There have been instances in which an actor has been so strongly identified with a role as to make it difficult for him or her to find work playing other characters.

Typecasting sort of works both ways when it comes to James Bond. The blonde hair is bad enough already.

Being a white British dude is as much a part of his character as is his employment in British intelligence, so seeing his character being portrayed by a black, a female, a non-Brit, just wouldn't work.

You may not have a problem with it, but I wouldn't want to watch a white dude trying to play Bob Marley, and nor would I want to watch a black dude play James Bond.

The problem with your example is one is fiction one is not... therein meaning james bond can be a damn unicorn if they can make the plot make sense.
If we are poking holes in james bond's plot though how about the fact that there have been like 5 different bonds... kinda pokes a hole in the argument calling for congruity in the plot. thats just my opinion though.
What in the plot makes it so he can not be a black person? I realize this is dangerous stereotype territory. But if your only argument is he can't do it because white guys did it before him I am lost since the plot does not require he have a skin type. Just nationality and job description as far as I can tell

I don't think that's the problem at all. I think people are just looking for something to be outraged about....as usual.
Blacks would have the EXACT same reaction if a white dude was cast as John Shaft instead of Samuel L. Jackson, and they'd be justified as well.
