of the stem I could see the distinct leaves of a pot seedling 2/10
As the MJ seedling grew the mutant "Lilly" dried up and died, 2/16
Now I have a healthy looking 5" plant that is going into flower already
Anyone ever see anything like this before??

It could be just bad genetics. You have to be a bit fussy about autoflower breeders. There is only a few that have been in the auto game long enough to get it right.

Stress is the bane of autos
Transplanting an undeveloped plant is stress
Putting it in a large pot and not watering properly is stress
All the little errors are magnified with autos
Personally I have been disappointed many times by GDP
Man I got jumped BAD for saying you can't transplant autos. I explained that yes it's possible, but you really don't want to do it. I have 4 Platinum OG autos going right now; 1 is up and 3 just planted (direct sown) yesterday. Years ago I learned how fickle these things are. A few of them I transplanted at about 3" tall never grew anymore after transplanting. I remember letting them go and getting just enough to pack a single bowl from one plant. Kinda sucky @ $10 a pop.

All is well with the mutant Auto. Growing strong w/ many bud sites
I purchased a 10 pack of supposed Granddaddy purp autos, but got hosed and only 3 out of 7 so far have been autos
the others were unidentifiable photos that were still pretty good, but not what I paid for

Maybe YOU can't transplant autos. ;) Seriously, it's just a plant like others. From a plastic cup just let it develop until the root ball holds the soil together. Let it get mostly dry and then turn the cup over and the whole thing just pops out. At this point it should be thankful for the better growing conditions.

I DON'T transplant autos. I guess you didn't bother to read the part "I have 4 Platinum OG autos going right now; 1 is up and 3 just planted (direct sown) yesterday." Maybe you could learn something from that.

Or maybe you could stop giving out bad advice.

Seriously. With seeds going at $10 a pop a lot of new growers show a lot of anxiety here, especially early in grow. Let's stick to real problems.
New growers are putting seeds in 5 or 7 gallon containers and get slow growth or worse drown the seed and it dampens off. IMO that's much more detrimental to an auto then any transplant, assuming you aren't a bull in a china shop.

7 weeks in on the mutant Auto now
Short plant - a true 3 leafer. 90% are 3 points. Very few leaves w/ 5 point
Lots of bud sites. Using LST clips and they seem to be working well
I guess the plant is some sort of ruderalis freak
Anyone have this 3 leaf thing happen and if so how was your final result?

The misconceptions of autos go on and on....the simplicity sometimes confuses or escapes attention . Perhaps a forum with more auto grow info would be of assistance.

I've got one that's throwing mostly 3 and a couple 5's, it's definitely and indica leaning plant, and it's the only 1 of 16 different breeds doing it. Gonna be a while before it's done, but it's chugging along just as well as all the others. Have 8 fems and 8 Regs going, will be culling about a few more males in the next week or so. Will only keep one male, if it turns out to be male, as it's got a nice wicked structure, and smell to it.

I had this auto throw almost exclusively 3 leafs. It's was a genetic disaster. The buds were nothing but complete foxtails and airy. I ended up just binning this shortly after this photo.

Relative newbie here-

just thought I’d comment I’m surprised folks are having a hard time with the autos. I’m thinking something someone above said is some of the problem, people may be over thinking it. I’ve done nothing special what so ever and have had really superb results, atleast in my opinion.

i do think the genetics probably have a ton to do with it and perhaps I’ve just gotten lucky with my seeds so far. I’ve gotten seeds from all over the place, from my buddy down the street, to Facebook, to seedsman. Haven’t had a single dud yet (knock on wood!)

happy growing everyone all of you are such a great resource this forum is great!
